There were skid marks leading to a residential looking side door near the shop entrance. Daichi looked at the building with a hint of wariness in his eyes, the skid marks were made up of dried blood. True, it was possible that someone wounded was brought here, but if that was the case then there would have been only one track of dried blood.

It was also possible that the said wounded person was bitten by a Zombie, but then again there should have been only one track of dried blood if that was the case. From all the skid marks, it was quite clear that more than one wounded person had been dragged inside. If he had to guess, the side door likely lead to the store owner's apartment. Something fishy was going on here… or the store owner was way too generous and took in all the wounded who showed up in front of his store.

Bella also noticed the wary look on Daichi's face. "Milord, do you want me to blow up the door?" Bella asked in a chirpy tone and Daichi hurriedly shook his head. Bella's offer was pretty tempting, but before accepting the generous offer, Daichi decided to confirm his suspicions.

"Bella, can you use that Spell to see how many people are actually inside?" Daichi asked, pointing at the side door. Bella bobbed her head up and down like a little girl.

"Homenum Revelio" Bella flicked her hand towards the building and moments later, she blinked. "There is only one human inside, milord" Bella said while looking at Daichi.

"I see…" Daichi muttered. 'I was right, there is something definitely fishy going on here, but should I allow Bella to destroy the door? I am pretty sure that there is a murderer in there… but Bella's Spell also can't sense the Zombies. It is probable that the store owner tried to help them, but they turned into Zombies?' Daichi wondered and he immediately shook his head in denial. That was unlikely to be the case…

There was likely a murderer inside, the store owner had probably killed everyone who came to his shop. That was probably why the shop wasn't looted. Daichi took a deep breath and decided not to take any risks. He glanced toward Bella and he finally decided to accept her offer. Being safe was much better than being sorry and if the person inside was a good guy, then Daichi could always offer to take him or her with them…

"Bella, break the door" Daichi said in a firm tone and Bella basically jumped in joy as soon as Daichi gave her the green light. Bella jabbed her hand towards the door and the door exploded inwards, earning a pained scream from inside.

Without wasting any more time, Daichi made his way towards the side door followed by Bella. As soon as he arrived at the doorway, he noticed a man lying down at the end of the hall groaning in pain. The man had a machete in his hands, and Daichi didn't miss the dried blood on the machete.

"Bella, is there any Spell to knock him out and bind him?" Daichi asked, and instead of answering, Bella pointed her finger towards the man on the floor and moments later, the man's body straightened and his legs were clasped together while his arms were clasped against his waist. Moments later, a red beam shot out of Bella's finger and hit the man square on his chest. After getting hit by the beam, the man's body slackened.

"Done!!" Bella cheered loudly and clapped her hands cheerfully.

"Good, let's go inside and check the apartment" Daichi suggested and he didn't know if Bella even heard anything he said or not, but she still followed him nonetheless.

There was a reason that Daichi wanted to check the apartment before calling Saeko or Kyoko. The man was the only human inside the building, but there were several tracks of dried blood in front of the doorway and in the halls too. It was clear that the bodies had been dragged down the hall. The man also had a machete in his hands and the machete was coated with dried blood… Overall, it wasn't a good picture.

Daichi wasn't a naive fool… he knew what sort of messed up shit people were capable of. He had heard lots of stories from his mom and Roberta. The world was filled with fucked up people and now that the basic systems have collapsed, there were no laws to stop these sorts of crazy people. Certain people basically needed a small push in the wrong direction and the arrival of Mana was more than a small push. Psychos were bound to come out of the woodwork, now that there were no laws trying to restrict them.

Saeko and Kyoko finally finished clearing the street, so they decided to join Daichi and Bella. The two of them had also noticed the explosion, so they wanted to know what happened. Saeko and Kyoko entered the apartment and froze. After that, the two of them slowly approached Daichi while being careful, trying not to step on the dried blood tracks on the floor or the splinters.

"What happened?" Kyoko asked worriedly and Daichi simply gave her a complicated look.

"No idea, but I don't think I am going to like what I will find" Daichi said while shaking his head. "Saeko, Kyoko, both of you stay here. Bella, you come with me" Daichi said while looking at Saeko and Kyoko. Saeko simply gave him a nod while Kyoko seemed slightly reluctant, but she still nodded her head in understanding.

Satisfied with their agreement, Daichi and Bella made their way down the hall. The two of them passed by the downed man. Daichi opened the door connecting the apartment to the store. Everything inside the shop seemed to be completely normal, except for a few scattered medicines on the desk.

Daichi decided to leave the shop for later and for now, follow the blood tracks. The tracks led the duo straight to the basement. Daichi and Bella could hear soft growls even when they were standing outside the basement door. Daichi took a deep breath and opened the door. Now, he already had an idea of what was inside the door and Daichi desperately wanted it to be something else.

It seems that Daichi's pleas went unheard. As soon as he entered the basement, his face turned slightly green and he had to cover his face and nose due to the disgusting smell inside the room. The whole room was smeared with blood and humans… Well, dead humans were hanging from the ceiling. A human was butchered on the table and a couple of severed limbs could be seen lying around the room, but that wasn't everything.

A woman was bound to a chair in the middle of the room. Well, technically she couldn't be called a woman any longer. She should be called a Zombie woman. The remains of a human, like the bones, could be seen lying beside the woman. So, the man had been feeding humans to this Zombie woman. She must have been really close to the man. 'Maybe a sister or a wife' Daichi concluded inside his mind. While Daichi was having a really hard time keeping the contents of his stomach inside his stomach, Bella didn't seem to be having any problems.

Bella giggled like a schoolgirl. "Ohh… someone has been very naughty!!" Bella cheered and continued to giggle. "It has been some time since ickle Bella had dismembered humans" Bella continued to giggle cheerfully, it was like watching a little girl inside a toy store, which was filled with her favourite dolls.

"This is fucking messed up. I am going to be sick" Daichi muttered as he made his way toward the bound Zombie woman. It was growling at Daichi and Bella. Daichi slammed his pipe on the Zombie's head. The Zombie's head caved in and it became completely motionless. "Let's go…" Daichi said as he started to return towards the stairs. Bella also followed him while skipping cheerfully.

Daichi locked the basement as soon as he and Bella were out. He didn't want Saeko or Kyoko stumbling into the basement by accident. Yes, they could still take a peek by simply unlocking the door, but this way, they won't be unexpectedly getting a glimpse of the horrors inside the room. Daichi and Bella climbed up the stairs. Daichi grimaced as soon as his eyes landed on the man lying on the floor. Daichi had no idea how to deal with the man. Either he could kill him with his own hands or he could give him to Bella.

"Bella, can you wake him up for a bit?" Daichi requested and Bella simply snapped her fingers instead of answering. Once again the man groaned. Daichi slowly approached the man and leaned down beside him. The man glared at Daichi as soon as he noticed Daichi leaning over him.

"Do you have any regrets about what you have done?" Daichi asked softly. Daichi could already guess the answer, but he still wanted to hear the answer from the man. True, he wasn't a naive fool due to his upbringing and he knew very well how messed up this world was, but this was the first time that he was going to kill a human or order their death.

Yes, he had left Koichi Shidou and his group, they were probably dead, but that was very different from what he was going to do. He was going to order an execution. So, he needed to know… just for the sake of his own conscience or simply because he wanted to harden his resolve. He simply wanted to convince himself that he was doing the right thing and it was necessary if he wanted to survive in this world. Daichi was sure that this wasn't the only nutcase he was going to meet.

"Regret?" The man asked with a confused look on his face. "Heheahahaha!!! Regret?? What the hell is that??" The man yelled after laughing like a mad man. Daichi noticed a certain type of glint in the man's eyes. He had seen this glint in Bella's eyes too. Bella was certifiably insane, which meant that the man had probably gone around the bend.

"Why the hell should I feel regret for hunting food?!! All of you are just food! My wife's food!! Our food!! Hahaha" The man continued his insane rant. Saeko grimaced after hearing the man's words and Kyoko gasped in horror. Daichi simply closed his eyes as he made the decision to hand over this man to Bella. That would be a fitting end for this man.

"Bella, take him to the basement and you can torture him to death or whatever, but please silence the room if you can" Daichi said while looking at Bella.

Bella's face morphed into complete joy and she clapped her hands while cheering loudly. With a wide grin on her face, she respectfully bowed her head. "Thank you, milord. Bella is not going to disappoint you… I am going to make his death legendary!!" Bella exclaimed with a grin and with a flick of her hand, she levitated the man and withdrew to the basement along with the floating body behind her…
