I'll always be there for you

After night falls, the room was filled with tears and sadness. Elise's body was taken to a morgue. Sophia stayed with Isabelle as she mourned for Elise.

The funeral will be held at the end of this week.

Isabelle thanked Sophia for staying beside her. She asked Sophia to stay with Matt. Isabelle and Winston and another lady were discussing about the funeral.

Sophia found Matt couped up in his own bedroom. Matt was crying non stop while sitting in a corner. Sophia walked towards Matt and put one of her hand on his back and the other hand on his hand. She hugged him tightly then rubbed his back. Then, Matt held onto Sophia.

"Don't leave." Matt's tears streamed down his face.

"I won't leave. I will stay with you as long as you want." Sophia replied.

Isabelle and Winston were finished so each of them went to their own rooms. Sophia stayed with Matt in his room.

"Matt, let's get on your bed." Sophia held onto Matt as she tucked him into bed. She stayed beside him as he fell asleep.

In the middle of the night, Matt cried. Sophia got up and held onto Matt's hand.

"Dad! Mom! Don't leave me! Isabelle, No!! Don't leave! Sophia!! Sophia!!" Matt suddenly woke up.

"Matt, it's me. Sophia. Don't be afraid. It's just a bad dream." Matt got up and laid his head against her chest. Sophia embraced him and said, "I'll always be with you. Don't be afraid. I won't leave you." Matt stayed like this for another hour or so.

When morning came, Sophia went down to the kitchen to make breakfast since Winston, Isabelle, and Matt were still asleep. Then a phone call came, "Sophia, it's Kate. Your parents just arrived home. When are you coming back? Are you still with Matt?"

"Kate, Matt's mom passed away yesterday. I stayed with Matt for the whole night last night. His mother's funeral is in two days. Can you let my parents know? I will see them in two days? I will text you the funeral location." Sophia replied.

"Can you help me pack some of my clothes and toothbrush and stuff? Thank you!" Sophia begged Kate.

"For sure. Tell Matt I am sorry about his loss. I will let your parents know." Kate hung up and the room was silent again.

Winston and Isabelle came downstairs few minutes later.

"Hm. Smells good. Sophia, did you cook all of this?" Sophia nodded.

"Amazing. I'm digging in!" Isabelle had tears in her eyes.

"Eat slowly. I can always make more." Sophia said gently.

"Thank you, Sophia. We really appreciate your help. Thank you for helping us after their mom's death. It will be hard to recover but i believe we can." Winston said.

"I'll offer my help whenever I can." Sophia replied. "Is Matt awake?" She asked.

"I think he is still asleep. Elise's death hit him the hardest. He was very close to Elise since he was young." Winston said.

"I was close to my mother but when she changed after our father's death. I started to not really care about her. But all in all, she is still my mother. I just felt guilty when she died." Isabelle said honestly.

"Sophia, can you check Matt for me? I am worried about him." Winston gave Sophia a worried look.

"I'll go and check on him. Take your time and eat." Sophia replied.

When Sophia head upstairs, Matt was still asleep.

"Matt? It's time to get up. I made breakfast downstairs." Sophia said.

"Sophia... Sophia..." Matt was sweating. Sophia felt his head and was burning.

"I'll be back Matt." Sophia quickly went downstairs and told them Matt has a fever. She prepared some warm food and medicine and went upstairs again.

"Matt, can you get up? Here, carefully. Eat some of the food so you can take your medicine. I made your favorite fried potato balls. Try one!"

After eating some of the food and medicine, Matt went back to sleep.

Winston and Isabelle checked up on Sophia and Matt before they left preparing for the funeral.

She reassured them she will take care of Matt.

As afternoon came, Kate dropped by including Sophia's parents.

"Sophia, we were so worried about you." Sophia's mom, Rachel said hugging Sophia.

"How is Matt doing?" Rachel asked.

"Matt had a fever this morning. I gave him medication and now he is asleep." Sophia said.

"Make sure to take care of yourself as well. Mom and dad will go to Matt's mother's funeral. Your clothes for tomorrow are all in the bag. Make sure to sleep well. You look very tired." Rachel hugged her daughter.

"Mom, Kate. I need to tell you something. For the past few days, I've been feeling really tired and felt sick in the morning. So I did a pregnancy test and it was positive." Sophia mom embraced Sophia and was so proud of her.

"You've grown up, my baby girl. Matt will be so happy to hear this. I'll make a call for your ob gyn right now. Kate... Can you watch over Matt for a while? I'll take Sophia to the doctors now." Kate nodded.

When they are at the doctor's office, the doctor told Sophia she was 1 month pregnant. The doctor told Sophia about everything she needs to watch for.

When they got back to Matt's house, Matt already got up. Matt saw Sophia and he quickly embraced her. "I thought you were gone." Matt hugged Sophia tightly.

"Matt, I am here. I wasn't gone. I went to the doctor's office. You are going to be a father soon. I am one month pregnant." Sophia said proudly as she hugged Matt.

"I thought after my mom was gone, everything will be over. Thank you, Sophia. I will protect you and our baby. You must be tired. Here I'll take you to bed. Thank you, Mrs. Rachel and Kate. I will see you tomorrow. Thank you again."

When the night falls, Sophia and Matt laid down on the bed.

"Matt, no matter what happens tomorrow. I will always be with you." Sophia said.

"Thank you for everything. I will protect you and our baby too." Matt kissed Sophia gently. Matt felt Sophia's lower belly and kissed it.

"Thank you, Sophia. Thank you for giving me a child. When I thought everything was over, you gave me hope." As they embraced each other, Sophia quickly fell asleep.
