Chapter Eight

IVY'S POV.

I dialed my dad's number but it was switched off,I dialed the number of the woman that was taking care of my dad but it didn't go through.I wonder what was happening.I decided to call Raymond instead and it went through at the first ring.

"Hey Ivy,how are you doing?"he asked me immediately.

"I am doing fine,how are things over there?"I asked him.

"Everything is fine,I visited your father yesterday,he is doing fine"he replied and let out a huge breath.thats what I wanted to hear from him.I was relieved that my father was okay.

"Thank you so much Raymond,I appreciate what you have been doing for me,"I said to him."It's not a problem,"he replied.

"So how are things over there,were you able to find the job?"he asked me.

"You can't believe what happened Raymond".I said to him."I got a job in the biggest beverage company in the country,super Pacific company".

"Whoa,are you serious about this?"Raymond, who was surprised, questioned.

"I am damn serious,this came as a shock to me and to top it all,I was given a good position in the company,I was given the position of a secretary to the boss of the company".I said to Raymond.

"You are really very lucky,do you know what it means to be secretary to the boss of super Pacific,that means you get to see the face of the powerful and well known Leonardo di Salvo everyday"he said to me.

"Leonardo di Salvo,"I repeated.

"Yes, Don't you know him,he is the owner of super Pacific company"Raymond explained.

"I only know that Super Pacific is a big company,"I replied.

"Gosh,I can't believe you don't even know anything about the company you applied for a job in,you should really bring out time for social media"he said to me.

"I don't find it necessary,"I replied.

"It's really important Ivy so you will know what's happening in this world,I know you are struggling to make your life comfortable but that doesn't mean you should forget some important things in life,you should bring out time for yourself, time to have fun, time to be happy,you are still a young woman"he said to me.

"Okay I have heard you,I think I will have time for all these things since I have found a good job,I don't have to work part time day and night anymore"I replied to him.

We talked about some things before the call finally ended.

Everything Raymond said was true, since I was a student,my main goal was to score a high mark in class and make my father proud of me,I didn't get time to party or do some stuffs like girls my age do.I was only focused on reading and passing my exams and being the best in everything I participated in.

Things became worse for me when I graduated from school and my dad stopped fending for us because he was sick.I had to fend for us instead,after searching for jobs,I didn't get a good job,I decided to start working part-time, delivering stuffs, washing dishes in a restaurant, disposing refuse and so on.so because of all this,I didn't have time for social media,my phone was only used for calls.it was like I was in this world but I didn't know what was going on.

"Leonardo Di Salvo"the name repeated in my head.I was really curious to know who he was,what he looked like,his age and so on afterall I will be working for him.

I took my phone and decided to Google him.before I could finish typing his name on Google,my phone rang, seeing that the caller was the woman who was assigned to take care of my dad,I answered the call immediately.

"Good morning madam,"I greeted.

"Good morning dear,you called,"she said to me.

"Yes,I just want to know how my father is doing,his phone was switched off when I called,"I said to her.

"He is here with me,you can talk to him,"she said to me.

"Ivy dear,how are you?"I heard my dad's voice and I felt warmth in my heart.

"I am okay,how are you doing?"I asked him.

"I am doing fine,"he replied.

"Dad,I got a job already,it's just a matter of time before I bring you to live with me here"I said to him.

"I am so happy for you dear, please don't be too hard on yourself, remember to eat before you go to work, never starve yourself"he said to me and I smiled.

"You don't have to worry about me dad,I will do as you say,always remember to take your medicine"I said to him but he didn't reply.

"Dad,what's wrong?"I asked him.

"I just feel guilty that I couldn't provide for you"he said to me and I sighed.

"Dad, please don't start again,you are a good father,you did a great job raising me all by yourself and it's my time to take care of you, please don't bring up this matter again because it annoys me"I said to him.

"Something has been bothering me my dear"he said to me.

"What's that?"I asked.

"Where did you get the money for my surgery?"He asked me.This was the last thing I wanted to discuss with him.I knew if I ignored his question,he would keep on thinking about it and I didn't want anything to worry him.

"I took a loan from a friend of mine but don't worry,I am paying back already"I replied to him.

"Okay,take care of yourself,"he said to me.

"Hello"I heard the voice of the woman who was taking care of him.

"Ma'am,thank you so much for taking good care of my dad"I said to her.

"Don't mention it dear,"she replied and the call ended.

Staying alone in this house was so boring, there was nothing interesting to do.I decided to watch a movie instead.

THIRD PERSON POV.

Later in the evening,Rose came back from work,she saw Ivy sleeping on the couch.she must have fallen asleep while watching the television.she took the remote control and turned off the television.

She tapped Ivy who woke up immediately.

"Rose,you are back already"she said getting up from the couch.she checked time,it was 5pm in the evening."I can't believe I slept all day".she said

"Didn't you go anywhere again?"Rose asked her.

"Actually I got a job already in super Pacific company,I will be starting work tomorrow"she said to Rose whose face was beaming with smiles.

"This is good news,I am so happy for you and this calls for celebration,give me a minute"she said to Ivy before leaving.

Few minutes later,she was back with a bottle of wine and wine glass for two.She gave Ivy one while holding hers.

After opening the wine,she poured the contents into their glasses.

"Cheers,"she said Before they drank the wine.

Soon night approached,they ate their dinner and returned to their different rooms to sleep.Ivy was filled with joy as she lay down on her bed.things were going well for her.The next day is going to mark the new beginnings in her life.

She couldn't wait for the next day to reach so that she can start her new job.it was going to be awesome.
