A poor girl born with congenital heart disease has not had much hope for the future, but her life takes a sharp turn when a wealthy, handsome man proposes marriage to her following her heart transplant. It was the most surprising thing to happen to her in her 22 years of life. Abigail had never thought that Christopher Sherman, a young, multibillionaire businessman, would approach her and express his desire to marry her. She was ecstatic and accepted his proposal. But little did she know that the 32-year-old handsome guy had a secret reason for wanting to marry her. Abigail stepped into his world with a lot of hope in her heart. But marrying him was not the happy ending. It was just the beginning. Will she be able to keep her heart from breaking? What will happen if she discovers his true motive? ============= "Life was easy before I married you," said Abigail with pain in her eyes. “I was dying, but I was happy.” “What do you mean?” Christopher clasped her arm. “Stop talking nonsense and eat the medicine,” he hissed, placing a tablet in her palm. Under his fiery gaze, Abigail cowered. "Do you find it difficult to meet my demand for a baby? It has been two years, Christopher." He didn’t answer her question. All he did was stare at her, acting mute. “Why do I feel like you don’t care about my feelings?” Abigail asked. “Don’t you love me?” His silence was the clear answer. ============= A special thanks to Aurora, my editor, for her helpful suggestions on how to improve the synopsis. "What are you looking at?" Abigail asked, looking around. She could only see several cars speeding out of the parking lot.
Christopher looked at the back of the familiar Mercedes, which was driving away from him. He got into the car, his face solemn.
"Nothing. I will be late tonight. The driver will take you home. Rest early."
He started the engine and stepped on the gas pedal.
"Oh! Will you not eat at home?"
Eat?
He felt compelled to devour her. His lips quirked as he looked at her, who was staring at him with wide eyes full of questions.
"Then wait for me. I'll try to finish the work as soon as possible."
Abigail was satisfied with his answer. She had a contented smile on her lips as she planned to arrange a romantic dinner with him.
