A poor girl born with congenital heart disease has not had much hope for the future, but her life takes a sharp turn when a wealthy, handsome man proposes marriage to her following her heart transplant. It was the most surprising thing to happen to her in her 22 years of life. Abigail had never thought that Christopher Sherman, a young, multibillionaire businessman, would approach her and express his desire to marry her. She was ecstatic and accepted his proposal. But little did she know that the 32-year-old handsome guy had a secret reason for wanting to marry her. Abigail stepped into his world with a lot of hope in her heart. But marrying him was not the happy ending. It was just the beginning. Will she be able to keep her heart from breaking? What will happen if she discovers his true motive? ============= "Life was easy before I married you," said Abigail with pain in her eyes. “I was dying, but I was happy.” “What do you mean?” Christopher clasped her arm. “Stop talking nonsense and eat the medicine,” he hissed, placing a tablet in her palm. Under his fiery gaze, Abigail cowered. "Do you find it difficult to meet my demand for a baby? It has been two years, Christopher." He didn’t answer her question. All he did was stare at her, acting mute. “Why do I feel like you don’t care about my feelings?” Abigail asked. “Don’t you love me?” His silence was the clear answer. ============= A special thanks to Aurora, my editor, for her helpful suggestions on how to improve the synopsis. Abigail returned to her room when Elsa left. She was still looking at the photograph, her heart aching unbearably. She wished to speak with him and inquire whether he had ever loved her.
How could he decide to move on so soon?
She remembered him mourning Alison's death for two years. She was aware that he had only recently developed feelings for her. But he could have waited a few months before deciding to move on.
This notion also proved that he never loved her, but her heart was not ready to believe that. She still wanted to hear him say that she was the only one he loved.
"Why, Christopher? Why are you doing this? Did you forget about all the times we spent together?" Drop by drop, tears spilled on the newspaper.
Abigail was desperate to talk to him. She wanted to confront him. But it was not possible if she stayed locked in this house.
