A poor girl born with congenital heart disease has not had much hope for the future, but her life takes a sharp turn when a wealthy, handsome man proposes marriage to her following her heart transplant. It was the most surprising thing to happen to her in her 22 years of life. Abigail had never thought that Christopher Sherman, a young, multibillionaire businessman, would approach her and express his desire to marry her. She was ecstatic and accepted his proposal. But little did she know that the 32-year-old handsome guy had a secret reason for wanting to marry her. Abigail stepped into his world with a lot of hope in her heart. But marrying him was not the happy ending. It was just the beginning. Will she be able to keep her heart from breaking? What will happen if she discovers his true motive? ============= "Life was easy before I married you," said Abigail with pain in her eyes. “I was dying, but I was happy.” “What do you mean?” Christopher clasped her arm. “Stop talking nonsense and eat the medicine,” he hissed, placing a tablet in her palm. Under his fiery gaze, Abigail cowered. "Do you find it difficult to meet my demand for a baby? It has been two years, Christopher." He didn’t answer her question. All he did was stare at her, acting mute. “Why do I feel like you don’t care about my feelings?” Abigail asked. “Don’t you love me?” His silence was the clear answer. ============= A special thanks to Aurora, my editor, for her helpful suggestions on how to improve the synopsis. "Ella!" Jasper pursued her, his long strides allowing him to catch up quickly. He was stunned as to why she was behaving like she didn't know him. "Stop," he commanded.
Ella's heart raced as she sensed him drawing near. She didn't dare look back, afraid of what she might see in his eyes.
Without breaking her stride, Ella muttered under her breath, "Go away. Just leave me alone."
His hand closed around her arm, halting her abrupt flight. "What's happening? Why are you avoiding me?" His furrowed brow reflected both surprise and worry. "What is going on?" he demanded. "Why are you avoiding me?"
Jasper had been en route to the office after a secret meeting, unaware that he would stumble upon her in this dangerous alley. Her unanticipated presence here, coupled with her avoidance, left him utterly taken aback.
