A poor girl born with congenital heart disease has not had much hope for the future, but her life takes a sharp turn when a wealthy, handsome man proposes marriage to her following her heart transplant. It was the most surprising thing to happen to her in her 22 years of life. Abigail had never thought that Christopher Sherman, a young, multibillionaire businessman, would approach her and express his desire to marry her. She was ecstatic and accepted his proposal. But little did she know that the 32-year-old handsome guy had a secret reason for wanting to marry her. Abigail stepped into his world with a lot of hope in her heart. But marrying him was not the happy ending. It was just the beginning. Will she be able to keep her heart from breaking? What will happen if she discovers his true motive? ============= "Life was easy before I married you," said Abigail with pain in her eyes. “I was dying, but I was happy.” “What do you mean?” Christopher clasped her arm. “Stop talking nonsense and eat the medicine,” he hissed, placing a tablet in her palm. Under his fiery gaze, Abigail cowered. "Do you find it difficult to meet my demand for a baby? It has been two years, Christopher." He didn’t answer her question. All he did was stare at her, acting mute. “Why do I feel like you don’t care about my feelings?” Abigail asked. “Don’t you love me?” His silence was the clear answer. ============= A special thanks to Aurora, my editor, for her helpful suggestions on how to improve the synopsis. Jasper walked away, his heart heavy. He couldn't believe Abigail had said those things to him. He felt as though he had lost everything… his love, and his hope for the future.
Jasper walked aimlessly for hours, not paying attention to where he was going… lost in his own thoughts, feeling sorry for himself.
His phone was vibrating inside his pocket, but he was too preoccupied with his grief to notice.
Finally, he found himself in a park. He sat on a bench with his head bowed and his eyes closed.
'You are selfish. You are cheap.'
He saw Abigail screaming at him. His breathing became shallower and tighter, and his throat clenched. Tears burned his eyes.
He was sad for himself, for the future that he thought he would never have. He didn't know how long he sat there, lost in his thoughts.
Buzz-Buzz-Buzz…
Jasper eventually became aware of the phone vibrating. He dug into his pocket for his phone and saw Elsa's name.
"Hello."
