Heart attack
The officer approached Christopher and informed him that the firefighters had successfully extinguished the fire and were removing the deceased victims buried beneath the debris. The most upsetting aspect was that no one was alive.
Christopher's heart sank as he absorbed the officer's words. The reality of the situation hit him hard. The sight of firefighters retrieving lifeless bodies from the rubble weighed heavily on his soul.
"But they haven't found any women's bodies yet," the officer stated. "It's possible that your wife is not dead."
Amidst the despair, a flicker of hope ignited within Christopher. Abigail's absence among the recovered bodies suggested the possibility of her escape, giving him a glimmer of optimism in the midst of the darkness.
"Maybe someone took her away before the explosion," the officer continued to say.
