A poor girl born with congenital heart disease has not had much hope for the future, but her life takes a sharp turn when a wealthy, handsome man proposes marriage to her following her heart transplant. It was the most surprising thing to happen to her in her 22 years of life. Abigail had never thought that Christopher Sherman, a young, multibillionaire businessman, would approach her and express his desire to marry her. She was ecstatic and accepted his proposal. But little did she know that the 32-year-old handsome guy had a secret reason for wanting to marry her. Abigail stepped into his world with a lot of hope in her heart. But marrying him was not the happy ending. It was just the beginning. Will she be able to keep her heart from breaking? What will happen if she discovers his true motive? ============= "Life was easy before I married you," said Abigail with pain in her eyes. “I was dying, but I was happy.” “What do you mean?” Christopher clasped her arm. “Stop talking nonsense and eat the medicine,” he hissed, placing a tablet in her palm. Under his fiery gaze, Abigail cowered. "Do you find it difficult to meet my demand for a baby? It has been two years, Christopher." He didn’t answer her question. All he did was stare at her, acting mute. “Why do I feel like you don’t care about my feelings?” Abigail asked. “Don’t you love me?” His silence was the clear answer. ============= A special thanks to Aurora, my editor, for her helpful suggestions on how to improve the synopsis. Abigail continued to watch him as if willing him to respond to her words. But Christopher remained still, unresponsive.
Abigail watched his chest rise and fall with each breath, willing him to open his eyes, to speak to her, and to reassure her that everything would be alright. Yet there was only silence from his side, a deafening silence that threatened to consume her.
With a heavy heart, Abigail lowered her head, her forehead resting against Christopher's. She held his hand tightly as if trying to transfer her own strength and vitality to him. She pressed a tender kiss on his closed eyelids.
"Madam, you should leave now," the nurse reminded her, reminding her that her time in the emergency room was up.
Abigail reluctantly tore herself away from her husband's side. She cast one last loving gaze at Christopher, the man who had become her rock and anchor, before stepping out of the room.
