Chapter 238
Myrah's POV
I lay there on the cold floor, my hands clenched over my ears to protect them from the deafening bangs of successive gunshots. All I could feel was sheer horror.
As if it were going to jump into my throat, my heart thumped and I stumbled in my chest. I was unable to determine who was shooting who or how. With my eyes closed, I depended on the musculoskeletal bodyguard positioned before me for defense.
I knew I hadn't been shot because I didn't experience any severe pain in any area of my body. For my bodyguard, that was not the case. My bodyguard writhed in agony, and I had a sneaking suspicion that he had been shot. For me, that constituted a clear warning sign.
Another gunshot reached my ears, and then there was a loud thud, like someone had fallen on the ground. I assumed they were weapons since I also heard the sound of metal dropping. There were two of them.
