Chapter 30: Cupid’s Que
“Are you not going to eat something, my dear?” Debbie asked Lia as they sat at the breakfast table. Her parents, sister, and brother-in-law were set to live that afternoon.
Lia looked at the food. The very sight of the usual buffet and wide variety of mouthwatering food repulsed her.
Her head was still painful. Lia looked at Dawn and was surprised at how radiant her sister looked after the night of binge drinking. How was she doing that?
“Ryan told us you had retired to bed early yesterday because you were not feeling well. How are you this morning?” Sue asked.
Lia looked at Ryan, grateful to him for covering for her. “I am much better, Mom.”
“Eat something. Greasy food can be quite a cure,” Ryan whispered to her as he dished some fried eggs and bacon onto her plate.
