Wang Lian's head pounded in rhythm with the distant echoes of last night's music, a relentless reminder of the clubbing escapade he had indulged in. As the first rays of dawn filtered through the blinds, he slowly pried open his eyes. The room spun for a moment before settling into a semi-steady state.
Dragging himself out of bed, Wang Lian stumbled towards the bathroom. The cold water splashed against his face, invigorating his senses and partially clearing the fog of his wild night. He stared at his reflection in the mirror – messy hair, tired eyes, and faint traces of neon lights still dancing in his irises.
Taking a deep breath, he resigned himself to the inevitable. After a hasty shower, he threw on a t-shirt and jeans, his movements almost mechanical.
