"Our dinner arrived, and the woman working there, seemingly oblivious to the turmoil brewing inside me, said with a smile, "Do you want to come? We've set your lunch with the couple. We've packaged it for you."

The waitress assumed James and I were a couple, and we had to play along. I exchanged a brief glance with James, who raised an eyebrow but said nothing. We both knew we had to maintain the charade, at least for now.

"Thank you," I said, forcing a smile. "That's very kind of you."

As we followed the waitress to the designated area, my heart raced with anticipation. Who was this couple, and what was the connection to Damian? I couldn't shake off the feeling that my life was about to take a dramatic turn."
