Getting to know Cynthia

After the Helsteas dropped the sponsorship issue, everyone sat down to eat and Vincent was quite drunk as he started talking about the Xyrus Academy.

It was something that caught Arthur's attention, as he knew he was looking for Cynthia and wanted to enroll me in his academy in a few years.

Unlike the novel, this time he didn't take it badly, but he made it clear that he was still too young to go and wanted to make up for some time with his family.

The next morning I got up quite early and went to the backyard to continue the assimilation process, which was going very smoothly.

At that moment Vincent approached me and said that today he was going to see the director Cynthia Goodsky, that I could accompany him if I wanted to meet her.

Which I was about to accept, but I realized that I had no clothes other than the Elven ones and they looked very out of place here in Xyrus.

That's why I decided to go out on my own to buy something, but I was caught by Tabitha before I could leave and this led me to my current situation...

"Mmmm Mrs. Tabitha I didn't come to buy something like this, I just wanted some clothes that could go unnoticed here in Xyrus" I said nervously as I looked at Tabitha and Alice's back where a huge pile of clothes that didn't seem to be for Arthur was ready to be tried on.

"Don't worry, Arthur told me you had some money so you can stay at our house as long as you want" Tabitha said.

My gaze immediately went to the culprit of this, but he didn't have the nerve to look at me, so when no one saw I hit him.

"Ouch" Arthur said as he grabbed his foot that had suffered the damage, "I'm sure that wasn't necessary".

"If you had looked at me with an apologetic face I would have let it go, but it seems you didn't want to come and suffer alone and dragged me along with you" I said as I smiled back at Alice and Tabitha trying to see the prices of the clothes they were looking at.

"Tch it was too obvious and I thought I could fool you" Arthur said as he quickly entered a dressing room with some clothes his mother gave him.

Damn it Arthur, if I run out of money I swear I'll kill you, I said in my mind as Tabitha showed me several suits of a not expensive but not very cheap price either.

"What do you think of these, probably with your eye and hair color, they would be the ones that would go best with you" Tabitha said as she showed me a black shirt and another dark blue one.

"Mrs. Tabitha, I'm sure I can get something on my own" I said trying to get out of the crisis I was facing, I didn't want to be ungrateful, but I'm not very used to this.

"Don't worry, take it as a gift from us" Tabitha said.

After that I couldn't refuse in any way, so I ended up paying for half of the suits, after all I couldn't afford to owe the Helsteas and there went half of the gold Virion gave me.

Now that I think about it, I haven't paid much attention to the sword Virion gave me, I'll check it out when I get to the mansion.

When we got to the house I talked to Silvie through our mental link (Silvie has anything new happened while we were gone?)

(No, especially, everyone else was in the yard sunbathing with me) she replied.

(And how have you felt these days) it seems that every time she gets more used to the idea of communicating and has gotten closer to the people around me.

(Fine, in exchange I want two weeks of meat) she said in a proud tone.

(Don't you think that's too much? I need protein to grow) I said trying to reduce the punishment time she proposed.

(Your needs are not Silvie's problem) she said as she stuck out her little tongue and ran away towards the yard.

I think it was bad to try to teach her to communicate so fast and I'm sure she learned the punishment from the other mana beasts, are they a bad influence?

As Arthur complained about how hard it was to shop with his mother and Tabitha, Vincent arrived with Cynthia and I immediately told Silvie to hide because I didn't want Agrona to somehow know her exact whereabouts.

After all, I didn't know if he was able to see through the curse I had put on Cynthia and the less precise his information was, the better it would be for me.

At least until I manage to erase the curse, but first I have to know how it works so I can put it on my side, for that I'm going to use mana vision and extinction to know the effective way to erase it without taking risks.

Agrona will probably notice it, but he won't move right now unless he finds out that I have a legacy, after all he has invested too much in Elijah and finding Arthur to risk it for an unknown third party.

Above all, Cynthia has long been out of his control and he has kept her alive, it was exactly the same as what happened to Arthur when he was in Alacrya; even though he knew he was Grey he let him live, finally that cost Cadell, several specters in the victoriad and on top of that he lost face in front of his subjects.

Agrona thinks he has everything under control and thinks his machinations have no flaws, I'm going to exploit that arrogance and neglect to prepare myself.

"Julian, since you told me you wanted to meet the director Cynthia Goodsky and I was interested in introducing you and Arthur to her, I decided to bring her with me" Vincent said, snapping me out of my thoughts.

"Thank you, Mr. Vincent" I said as I bowed to him and then looked at Cynthia.

"It's a pleasure to meet the director Cynthia" I said as I took her hand and knelt on one knee in a sign of respect.

"It's also a pleasure to meet you, Virion has told me a lot about how outstanding you are Julian" she said, looking at me with scrutinizing eyes.

"I didn't expect the Elder Virion to have told you about me" I said, touching my head, as I didn't think he would talk to her about me.

"It was my personal interest to ask him about you, after all I couldn't miss the opportunity to meet the boy who caused me trouble nine years ago" she said with a mischievous smile.

"I'm very sorry about that, I know the elder Virion tried to find my origin at some point, but he didn't get any results, I guess you were the person he asked for help" I replied.

"Indeed, it was a very complicated task and finally no results were obtained, not even a clue, but that's in the past, I'm more interested in the you of now, I didn't expect to see a boy of your age in solid orange" she said with her eyes full of greed.

I guess she's still trying to strengthen Dicathen in her own way, but that's not enough to fight against Alacrya.

POV Cynthia Goodsky

Several months ago I received a request from Virion to meet the boy he had asked me to investigate several years ago.

I had asked him to tell me about the boy, although he didn't tell me everything, he told me he was very smart and had awakened as a mage very young.

That piqued my interest, but it was quickly lost after Virion told me he had gone to train with an unknown person for several years, I hadn't heard from him again.

That was until a couple of months ago, Virion told me he had returned and was now very skilled as a mage despite deliberately seeming to be hiding part of his abilities.

Not only that, but he was also learning very fast hand-to-hand combat, according to Virion's words, he and another boy he hadn't told me about until now had the makings to be the most powerful mages in Dicathen in the future.

And here I was seeing them both, they were really exceptional to say the least, especially the boy who had caused me small headaches when trying to find his origin.

His mana seemed very calm and that only meant one thing, his control was very high; many of the strongest mages in Dicathen today could do it, but not as well as him, especially he was doing it so naturally that it seemed scary.

In addition, he seemed very respectful when he greeted me, so his arrogance was not high, I like him although he still falls short of what this continent needs, but he is good working material.

On the other hand, the redhead boy had a unique charisma and bearing that reminded me of a king, interesting very interesting, I thought as I walked to the backyard of this mansion.

"Arthur I thought you were a lightning deviant" Reynolds Leywin said as he approached his son.

"I'm a quadra elemental enhancer" Arthur said as he extended his hand and generated several elements over it.

My eyes opened in surprise, after all I had never heard of a Quadra elemental, plus he is already a lightning deviant if I heard correctly.

I walked to a nearby chair, to be able to sit down and recover from the shock that this boy had just caused me.

"Are you telling me, that you are a quadra elemental with a deviant element?"

"Two deviants actually" Arthur said as he showed the elements of Ice and Lightning in his palm.

"That's amazing son" Reynolds said as he and his wife approached Arthur to congratulate him, although his mother had some concern on her face.

"Arthur no more secrets" his mother said in a conflicting tone about to break into tears.

"I promise you mother" Arthur said.

"According to what Vincent told me, Julian wants to enter in a few years with the appropriate age, do you plan the same Young Arthur" I asked trying to confirm my suspicion.

At that moment Arthur approached me and by his look I knew he had something private to tell me, I activated a sound barrier.

"Director Cynthia, I think we will both benefit from me being your student, after all you will be able to gain good renown for having guided a quadra elemental and I will be able to get your tutoring and also your protection for my family" Arthur said in a serious tone.

"I see that's what you were looking for from the beginning" I said without taking my eyes off his.

"That's fine but let me ask you something, why not enter now both you and Julian want to wait to enter wouldn't it be better to do it before" I asked trying to satisfy my curiosity.

"We have our reasons" I heard Julian's voice and immediately turned my gaze to him, as he managed to penetrate my sound magic in some way.

"If I had to say what they are, they would be to make friends of our age, I don't want them to look at me too weird and the second is a personal reason because both Arthur and I plan to become adventurers to gain experience" Julian said without looking at me, while caressing a mana beast type bird of jade color.

"I understand your reasons I will not oppose them, but tell me how you crossed the defenses of my wind barrier" I said as I deactivated the spell.

"Isn't it better to find out with a training combat" he said standing up and heading to the training field.
