Chapter 1- the concept of the hero storyline

For any hero story the basic premise is that of a set storyline.

A storyline can take many forms with the most common of those being linear progression stories.

Linear stories are where the main protagonist gets stronger and stronger as time goes on to be accumulated into reach or succeding at a goal.

an example of this would be the basic hero quest of taking down a demon lord or other entity, essentially if a story has a large goal that acts as the end of the story its classified as linear.

Another form of a storyline are those with open ended progression, this is more common within online novels that other forms,

Open ended formated storylines are essentially storys that follow the same format of the linear format but with the key difference of the end goal either being obscured or replaced once a goal is achived.

An example of open ended formatting is if a main character's goal was to initially gain strength with his next goal being to use gained strength to gain a want goal and this will repeat till it becomes too expansive to be called a story anymore with it becoming more of a monologue.

the last critical storyline format would be that of offshoot format. this format is essentially a mixture of the other two and acts as their middle ground. the best way to describe it as if a storyline contained a ending goal but required the completion of other goals that require their own storylines to develop to push toward the final story line.

the best example of this format would be the introduction and implications of secondary characters or viewpoints who also have the same goal at the end the major storyline. this can be done by having each additional member have their own individual goal which nessitates the creation of their storyline.
