The Archaic Dragon Mage

Wyatt was alone in the world. When the rifts opened the world was thrown into chaos. Archaic mages came through those rifts, and war after war followed. The last war had ended when Wyatt was just a baby, but he had still lost his eye to it. The empty socket, and loss of depth perception made him an easy target. Wyatt being an orphan meant that no one back him up when he did get targeted. Wyatt was used to fighting for himself, and the draft was going to force him into military academy. He had no genetic markers to become an ability user so he had already accepted the fact that he would probably die during his two years required military rotation after the academy. It was just a fact of life. Non ability users were just cannon fodder, and archaic abilities were highly restricted. Wyatt didn't think anything off it. That is until he found a marble in an old rift area. A marble that would change everything.

One on one round two

I settled in to take a nap. My body relaxed as I used my bed as a pillow. Savannah, and Ethan had decided to take watching the matches seriously. Mostly Ethan since he was planning to win. It was easier for them to focus while I was in my room chilling in complete safety.

No one knew what I was, and I was safe as long as it stayed that way. I would be leaving after this was over so I wouldn't need to keep my secret much longer. The wolves didn't care that I wasn't human, and Ethan seemed to like the fact that I wasn't human. I relaxed into a dreamless nap. I woke up when Ethan came back.

My wings twitched as I waited for Ethan to say something. I smirked when I realized he didn't plan on saying anything. He was deep in thought. Curiosity made me wonder what he was thinking about. I debated on pushing my way in his thoughts to find out what he was thinking about.

I stretched my wings out slowly. Keeping them from opening entirely so I didn't damage the nice room. My body tensed as I thought about getting up. I hoped me, and Ethan wouldn't have to fight tomorrow. We'd be fighting everyday from here on out.

After today they'd be down to the top hundred. Once we finished with the preliminary rounds we'd be able to do some real fighting. I was really hoping my next fight would be much more interesting. I'd have to hold back more so it wouldn't end that quickly again. I snorted as I thought about how easily that round had ended.

It hadn't even lasted long enough for me to enjoy it. I wanted a fight. I wanted to crush someone. That whole near death fight with the demon had left a bad taste in my mouth. I sighed as I debated on climbing back onto the luxury bed in my room.

It really wasn't big enough for me the first time I laid on it, and now I was bigger than I'd been when I laid on it last time. System stats.

Level 19

Health 190

Strength 69

Agility 67

Stamina 72

Instinct 27

Damage resistance 90

Mana 359

My body relaxed as I looked at my stats. That fight with the demon had boosted me two levels. I was surprised that he was so physically weak. I mean compared to a normal human he was really strong, but compared to me he was really weak. His familiar was as physically strong as I was, but mana wise he was weaker.

It seemed as if he was trying to use that flaming snake as a cover for his weaknesses. I ended up falling asleep while lost in thought. I woke up to a nine o'clock alarm. Ethan wanted me to watch his match so I needed to get up earlier. I got dressed, and switched forms quickly.

Pulling on fresh clean clothes. Then the stupid beanie. I stepped out of my room, and walked to the elevator. Riding it down, and heading out the the arena. I strode through the stands looking for where Savannah was sitting.

Not that I really needed to look since I had a mental GPS that would take me right to her. She had a seat saved for me right next to her. I looked down into the arena. Waiting for Ethan to walk onto the stage. There were only five rounds running today.

The arena's were bigger now, and beast gear was allowed. This should be interesting. I smirked as I thought it all over slowly. The people next to me flinched when they caught me smirking. My smirk looked kind of creepy compared to a normal persons smirk.

Ethan walked into the first round. He was paired up with another face I didn't know. I wanted to extend my wings again, but I figured I could push it off until I got a chance to spread my wings completely. I'd get that chance soon so I could just push it off for now. This dude looked even more cocky than the one I'd mopped the floor with.

He was pretty strong. I could tell. He wasn't as strong as Ethan was, but Ethan kind of sucked at confrontation. I snorted as I dropped the smirk. The start sound was sounded, and the fight began.

Ethan's opponent rushed forward. Using what looked like telekinesis. I almost burst into laughter. Telekinesis against a telekinesis natural. Both of Ethan's parents were telekinetic.

Ethan took control of his enemies projectiles. Forcing them out of his control with that blue glow in his eyes. Ethan's eyes only glowed when he was using a decent amount of power. The brighter his eyes glowed, the more power he was using. He wasn't using anywhere near his max power.

Ethan's opponent got a severe nose bleed. He was being overpowered with overwhelming force. Telekinesis put a huge burden on the human mind. Having someone use the same ability Ethan had against him. Hilarious.

I watched Ethan crush the other telekinetic. I patted Savannah on the shoulder before getting up, and heading down to the prep rooms. It was going to be my turn soon. I pulled the beanie a little lower. Couldn't have anyone seeing my hair color change.

I stood in the corner. Ignoring the other men that came into the room. I smiled as I looked across the room at Luke. It would be hilarious if he was my opponent. Especially since I'd already trashed his big brother.

Some good luck would be nice for once. I smirked at him. Making him go pale, and look away. I wouldn't have to fight again today. I was ready when the lights clicked off.

I didn't have to wait very long before the door opened up. I walked out of the prep room out into the light. I was the first one out of the prep room this time. They all saw what I did to my last opponent. No one wanted to get in my way.
