We wandered around for a little while longer. I ended up being in the lead after my considerable show of strength. I decided to throw Jax at one of the few remaining opponents we had left just to see how he manipulated his element. Wanting to figure out how he controlled earth, and use it as an example for when I used my own. Jax was a brute force fighter. Using his earth spikes to force his opponents in close, if they could avoid them, and circulating his mana throughout his body to reinforce himself to superhuman levels.
Now his muscular frame, and dominating mindset made more sense. He was used to dominating any opponent he came face to face with. The more mana he circulated within himself. The more superhuman he became. Boosting his strength, and toughness to ridiculous degrees.
I doubted that was all his trump cards. Just by looking at his casual way of beating his opponents down I could tell his biggest weakness was speed. I wasn't even sure how effective my gloves would be on him if I were to shock him. Plus I didn't know the limit these gloves had or their recharge time. My mana had recharged the glove to be used almost instantly after I'd shocked Baron.
I hadn't noticed the effect at first until I'd had time to ponder while I was waiting for everybody else to get healed up. Did that mean that anyone who had mana could instantly reuse beast equipment's skills, and abilities? It was an unfair advantage to anyone else using beast equipment if mage's could just recharge the equipment's skills like that. It had only cost me two mana to recharge the gloves as insane as that sounded. It was such a small amount that it could be considered almost negligible.
Normal ability users had to wait for the equipment to recharge its own mana over time. If mage's could just snap their fingers, and refill the equipment's mana pathways like I had done then no normal ability user would stand much of a chance. All a weak mage had to do was pick up a piece of beast equipment, and they instantly became a problem. I was startled out of my line of thought by the finishing bell. The ground shifted in a way I was very familiar with by now.
"This whole place is a simulation hall?" I watched as the debris from the destroyed cityscape around us melted into the ground turning a plain white color.
There were several downed students laying a good distance from us, and only two other students still standing. One of them was the sniper. Apparently he'd survived until the end. He wasn't actually all that far from us. Excitement dominated my emotional state for a second as I took off at full speed towards the sniper.
He looked panicked for a few seconds when he saw me running his way. Only for me to stop a good twenty feet away.
"You do the exploding bullet thing right?" I would have started bouncing up, and down out of excitement as I was walking towards him if it was anywhere near acceptable for someone my age to do that kind of thing, "You killed me in VR before. Your ability is awesome."
He relaxed at my excited tone.
"Yeah," his tone was a little nervous.
"An ability like that has to have some negatives," I stopped about five feet away, and got looked at funny since my excited tone contradicted my blank face, "You took time to change position, and fire at us. If I had to guess you have to charge it up before you use it."
"An ability nerd huh?" he cringed at my quick analysis of his ability.
"Yeah sorry," I scratched the back of my head, "I used to research abilities back when I thought I didn't have one. Wanted an idea of what I could do to improve once I got an ability. Sorry for bothering you."
"It's not a problem," his cringe lessened, "Nice meeting you."
I waved as I walked away. Heading back to my group as the arena announced that it was time for us to leave.
"What was that?" Jax gave me a dirty look.
"His ability allows him to make exploding bullets," I walked past him casually, "I thought his ability was cool. I wanted to know the advantages, and disadvantages of his ability. I came on a bit strong so I didn't get answers to my questions."
"Ability nerd," Savannah teased.
"Yeah yeah," I strode ahead.
Ignoring her teasing as I set off at a run. Leaving them in the dust as I rushed towards the exit. I was pretty worn out, and I wasn't sure how much longer my transformation would last. Biggest disadvantage of my growing size was the amount of time I could maintain my physical camouflage skill was reduced with each, and every increase in my true body size. I was quickly scanned for internal, and external injuries on my way out.
Right outside of the prep rooms were all the students that had been taken out during the round. Some of them were already waking up after their treatment which answered one of the questions I had when the round had finished. Where were the rest of the students. Seemed like the school had a way of pulling out the severely injured students. I rushed to the market to return the gloves to Gideon.
"Thanks," I barely stopped when I was dropping off the gloves, "Got to go."
Gideon looked surprised as I rushed away. I only had time to smirk at him before continuing on at full speed. Rushing back to my room so I could relax before tomorrows events. I tossed my clothes off as soon as the door closed behind me, and switched forms. My wings twitched since they wanted to be spread.
I laid on my side, and started spreading them as wide as I could. I moved further away from the wall, and kept moving away from the wall until I could spread my wings entirely. It was kind of an awkward way to spread my wings, but my wings liked it so I didn't really care. After that I turned on the hollo screen, and watched the other matches. I realized after a while that I could tell who was going to win just by watching the teams move for a few minutes.
