The Archaic Dragon Mage

Wyatt was alone in the world. When the rifts opened the world was thrown into chaos. Archaic mages came through those rifts, and war after war followed. The last war had ended when Wyatt was just a baby, but he had still lost his eye to it. The empty socket, and loss of depth perception made him an easy target. Wyatt being an orphan meant that no one back him up when he did get targeted. Wyatt was used to fighting for himself, and the draft was going to force him into military academy. He had no genetic markers to become an ability user so he had already accepted the fact that he would probably die during his two years required military rotation after the academy. It was just a fact of life. Non ability users were just cannon fodder, and archaic abilities were highly restricted. Wyatt didn't think anything off it. That is until he found a marble in an old rift area. A marble that would change everything.

"Oh," I wondered if I could do something similar with fire.

Wouldn't hurt to try? I let fire mana run down my spines, and ignite so that my entire back was ablaze. Well all the spines along my back were ablaze, but it looked impressive. I shook my head, and the fire followed the motion.

"Neat," I chuckled to myself.

I crossed the hall to the sealed entrance, and started getting a good look at it. I could break through pretty easily if I wanted to. I pushed on the wall, and it budged so it wasn't very thick. I ignored it for now, and picked up one of the rocks close to the entrance. A notification went off in my head.

User has found dragon egg. User lacks the light element required to revive egg. User must increase understanding of light magic to revive egg.

The dragon queen did say that she left the eggs with someone she trusted. I put the egg in my mouth to free up both hands, and shoved the wall down. Air rushed into the empty cavern. It opened up to a tunnel that was big enough for me to walk down freely. I started walking down the tunnel slowly so that my bonded could keep up.

I stopped at the end of the tunnel since it was half covered in plant life. It was dark out. I stepped out into the night air. Extinguishing all my flames as I did. The scent of salt was laced through the cold night air.

I debated on having my bonded wait here, but that didn't seem all that safe. I dropped the egg I had in my mouth into my hand.

"Climb on," I turned to look at my bonded, "You won't fall behind that way."

"I can barely see, and you want us to climb your scaly hide," Jax blurted.

I retracted my teeth, and picked up Ethan first. Dropping him into the notch that was for him. Then it was Savannah's turn. Jax was last. He squirmed like a child when he felt my jaws clamp around him.

"Ethan," I put the egg back in my mouth {Can you hold onto this for me?}

"Yeah," Ethan nodded.

I handed him the egg gently. It was one of the smaller ones, but it was still as big as his head. If all of those were dragon eggs than I'd found where they'd been hidden. I started out at a walk as I went down the path that up the cliffside to the cave. I didn't know where we'd been dropped, but it was nearly a sheer drop down to ocean right off the path.

I upped my pace to a jog, and that was when fear started coming from Savannah, and Jax. Ethan trusted me completely. I didn't go faster since it was largely unnecessary. I started seeing the lights of civilization through the trees. Wherever this island was it wasn't warm.

I strode down the cliffside to a cold sandy beach. I slowed as I strode through the sand. Walking toward the lights in the distance. Slowing even further as we got closer. Stopping just outside of the settlement.

"What are you stopping for?" Jax asked.

He was antsy to get back to civilization.

"They've already surrounded us," I scanned our surroundings.

"Not bad," A voice I recognized spoke out, drawing my attention to him, "Not bad at all."

"Werewolves," I cocked my head with a smirk, "This might work out better than I thought."

"How did our lost dragon get here?" he waved at the other wolves to calm them down.

"I asked a guide," I would have laughed, but it didn't seem appropriate considering the tension that ran through most the wolves surrounding us, "I should have figured it out sooner."

I glanced to the three humans clinging to my back, and laid down.

"Hop off," I tilted my head to let them know I wanted them off, "They aren't stupid enough to do anything to you."

Ethan was the first one to hop down. Sliding down my scales to a safe landing. Savannah followed suit. Jax wasn't so easy to convince.

{Get off or I'll knock you off} I narrowed my eyes at him.

Jax got off quickly after that. Sliding to the ground awkwardly, and nearly falling. He righted himself quickly, and tried to look presentable.

"I didn't think you'd be coming here so soon," the alpha chuckled mostly to himself, "I heard there was some trouble with you getting caught, and then vanishing into thin air."

My wings extended slowly, "I tend to cause trouble everywhere I go."

"That means you'll cause trouble here too doesn't it?" the alpha raised a brow.

"I don't intend to," I shook my head wryly, "You're not half bad."

{You like him then?} Ethan asked.

{Yes} I nodded slowly {I don't think he'll do anything to harm us.}

"I didn't expect you to be so big," the alpha chuckled.

"I didn't expect you to be so weak," I cocked my head to the side out of amusement.

Several growls came from the human form werewolves surrounding us. I growled back, and released my murderous intent full force. Half the werewolves surrounding me fainted. The alpha was the only one that seemed to be mostly unaffected.

User is using Murderous Intent level max. There are two evolutions available.

Advanced Murderous Intent- This skill is as described. A more Advanced version of Murderous Intent. More powerful, and more versatile than the original.

Bloodlust- This skill is another branch of the intent based skills. The longer that target(s) are under the influence the more they will feel that you are about to kill them, and consume them. This skill although more simple, and less versatile has a stackable effect, and leaves a lasting impression on anyone or anything that is hit by it's affect.

Oh that. I forgot about that. I have skills to evolve. I completely spaced those. Between the near death experience, and the imprisonment, I'd been pretty preoccupied despite my lack of things to do.
