Chapter 19: New Faces
I called Luke the previous night and agreed to go with him. I was nervous, but I was also excited to meet the rest of Luke’s pack members. The few that I’d met were neither friendly nor rude.
“What about your yellow dress?” Alex asked.
I called her because I needed help picking out what I wanted to wear. I told her I was meeting Luke’s family. It was the best I could make up on the spot and it wasn’t exactly a lie.
“No,” I said, shaking my head. “That would make it seem like I was trying too hard.”
“What do you mean?” she laughed into the speaker.
“Yellow!” I yelled out the color. “It’s too inviting.”
“So, what you’re saying is,” she said slowly, “you don’t want his family to think you’re inviting?”
“I don’t want them to think I’m too inviting,” I corrected her. “There’s a difference.”
I could practically hear her rolling her eyes. “You’re right.”
“I am,” I said firmly.
