Patch POV
“Patch, what do you think about the principle of magical easement?” Graydon Chalice asked.
Anneliese rolled her eyes and passed a basket of golden-brown rolls around the dinner table. “Here we go.”
Across the rectangular table next to Edna Chalice, Dirge gave him a look that said he didn’t envy Patch and then proceeded to eat his soup with gusto.
In the flickering candlelight, Graydon’s big head and face looked formidable. Patch swallowed.
He was used to this. Jiro and Dane could debate a point to death, with Kyon sitting back and refereeing when things got heated. Looking back, it felt only natural that his oldest and his immediate oldest brothers would both be Alphas.
He took a roll and the plunge. “I don’t really know much about it. Sir. I know what an easement is but I don’t know where magic fits in. Enlighten me, please. Your case today had to do with it, which is why we’re talking about it.”
