Confused

Nyx drew backwards in surprise, "What pup are you talking about?" Her heart raced.

"Which other kind of pup is there? It's that simple, I will need a heir sooner or later anyways." He sighed.

"I do not want to make any pup, just leave me alone." She shifted on the bed.

"Just leave you alone? Why would I do that?" He arched his brow.

"That's because I don't want to make a pup with you."

"Huh? Am I any different from the other male werewolves?"

"I do not even love you." She muttered and wiped her eye.

He shifted closer to her, "Nyx." He called her softly.

She did not respond, she only shrugged.

"Hey come on, look at me."

She slowly turned and looked at him, "Yes?"

"What do you see me as? Is it because I just married you so you consider me some kind of beast?"

She looked away, she could not tell if he was a beast or something else. He was complicated, she really could not understand him.

He intrigued her sometimes and sometimes made her feel she was just the most unlucky human in the pack, again nr would sweep her off her feet and in the next moment she was already regretting ever knowing him.

"You are the Alpha, a powerful werewolf, what else am I supposed to see you as?" She replied quietly.

He wrapped his arm around her waist and made her face him, "No, I know you see me as something else." He shook his head.

She tried to avoid eye contact with him, "I don't know what else to see you as."

"You, just be honest with me. What do you see me as?" He asked again.

She looked at him in the eyes now, those pearl black eyes held no expression at all. They were just a paragon of cold, unfeeling beauty, it could capture the heart but it did her heart no good.

"I see you as an object of complication. You just seem to do things for your own pleasure. One minute, you're all playful and calm, the next minute, you are someone else!"

He blinked at her reply, "Is that what you think?"

"It's what I see you as." She replied, firm but timid.

He closed his eyes and exhaled deeply. He unwrapped his arm around her waist and drew back.

"Good night Nyx." He got down from the bed.

"Are you angry because of a question you forced me to answer?"

He stopped, "I am not angry with you, I am should probably be angry with myself." He stood up.

"Why are you so strange?" She sat up.

He closed his eyes and palmed his face, he almost screamed 'Because I don't really want to spend my life with you!'

He controlled himself and walked out of the room, closing the door gently behind him.

Nyx bit her lips and lay back on the bed, was it a crime saying the truth.

"He was the one who asked for it anyways." She shook her head.

...

Oberon walked through the hallway fuming inside. What Nyx said to him hurt him at the same time enraged him.

"Why am I even angry? She just answered a simple question." He scoffed and bit his lips.

" Why can't I just be normal for once. Nyx was right but it seems so..." He groaned.

He hastened his steps to his study room, he would at least have some peace there.

He got to his study room, the room was dark but he did not bother turning the lights on, he could see perfectly well.

"Why are you here so late at night Lord Oberon?" A voice startled him.

He blinked , it was his beta, Mark.

"Oh Mark, it is you. You startled me." He said.

"I am so sorry my Lord. I was just going through some books." He bowed.

He sighed and turned on the lights, he walked to a chair and slumped on it.

"What is wrong my Lord?" Mark asked concerned.

"I feel so suffocated, Nyx is not even my fated mate yet I have to put up with her." He groaned.

"What has she done?"

"She sees me as an object of complication, I mean I am complicated... to her!"

"Uhmm... I guess that is how she sees you for now. With time she will get to understand you better." He smiled, sitting down opposite Oberon.

"That time won't come Mark, I do not see it coming." He said bluntly.

"We never know my Lord, anything could happen. The tables could change." Mark shrugged his shoulders.

"Why do you think so?" Oberon asked him, he was a lot more calmer now.

"That's just life is my Lord, sometimes somethings we never expected change to come from, that is where we find the source of change itself. We never know, anything could happen."

Oberon rested his head against the chair, "All this is so tiring." He mumbled.

"Everything will be fine."

There was silence for some moments, Oberon raised his head, "Mark?"

"Yes Lord Oberon?"

"Do you think I did a bad thing by not telling her she's not my fated mate? She does not know I married her just to be coronated." He exhaled.

Mark lowered his gaze and sighed, he did not know what to say.

"She would be very heartbroken if she found out she is not my fated mate." He closed his eyes again.

"She is just like a pure lily caught up in the thornbush of my evil mind." He said.

"You should not think that way, you are not as bad as you think." Mark disagreed.

Oberon chuckled, "You do not know anything. I am not that good. I am not anything goodness." He laughed lowly.

Mark shook his head, a slight smile playing at the corners of his lips, "It will take you a while to realise the goodness in you, just a little more time." He said softly.

"Just get me something to clear my head." He groaned, "Thinking of what she said some minutes ago burns my insides." He bit his lips.

Mark nodded, stood up and left the room.

"I am an object of complication." He scoffed, "That is how she sees me." He closed his eyes.

"That Nyx... She keeps me wondering everytime. I wonder how she does that." He shook his head.

He sat up, this werewolf he just found was an object of complete wonder for him. She was just so different and had what the others did not have but she was just too gullible, too innocent.

Mark came in with a gourd and a cup, he placed them in front of Oberon.

"Thank you so much Mark." He smiled slightly.

He bowed, "You are welcome lord Oberon. I think I must retire for the night." He said.

"That is okay, you can go."

Mark nodded and left.

Oberon poured out some wine from the gourd and gulped it down at once. He sighed and poured for himself another one.

He took that one in sips, his head swirling with thoughts, his eyes closed.

Someone came into the study room unnoticed. The person walked towards Oberon.

"You do not have to be angry forever." The voice came softly, timidly.

Oberon opened his eyes and gave her an amused look.

"Nyx? What are you doing here?"

She sighed, "Just come back to the room." She pouted.
