For a split second, Adrian pulled the corner of his lips into a cunning smile and raised his eyebrows, making Ezra feel like scratching his laps until it bled.
However, Adrian immediately gasped and explained.
"Oh no, you misunderstand it grandpa! Auntie Elena was asking Jane if she is an awardee and she said yes. But Uncle Ezra seemed unfamiliar with the term so he asked if being an orphan was one of the eligibilities to receive the foundation's scholarship," he said, exposing Elena and Ezra's flaws but at the same time saving their faces.
Adrian had never lost in this tug of war against his kins. He knew when to pull the rope and when to let go so that his opponents fell on their butts.
"We help those who are in need the most, not just orphans." Eldrin was always tolerant of his eldest grandson, that's why he wasn't that much offended by what Adrian said.
Still, the old man let out a deep sigh and furrowed his displeased brows.
