Skylar's POV
Seriously. This is ridiculous. I fumed as his figure disappeared further into the shadows of the forest, his confidence almost infuriatingly unshaken. My anger only grew as he continued to ignore me.
He was really leaving me here.
"I don't get why you are so surprised." Salony snickered in my head
I ignored her.
"Excuse me? This is not a joke!" I shouted after him. "What if something happens to me?"
He didn't break stride, didn't even turn around. "Then try not to trip over a root."
My blood was boiling now. "Seriously? I could be attacked by rogue wolves, or—"
"Or maybe a squirrel." he tossed over his shoulder, sounding impossibly smug.
I huffed, crossing my arms. "Oh, great! And what if they gang up on me, huh? I bet they are plotting already."
"Maybe they will form a militia." His voice was calm, dripping with sarcasm, and I could almost see the smirk on his face.
Salony teased. "A true gentleman."
