2. Catching Firefox, Chapter 4

Everyone seemed ready to leave this instant. I was pretty sure they were not aware of how long it would take to travel to the other side of the planet. It was not like they could all fit into the private jet of my father. When I expressed my concerns however, their urge to leave immediately became only stronger. In hindsight, it probably would have been wiser if we would have left right that second, as shortly thereafter we were attacked once again. Of course by none other than our werewolf-turned bodyguard. He was crashing through the window as if it was made of sugar. Perhaps it was. I wasn’t sure about anything anymore. Candy houses after piñata-zombies didn’t seem that far off. Very much to my disgust I noticed that he didn’t look human anymore at all. He looked just like a giant wolf. I could only tell that this was once my bodyguard by looking at those flashy sunglasses he was still wearing. The butler tried to use his multi functional umbrella on the beast, unfortunately with very little effect. Hitomi and Sora, the Explorer combined their fox-powers and tried to stop the intruder, he was however way too quick for them. The wolf bit the Explorer’s sword in two, when he was swinging it at the beast. Without a weapon the Explorer was an easy target. Even though Hitomi and the butler tried to help him they were knocked out quickly and the werewolf then snapped at Sora’s face with his huge fangs. I thought he was going for the throat at first but somehow this werewolf managed to dig his sharp teeth deeply into his victim’s cheekbones. It was a very unusual and also puzzling sight, as the head factually isn’t the juiciest of human body parts. This poor Explorer however found himself in this very situation. As unfortunate as it may have been, his head was now stuck in a hungry wolf’s mouth and he was unable to break free. It was just like a fairy tale. With one crunchy noise the mouth then closed. The body fell to the ground and left a bloody pool. For some strange reason the creature didn’t proceed to attack us, but it certainly stared in our direction. Probably thinking about who to devour next. Luckily the butler somehow regained consciousness and struck his umbrella at the beast again. This time however the creature just grabbed his body and tore it in half as if it was made of paper. All the intestines rained down on the floor creating a color palette ranging from brown to crimson. It was a really disgusting display and not to mention a not very colorful or inspiring palette. After the werewolf had fulfilled his unnecessarily gory deed, he just left. Speechless I stood there for a while.

“How long are you just going to stand there?” I suddenly heard a voice say.

“As long as necessary, I don’t want any more trouble,” I thought but didn’t say it. Cassandra apparently heard the voice too. It was good to know that I hadn’t quite lost my mind yet. Cassandra then stepped closer to the Explorer, whose face just got bitten off.

“Yes? Are you trying to help me now?” he asked.

“You’re still alive?” Cassandra gasped.

“Yes I am a spirit. I don’t die as easily as you humans. It hurts like hell though,” he said. As I stepped closer as well I saw that his face was a bloody mess. It barely resembled a face anymore. If any time ever was the right time to throw up it would have been now. From personal experience I knew that it was usually too early or just really the wrong time to throw up. That at least people kept telling me. Although I always argued that it probably depended on the situation.

“What now?” Cassandra asked, while placing her hands on her hips.

“Never too early to throw up,” I said but then realized that she wasn’t talking to me. She just gave me a really angry look.

“Don’t worry. I’ll live. I just need some time. My body can recover quite fast actually. But we need to travel to Japan as soon as possible,” Sora explained. We somehow assumed that he was a powerful being that knew how to teleport but he did not so we had to take the airplane. In other words my dad’s private jet.

And so they all traveled to the Far East. The young master once again didn’t know the right time to throw up so he soiled a seat on the way there, much to the discomfort of everyone else. Fortunately however they arrived safely in the land of the rising sun, very much thanks to a skilled pilot in the young master’s father’s service. And as soon as they arrived, the Explorer quickly guided them the way to the true Firefox. You might wonder why this Explorer didn’t show them the way earlier and guided them to the Hut of the Fox instead. Well, let us assume he was just that kind of guy. Or perhaps his thoughts were now linked with Hitomi’s. I must confess, I am not all that well informed on this particular subject matter. Furthermore he had his face now wrapped in bandages and was therefore almost blind. So perhaps the loss of his eyesight triggered another kind of ability within him. But be that as it may, somehow the group arrived safely at a monastery deep in the mountains in the outskirts of Kyoto. The true Firefox you see, was said to be dwelling there.
