Chapter 29: A Taste of What’s To Come

*Atlas’ POV*

Heiro and I waited anxiously for the return of Deimos and Eris as we paced the front corridor of his home.

“What’s taking them so long,” he asked as he peered through the window at the setting sun. It was getting late and people were sure to be arriving at the bathhouse soon if they hadn’t already.

“It takes as long as it takes, darling. They’ll be here soon.” His anxiety was giving me anxiety.

After a few more minutes of wearing a path in the marble, we heard the sounds of voices and footsteps approaching the front door. Heiro rushed to it and threw it open, revealing Deimos and Eris on the other side.

“How was everything, do you have the dress? What does it look like?” Heiro circled them like a vulture.

Eris giggled and the sound was enough to bring a smile to my face and slow the rapid pitter patter of my impatient heart. “I’ve got the dress here, though I’m unsure what it looks like. Linos insisted I not see it until I was wearing it.”
