The 100 : The duty of a leader

(Slow Pace) When he died, Leon wouldn't have imagined that he would have a second chance. A new world, a new life, stripped of memories of the past ,remembering only what he loved and nothing more, armed with nothing other than his guts and body , how will Leon survive in this world torn by nuclear war and ruled by primitive civilizations ? Note : I don't own The 100 or any other characters that may resemble in any kind of way any characters form various shows and games. If I were to say that I own something, that would be my idea of changing a world, but that's what fanfiction is ain't it?

Chapter 98 - Our future

Within moments of leaving Pike's office, I knew that he would send someone to observe every single thing I do in this camp and with whom I meet and talk, just to be sure that I wasn't a traitor to his cause. It was definitely a paranoid move on his part, but alas, I have to admit that despite being the target of said paranoid move, I respect Pike for doing such a thing. It's always better to think that everyone is against you than to be fooled by thinking that everyone is with you.

Nevertheless, I couldn't play as Pike wants me to, not because I hate him or something like that, no, but because with him leading Arkadia, everyone would die once they run out of ammunition and the grounders manage to break through the front gate. Until this whole pointless war end, I will have to continue being a double agent for both Kane and Pike.

A few hours later, under the cover of the night, I made my way towards the abandoned area where Sergey was hiding and where Kane, Monty, Harper, and Miller met with me to debrief them about Pike's next move. We usually met in batches of two or so and rarely do all five of us meet here thanks to how much Pike loves putting guards on patrol. As soon as I crawled inside the room, the first thing that greeted me was a muzzle of a gun pointed at me, before it quickly went away.

"Sorry, Leon, but you never know who might stumble upon our place."

"You don't have to apologize. I'm not dumb, Sergey, I know that you and the rest of our friends are having a hard time here, but soon, everything would end."

"I hope so, brother. Anyway, Monty and his squad are waiting for you."

I followed Sergey deeper into the wrecked area until we could hear Monty and his team listening to Pike through one of the walkie-talkies.

"Now, we can't afford any more assumptions about who's a friend and who isn't, not your husband, wife, or lover. We are fighting on two fronts, and sadly, the war that could kill us before we can even realize is here, inside this camp. I'm ashamed to admit but we don't have any proof. However, we know who one of the traitors is. Marcus Kane, you all know him, and as much as it pains me to say it, the truth is that he let Octavia Blake escape, but not before telling her some rather sensitive information that led to the death of Lacroix and Mace alongside putting a few others in the infirmary of Mount Weather. That traitor and his friends sold us to the grounders thus helping the enemy weaken us. Whoever helped Kane in that stupid attempt of his will be hunted down and exposed for what they did to their own people, for what they did to us! Now, I ask you, my people, to use whatever resources, and personnel you need to make that happen. Dismissed."

Before any of them could say anything I interrupted them.

"It seems that Pike doesn't trust me. Sad, but not unexpected."

"Leon, what do you mean by that?"

"Well, Monty, our beloved leader called me to his office a few hours ago to have me find any incriminatory proof against Kane, however, it seems that he doesn't trust me any longer. Courtesy of your mother."

"Wait, you said that Pike asked you to work against Kane?"

"Kind of, and sadly for all of us, he's already suspecting me. We would have to play the same game as he."

All four of them looked at me, not knowing what I was referring to. After all, now that Kane is locked inside his room and with no way of contacting him without becoming a suspect, we would have to improvise by ourselves.

"Let me explain. We won't meet here anymore, because we can't risk exposing this place. We also need to change everything we usually did like our patterns to what we do in our free time. Find a different route to your work, talk with other people, we must act as if we aren't friends any longer. Above all, never contact Kane, let that to me."

"But then, you won't be able to go back into Pike's inner circle. He doesn't trust you and the closer you get, the more he'll suspect you. As you said, Monty's mother sees you as an enemy rather than a soldier like Pike. She would do anything in her power to stop you from becoming part of the inner circle."

"It's a risk I'm willing to take. However, if I were to suddenly act out of the ordinary then Pike would find something's wrong."

"How's that different from us doing it?"

"Well Harper, Pike doesn't think you guys are traitors, at least not yet, thanks to Monty being the son of one of his closes friends."

"How do we know that they don't suspect us? I don't think Pike would be so generous to tell you about this."

For the first time since we started this conversation, Miller decide to bring up a very interesting and valid point, which sadly I didn't think about it before.

"I don't know. The truth is that whenever Pike tells me something, which could be a test to see if he can't find the other traitors as they call us. We could always try bringing Bellamy to our side or at least make him believe that we are the good guys here. With him being quite close to Pike, we could learn if what he tells me is the truth or not."

"Even if what Miller said might be true, talking with Kane wouldn't exactly make us traitors in Bellamy's and Pike's, right? After all, he was our chancellor not long ago, besides he's also one of the few people that cared if we live or die."

"Bellamy is one of my friends and he knows me better than Pike does. Nevertheless, I doubt he didn't think of this possibility, and yet here I stand still free. He's in Pike's team, however, he's not completely blind to report everything to him."

"Well then, we would do what Leon suggests. From now on we won't me unless necessary, and if we came here we will do it as stealthily as possible. This place is the only place where Pike can't listen into, at least not yet."
