Allison returned home that night, having spent the day with Lydia, her redheaded friend to whom she often confided about how strange her family was and how suffocating her parents were.
She opened the door and saw her father sitting in the living room, waiting for her. Allison quickly tried to head upstairs to her room, but Chris stopped her before she could. He called her over and made her sit down across from him.
Allison braced herself for an argument, but the words got stuck in her throat when she saw her father, the strongest man she knew, with red, tearful eyes.
And so, tragedy struck the Argents, and Gerard rejoiced at this timely opportunity.
He played on his son's emotions, fueling his anger to aid in his plans, but it was Allison with whom he had the most success. The last conversation she had with her mother ended with Victoria smiling at her for the last time while Allison pretended to ignore her existence.
She was angry at herself, at the world, at Derek, at the werewolves, at Scott...
She would show no more mercy. Gerard molded her into the hunter she believed her mother would have wanted her to become, ignoring and forgetting the subtle hints that Victoria had done everything in her power to keep her daughter out of this world, always fiercely fighting to preserve Allison's youth and innocence.
Allison became exactly what Gerard wanted her to be.
Meanwhile, other interesting things were happening in Beacon Hills, even before the Kanima appeared. After becoming an Alpha, Derek started building a pack. He wanted to do it by the rules and principles he had been taught. He was honest with everyone he wanted to recruit, telling them everything before biting them, the best parts, like enhanced abilities, and the worst parts, like the lack of control and self-mastery they would have to learn. He also warned them of the dangers posed by hunters and gave them the choice. If they still wanted to continue, he would grant them "the bite."
Derek primarily targeted teenagers for their potential and the authority that wouldn't likely be challenged by them. After several adventures and conflicts, especially with Scott, who vehemently opposed this idea, believing the bite was not a gift and that being a werewolf was more a responsibility than a pleasure,he had numerous conflicts with Derek and his new Betas: Isaac, Boyd, and Erica.
Apart from them, there was also another human who was changing quietly, unnoticed by everyone. With everything going on, people had forgotten that she, too, had been bitten. This person was Lydia Martin.
Lydia was the only other person Peter had bitten besides Scott. No one knew why he did it, perhaps just on a whim.
But what was strange was that Lydia didn't become a werewolf or even a supernatural being, nothing happened to her. "The bite" either changes you or kills you, but it never does nothing.
Everyone chalked it up to an oddity and didn't look further into it. After all, if she didn't become a werewolf, it wouldn't change anything in their lives.
She was just a materialistic, superficial teenager, a diva who excelled in her domain. No one particularly liked her, whether on one side or the other, except for Allison, her best friend, one of the few people with a real connection to her, and Stiles, who was one of the rare people who knew the real Lydia, not the facade of a popular, superficial girl.
He knew her true personality, the strong, brilliant girl she was. She secretly excelled in almost every subject: math, physics, history, mythology, languages. She was used to manipulating people and getting her way with everyone at school, the lacrosse team, and even her boyfriend Jackson. Scott had even had some conflicts with Lydia when he became a werewolf, becoming stronger, more athletic, and naturally much better at lacrosse, quickly becoming the best player and even the captain of the team, dethroning Jackson.
Lydia didn't hesitate to play some schemes for her benefit, threatening to introduce Allison to other boys if Scott didn't listen to her. Lydia was a thorny girl, as beautiful as she was toxic.
Peter, whether by a stroke of inspiration or sheer luck, had bitten this red-haired diva just before his fiery death. Peter was a skillful werewolf, with extensive knowledge of supernatural secrets. He used a little-known and strange technique, which involves accessing a person's subconscious. Normally, you would have to pierce the back of the victim's neck with your claws, allowing you to access the victim's subconscious and even read their memories.
It's a risky technique that requires great finesse and can only be used by Alphas. It's also the only known way for a werewolf to access the subconscious, at least for them. But that's not what Peter did. All he did was bite Lydia on a whim, but when his final hour came, he didn't feel himself slipping away. He was still anchored, tied to this world, even though he was clearly dead.
He followed the link and discovered the young redhead he had bitten for pleasure, this stupid teenage diva, and also his ultimate, unexpected chance.
It took time to gradually break through her mental barriers, but after a few months, he finally succeeded. His physical body was dead and buried, but his mind was still sharp. While everyone was busy with the Kanima, he devised a plan to fully return.
Like a whisper, an enchanting voice in her head, he wormed his way into Lydia's thoughts, pushing the young girl to follow his commands. He urged her to drug the punch at her birthday party with wolfsbane, making sure Derek would be there, with his vigilance lowered.
She succeeded in drugging him into unconsciousness, then took him to the Hale house in her car. She brought Derek to where her uncle was buried, and Lydia used a strange ritual that temporarily took Derek's energy, endurance, and healing abilities and transferred them to Peter's mutilated body.
And so, that night, unbeknownst to everyone, Peter Hale made his return, whole, alive, but weakened. He wasted no time and slipped away, preparing new plans.
Scott, for his part, had always been inspired by his mother, a nurse who spent countless hours at the hospital, exhausting herself to save lives. That had always inspired him, and it was what he wanted to study.
A few years ago, he had found a job at a veterinary clinic, where he was learning a lot and loved his work.
The clinic was run by one person, Alan Deaton, Scott's boss, a man with a calm and wise demeanor.
Scott often sought his mentor's help and advice, without revealing everything to him. Deaton was always a good guide, knowing what to do and say, and he always seemed to know more than others. Scott gradually discovered that his boss and friend was much more than just a veterinarian.
He was a druid, a mere human aware of the supernatural and an expert in it. He had no abilities other than his extensive knowledge and great expertise in this field.
He was the former emissary of the Hale family. An emissary is the friend and advisor to a pack, guiding and helping them as needed. Deaton had retired after the tragic fire ten years ago.
Druids are rare and generally respected and valued.
Scott wanted to become a healer, following the example of his mother, Melissa.
A single mother who had practically raised her son alone, Melissa was a nurse who worked from Monday to Saturday with 12-hour shifts, working tirelessly for her son.
She didn't have many friends or acquaintances, just a few work friends. The only person she had a true friendship with was probably Noah Stilinski, the sheriff of Beacon Hills and Stiles' father.
Scott and Stiles had been best friends since elementary school, getting into all sorts of trouble together. Melissa and Stilinski often found themselves side by side in the principal's office. You could say that the two parents, who were raising their sons alone, had known each other for a dozen years.
And both had noticed the strange behavior, the improbable situations, the barely believable lies of their two sons recently, especially Stilinski, who is the sheriff, and in whose cases the two boys had often been involved,Derek Hale, the discovery of the Kanima master's identity, even though, for the sheriff, the latter was just an ordinary criminal, a young boy named Matt who had descended into a murderous frenzy, unaware that this same boy had a 6-foot-tall reptilian monster with fangs and claws armed with a powerful paralyzing venom under his control.
But both parents suspected that something strange was going on and that their kids were involved. Melissa was the first to discover the existence of the supernatural, she saw it with her own eyes.
The night the Kanima master died, before being killed by Gerard, he had invaded the Beacon Hills sheriff's office and caused a massacre, leaving only Stiles' father alive. Melissa, who had been called by Scott to come earlier, also went to the station, unaware of what was happening. He locked her in one of the cells, with Sheriff Stilinski cuffed to a bench nearby.
The Argents stormed the place, heavily armed. The sound of gunfire filled the air, and they threw several smoke bombs through the windows. The situation became chaotic. Matt, never having faced such resistance, panicked. Scott rushed in to help his mother and Stilinski escape. Stilinski had been knocked out by Matt earlier while trying to free himself.
Scott entered the room, ready to help the two adults, when Jackson followed him inside. For the first time, Melissa saw a supernatural being, even though she could hardly believe her eyes. Before her stood a humanoid reptile, and that wasn't the only shock. Her son, trying to protect her, had no choice but to transform as well.
And in front his mother's eyes, fur, fangs, and claws appeared on Scott's body, his eyes glowing as he fought Jackson in his Kanima form.
In the end, the Kanima fled after Scott was aided by Derek, but the situation was too dire. The station was filled with dead officers, and for Scott, his mother would never look at her son the same way again.
But the evening wasn't a total failure, Scott and Derek thought. Matt had been killed, they didn't know by whom exactly, but they thought it was the Argents. There was no longer a psychotic madman seeking revenge. Now, they just had to deal with Jackson. Scott, with his heroic heart, wanted to help him, while Derek, with his pragmatic heart, wanted to put an end to this dangerous threat.
But both had celebrated victory too soon, the Kanima had found a new master, one far more dangerous than the previous one.
Stilinski, for his part, learned "the news" later.
Peter appeared by Derek's side, claiming to help his dear nephew. After a beating from Derek, Peter was given the benefit of the doubt. Of course, Derek didn't trust Peter, but his uncle knew things, had experience, and was aware that from the beginning, Gerard had been playing him. Despite all the evil Peter had done and the distrust Derek felt towards him, Peter might still be of good use. Scott and Stiles were quite surprised to see the psychopathic killer they had stopped not too long ago alive and standing next to Derek.
Boyd and Erica were rudely captured by Allison and her grandfather. One by one, Gerard was weakening Derek. Isaac was the only Beta left with Derek, and he had turned to Scott, the only one Isaac saw as always trying to do the right thing.
All the "players" in Beacon Hills were preparing for the final battle, the one that would determine the winner.
Gerard made a strange move,he had his Kanima killed by its own claws, something that reassured no one. If Gerard made a move, it was always in his best interest.
Scott and Isaac, with the help of Melissa, now aware of the supernatural, went to the morgue to ensure there was nothing strange, only to find Jackson in a cocoon of his own venom, as if he were mutating.
While Peter and Derek were researching in the Hale bestiary,a document compiled by the family containing all they knew about the supernatural, they learned that the scaly beast that had given them so much trouble and dominated everyone with its abilities was only the beta form of the Kanima. And at that moment, Jackson was transforming into his alpha form, stronger, faster, even developing wings to help him fly.
Scott, with Isaac's help, transported the transforming Jackson but was stopped along the way by Chris. However, Chris was alone and showed no signs of hostility or carried any weapons.
Chris Argent had noticed how his daughter was changing, losing herself in anger and Gerard's manipulation. He did something he never thought he would do,he joined Scott and Derek's side, even though he only trusted Scott and had to restrain himself from killing Derek.
He helped the two and met up with Derek and Peter in an abandoned warehouse. Peter was hiding further away, weakened and not wanting to reveal himself to the Argents yet.
Gerard and Allison appeared, and Scott did what Gerard had been expecting of him,he brought Jackson to Derek.
After a fight in which Gerard paralyzed Derek's entire body, he ordered Jackson in his Kanima form to capture Allison, much to her shock, not understanding why her grandfather would do such a thing.
He threatened Scott, telling him he must obey for the sake of his loved one. He ordered Scott to pick up Derek and hold him firmly by the neck.
No one understood what Gerard was doing or why, except for Scott, who had discovered something about Gerard. When Scott had met and approached the old Argent patriarch multiple times, he had noticed a distinctive smell,Gerard was dying, his body slowly rotting from a cancer that would kill him.
Medicine had found no cure, but the supernatural did. He was going to become a werewolf and save his own life, even if it meant killing everyone present, sacrificing his son and granddaughter without hesitation if necessary.
Scott knew Gerard wasn't bluffing,he was ready to harm Allison. And Gerard knew that with Allison in his grasp, Scott, the lovestruck boy, would do anything to save her.
He obeyed; he had no choice, despite Derek's pleas not to do it, as everyone knew that once Gerard became a werewolf, he would kill Derek for the Alpha power. But Scott obeyed anyway, even though Allison had briefly become his enemy,he loved her, he always had.
So Scott approached Derek and Gerard. He could only apologize to Derek as he forced him to open his mouth and bite Gerard.
Finally, Gerard would have all his wishes granted. Disease would no longer threaten him, and he would have the power he had always envied in these werewolves, strength, healing, speed, heightened senses, and he would also become an Alpha.
Gerard raised his arm in the air, proudly displaying the bite, a sign of his rebirth as something more than a man, as the next new Alpha of Beacon Hills and leader of the Argents. He had plans to turn his hunters into werewolves too, making them stronger and faster; he had a whole plan of conquest.
Everyone watched this scene, defeated. Gerard had won,he had won everything. But then, a strange sight unfolded.
Black blood began to pour down Gerard's arm from the bite. The same black liquid also leaked from his eyes and mouth. Everyone watched this horror movie-like scene, not understanding what was happening. Gerard himself was terrified by what was happening.
Everyone was confused, except for Scott, who explained to everyone what was happening. When he discovered Gerard was dying, he quickly realized what Gerard wanted. This man, with his personality and cunning, always acted in his best interest.
"Gerard always has a plan; I had one too..."
So, with Deaton, he created pills that seemed medicinal but were actually filled with mountain ash. During one of his meetings with Gerard, Scott discreetly swapped his medication with the pills. It wouldn't harm Gerard, as long as he remained human.
And all Scott had to do after that was let Gerard win.
Derek was shocked by what he was seeing and hearing and asked why Scott hadn't told him, but the answer came down to one simple sentence: "You may be an Alpha, but you're not mine..."
Gerard became more and more grotesque, covered in the black fluids pouring from his orifices,it was disgusting. Gerard felt his end coming and gave one last order to the Kanima before collapsing to the ground.
"Kill them all."
Jackson looked at everyone with his reptilian eyes and obeyed the order. They were all tired, exhausted, or paralyzed, they wouldn't be able to resist the Kanima.
And that's when Stiles appeared and did what he had done before with Peter, changed the course of the fight.
He had brought Lydia with him. The Kanima was born from deep distress and a lack of true identity. Stiles knew this and had brought the only person Jackson had a real connection with. Though no one really believed it, she managed to pacify and calm the Kanima by speaking to him with an open heart. And for a few seconds, the Kanima retreated, and Jackson returned to himself. A few seconds that were enough for Derek, who had recovered from the paralysis, and Peter, who had been hiding nearby, to rush at Jackson and stab their claws into his chest.
To Lydia's great shock, she screamed Jackson's name as he fell to the ground, lying in his own blood.
The Kanima was finally stopped. Peter and Derek had killed this extremely dangerous threat, but to everyone's surprise, Jackson got back up. But this time, he didn't have reptilian eyes but blue eyes, no scales or tail but fur and fangs. What the uncle-nephew duo had killed was the Kanima, but not Jackson, who returned in werewolf form.
Thus, Gerard was defeated, Jackson was saved, though he decided to leave, unable to stay in this town knowing he had shed so much blood.
It was Scott and Stiles who had changed the course of events. The victory was entirely theirs. But after everything that had happened, Allison needed to talk to Scott, she needed time alone. Scott simply smiled,he would wait; he knew she would come back to him.
Scott was no longer the same as he was before this story. He had learned, he had grown, and he had won. He was gradually becoming the man and the werewolf he was meant to be..."
