Chapter 2

'The only issue I have is having to actually obtain the tools needed to actually do this...' thought Damien as he quickly realized that he couldn't just jump right into this.

'Looks like I'm gonna have to create another AI capable of doing all the work for me...'

Although Damien could obtain all the tools himself, he was a very lazy person and if he could skip out on doing alot of running around, he would.

It was also alot more convenient and would help him in the long term if he just spent his time creating another one.

If it was any other person who specializes in Artificial intelligence it would take them years to do what damien was about to do.

However, in Damiens past life he was all about efficiency.

Naturally he simplified the process of creating an ASI by quite a bit.

He created a programming language just for it and even made it so it can run on shitty equipment.

Damien looked over at his PC and thought:

'Definitely a shitty piece of equipment...'

He sighed in regret.

Damien regretted alot of things in life but his biggest regret was not saving up his birthday money and not spending all his money on worthless garbage.

although he didnt need a super good PC, it would just make everything alot easier.

Damien opened up his web browser and looked up create documents.

he wasn't sure if the companies from his past life still existed.

what showed up surprised him a bit.

Microsoft word showed up as well as google document's.

He opened up microsoft word and started writing his code.

the reason he did it in microsoft word was because he wouldn't have to go through the process of manually saving the code.

it was lazy of him but it was efficient in his eyes.

he had no time to waste.

he only had a week of summer break left.

'I should be able to create a AGI in at most the next week.' Damien thought as he stood up and cracked his knuckles, preparing himself to have to put in the long hours.

'I really don't want to have to do this but i know its gotta be done in order for me to do anything with my miserable life...'

Damien sat back down and immediately got to work.

In what felt like an instant to damien, a whole week had already flown by and he had to go back to school the next day.

Luckily over the past week Damien had slowly started to gain the memories of his new body back.

he was relieved because he didn't know how he would be able to live in this world if he couldn't even recognize his friends.

'I really outdid myself this time!' thought Damien as he had a big, goofy ass smile on his hideous face.

Damien shot past his goal of creating an AGI and was 12 hours away from compiling enough info for the ASI to be born into this world.

Damien was excited, but it wasn't like he was super excited.

This was not Damien's first time creating an ASI.

He had already done it an uncountable number of times.

It was much more satisfying the first time he did it because he had to work his ass off day and night with outdated programming languages for a couple years before he was even able to create an AGI.

To others this would be considered very quick but to him it was 2 whole years of his life.

At the tender age of 14, 2 years felt like an eternity for him.

Damien looked at his clock and noticed it was 9 pm.

he knew he probably wouldn't be able to sleep for atleast another 3 hours which would be further prolonged if he was on any devices so he turned on the screen saver for his PC, turned down the brightness all the way, and hopped into his bed.

He was excited at what would happen the following day.

this would determine a majority of peoples future prospects.

After doing some research the week before he found out that the world was nothing like what he thought.

It was like planet earth but it was as if earth had been expanded by hundreds of times.

the continents were all the same shape as size but there were just more continents overall.

They just showed up seemingly over night.

He also found out more about the world's situation in terms of the mutated creatures.

it was currently the year 2532 and 500 years in the past the world suddenly underwent shocking changes in the span of a couple months.

A strange new energy was starting to appear on earth that influenced the physical traits of animals and plants causing them to grow in size by dozens of times.

This also caused them to experience increased intelligence and were tired of being oppressed by humans for far to long.

An attack was launched on the human race which took billions of lives in the short span of a year.

However this was only the beginning...

A year after the strange energy refered to as bio energy by westerners or qi by people of the far east, strange wormholes started appearing all over the world.

However it had to be known that pretty much everyone called it qi and that names of things that pertained to cultivation we're all petty much named by the people of the far east. There was no need to create new ones and it really didn't matter at all.

Mutated beasts came out of these portals however they were hundreds of times stronger than the ones that humanity faced before.

Backed into a corner, ancient sects that had existed for hundreds of thousands of years showed up, seemingly out of nowhere.

They helped fend off the fierce beasts while also teaching humans how to awaken their cultivation talents, also known as martial spirits, to absorb qi and use it to enhance their physiology.

Humanity quickly grasped this opportunity and learned how to use and manipulate qi.

And for the past 450 years humanity has been at a stalemate with the mutated beasts.

After humanity finally got their shit together they set up hundreds of thousands of base cities all around the continents, acting as shelters for humans.

And although humanity was at a stalemate, they had previously lost a large majority of their territory to the mutated creature's.

One other thing Damien had discovered was that his computer wasn't as shitty as he thought.

It was actually extremely powerful and only looked old because Damien liked the aesthetic.

In reality the PC was only the size of a penny and everything else was just for decoration.

The casing was actually filled with a malleable and slightly soft substance.

The monitor was also completely empty.

Damien sighed at this as he brood over this information.

Humanity was just to pitiful.

He had also guessed as to why technological development seemed to stall.

It's not that it stalled completely, it was that humans had to direct all their resources to military development.

And at the beginning he thought to himself:

'Why don't they just create an ASI like originally planned?'

The reason why they couldn't create one is because they didn't have computers powerful enough to create and nurture one.

The mutated creatures kept on destroying them.

Atleast, this is what Damien thought.

He had no way of verifying this yet.

Damien shook his head as he tried to clean these thoughts out of his head.

It was already 10 pm and he didn't feel sleepy at all.

he sighed as he knew he was most likely gonna spend the whole night staring up at his ceiling.

he wanted to shed tears but he couldn't.

'This insomnia has been plaguing me since I was young...' he thought as he rolled over onto his side, hoping that he would be able to find a comfortable side to the pillow.

However his wish wouldn't come to fruition, and his pillow was warm on both sides.

Damien sighed in frustration and defeat as he closed his eyes and waited.

___________

The next day Damien woke up and looked at his alarm clock.

It said 7 AM.

He had no idea when and if he had even fallen asleep the night before but he felt completely exhausted.

He couldn't wait until the ASI was finished so he could say goodbye to a body that needed sleep.

Or better yet, he could force himself to fall into a deep sleep with just a thought.

Damien got up and crawled out of bed, got dressed, brushed his teeth, and washed his face.

Although he was incredibly tired, he was feeling very impatient and wanted to get to school early.

It was the big day after all.

He felt bad for the people who might miss it.

This is something that would determine your future.

you could either end up awaken a strong martial soul and have your position in society immediately increased or you could end up plunging into the depths of despair because you got a piece of shit.

There have been cases where people have literally gotten shit as a martial soul.

Thinking of this Damien shuddered.

'I really hope that doesn't end up being me...'

Damien looked in the mirror and immediately ruined his mood.

he was just so ugly and it had been like this for as long as he could remember.

Even after basically becoming a god in his past life he was never able to get over it.

And he couldn't bring himself to change the way he looked through outside means.

After all this was the body he grew up with.

But now that all changes.

'it doesn't even matter if I change my physiology. the body is like a machine that follows the commands of the brain...' Damien thought as he convinced himself that it would be okay to change himself.

what he planned to do would shock the world if it got out.

this was something that could completely change the outcome of the war against the mutant creatures.

Damien looked at his phone.

7:35 AM

'Its time to head out...' he thought to himself as he stepped out of his house.

Damien tightened the straps on his bag and started jogging.

He started to look at his surroundings and noticed that they didn't really look that much different compared to his other world.

the only thing that was different was the quality of the pavement and the quality of the cars on the road.

he knew the reason for this was because since the world was hundreds of times bigger, humans would need more efficient means of travel.

the only thing he didn't understand was how Earth's gravity didn't also change.

More volume of the earth would mean more mass and more mass would mean higher gravity.

but that wasn't the case.

It was like some strange force was acting upon this planet, negating the gravity.

He didn't think to much of it and sped up.

there was nothing he could do about it anyway.

When Damien focused back to the real world he was already approaching his school.

he noticed that his school looked completely different.

he couldn't even see it to begin with because it was surrounded by a huge wall.

it was like a fortress for a nuclear disaster or zombie apocalypse.

'Jesus christ, they must've went all out on this placed....' Damien thought, slightly impressed.

Damien walked up to the school gate and took out his ID.

Security was tight at institutions like this.

Humanity couldn't risk having beasts sneak into the schools and kill potential geniuses.

After scanning his ID he had to put his finger on a device that would prick his finger to take blood.

After it did that it took only a few seconds before it displayed on the small screen:

'Access Granted'

'This place is more secure than Area 51...' joked Damien to himself.

Damien walked into the school and walked towards the actual entrance.

the entrance he walked through before was only to get through the wall.

the main entrance to get into he actual building was a few hundred meters away from it.

He looked at his surroundings and noticed that the outside of the school was actually quite beautiful.

It looked like the garden of some mansion.

And he knew from doing research that his school, even in his own base city, was not ranked highly.

he turned his head and was momentarily stunned by what he saw.

the giant wall was see through from their side.

this was a very smart move that gave them an advantage if they ever had to go into combat.

he turned back around and walked into the building, up the stairs and down the hall, going into his classroom, greeting a few teachers on the way there.

Unlike before the revival of qi, there was only one class that you had to go to once you enter highschool.

Damien opened the door to the class and saw there were 5 people already in there.

'It seems like I'm not the only one who was excited..' thought Damien as he walked over to his seat and sat down.

"Hey Damien, I seen you came here early as well, huh?" said a voice right next to Damien.

Damien could tell by the voice who this was and he also saw him when he walked into the classroom.

Damien turned his head and smiled responding:

"yeah I couldn't help myself." responded Damien as a glimmer passed through his eyes.

What reflected in Damien's eyes was a very handsome boy.

He was 6 feet tall, had long, black hair, big eyes, succulent lips, eyebrows that were like swords, a straight nose and a fit body.

This was Damien's only friend named Andrew.

He was a mix of Asian and Caucasian but his skin tone took after his Caucasian side.

His facial features were the perfect mix of each ethnic category.

He had a very tragic backstory that was basically the same as a protagonist from a novel.

His parents tragically passed away in a battle with mutated creatures and he lost everything's crept for his adopted little sister.

However his little sister just so happened to have gotten kidnapped by some strange figure with an unfathomable cultivation realm.

It was Andrews mission to be strong so that he could get back his sister.

Damien was pretty sure that Andrew was actually the 'protagonist' of this world.

'If he ends up getting a bad martial spirit, than that's when I'm sure of him being the protagonist...' Damien thought as he sighed with frustration.

He was jealous but not to jealous.

he knew that Andrew would be stricken with good luck that masked itself as bad luck.

Fortunate encounters that no one would be able to obtain except him.

He would most likely get into extremely dangerous situations that would get anyone else killed but would somehow manage to get out with only minimal injuries.

Damien shook off those thoughts and continued to talk to Andrew a little bit.

5 minutes later the teacher came into the classroom and shortly after students started to pile in.

Everyone wanted to be early just so they could see what martial spirit they would awaken.

Another 15 minutes passed by and the bell rang indicating that class was now in session.

"Alright students, please be quiet and sit down!" said the teacher.

the teacher was a male that looked to be around 30 year old but had an age closer to 60.

He had short black hair and a pretty average face with heterochromia eyes and sharp eyes that looked like they could kill you.

"The way this is gonna go down is that the classes I. order will start to leave the building and once all the students are out of the building the awakening procedure will take place on track..."

"The teachers will be sitting at the sideline so if you have any questions feel free to ask us."

"Does anyone have any questions they want answered right now?" asked the teacher as he counted heads for attendance.

10 kids raised their hands at once.

"No? nobody has any questions?"

"Okay, we still gotta wait about 5 minutes before we can head out." said the teacher, completely disregarding the students with their hands up.

"..." the students were silent and were quite flabbergasted.

they had no words for this teacher.

5 minutes passed by quickly without anyone talking the whole time.

there were just alot of people checking their watches every 15 seconds.

soon enough the teacher got the alert on his phone and said:

"Alright everyone, follow me outside to the field. I'm gonna do attendance again once we get down their."

The students started leaving the classroom with Damien and Andrew trailing behind.

However there was one more person with them.

It was an extremely beautiful girl with white/silver hair, red eyes, pale skin with a healthy blush to it, full lips and long eyelashes.

She was one of their "friends" and, of course, was interested in Andrew.

But it wouldn't really be right to call Damien and her friends since they really never talked to each other even with her being all up on Andrew.

Her name was Leah Madison and she was naturally very popular not only due to her good looks, but her sweet personality that made all the men want to beat her cheeks, but all the women want to beat her face.

However they would never be able to act on this impulse.

Her background was very powerful in their base city with her father being the most powerful person owning a large trading firm and auction house.

Nobody knew anything about her mother though.

When Damien first regained his memories about her he wasn't even surprised.

'There is a 99% chance that Andrew is the protagonist...'

'There is also a 99% chance that Leah's mother has a very powerful background...' thought Damien as he looked over at the two lovebirds

They was all up on each other while Damien was just chilling on the sidelines.

'Oh my god... I feel like such a third wheel...' thought Damien as he gave an audible sigh and thought in his head about turning music on.

Although technological research was focused on the military, it didn't mean that technological development for other areas of life completely stopped.

Phones these days were rarely used and instead people opted for implants.

Damien put on some YoungBoy and relaxed.

He had long since died but his music was still there, although almost no one listened to it anymore due to him fading from people's minds.

To Damien, the music in the day and age was garbage.

He speculated it was because he wasn't used to it and didn't grow up around it directly.

Damien didn't even know why people and to go to school these days with backpacks.

you could have any information you wanted directly implanted into your mind.

About 5 minutes later Damien, Andrew and Leah arrived at the field.

What was there was a big stage with multiple pedestals, with what looked like stones on them.

Damien and everybody else there knew exactly what these were.

These naturally were the tools used to test talents.

Another 5 minutes passed by and all the classes had arrived.

After each teacher did a headcount they reported it back the principal and it only took a short moment before he went on stage and announced:

"We will now begin the talent awakening ceremony!"
