Tales of the Kingslayer

The lights inside the train flickered, and Heon was suddenly alone, saved from a dead body missing an arm and a mysterious cloaked man. He was trapped in the train running circle. A loop without a stop. The mysterious cloaked man proposed a deal. He would stop the train for Heon, but only after retrieving a missing key in the other realm. Accepting it, Heon woke up with a newly-attached black hand formerly belonged to the dead body on the train. He was teleported to a world of magic and sword. One where the most powerful king was murdered, and the blood-thirsty queen hunted for the assassin. Unfortunately, he found drawings of his face plastered all over the city. Wanted: Dead or Alive. Heon Lightwalker - the Kingslayer. At least, he got Sunny; an alleged murderer slash healer mage, and Azran; a bounty hunter who now stuck by his side due to unwanted association with him. Hopefully, they could survive the kingdom-wide manhunt. But, how would he find the key to fulfill his deal, when the key was going to be used to release the Great End? Was exchanging a key to his own real world equal to ending this parallel one?

Drifting Dragon

Being dragged from one world to another was not a fun experience. Furthermore, if the world he was dragged into had lost one of its kings, he was accused of killing the figurehead.

If he could, Heon would not participate in this whole ridiculous bullshit. At least, he wanted a choice in the matter. Like, he'd probably be fine if the world he was thrown into was full of peace.

Although, he did have a choice before being thrown into this world full of swords and magic. Well, not an honest, fair option, but the cloaked figure would just shove it in his face.

Talking about the cloaked figure, he was currently lounging on one of the seats on the moving train. It was the same train that went round and round on the same track. Never stopping. Passing station on district 9 again, just like before.

Heon averted his gaze from the window. Staring out of it would only remind him that he was stuck in there forever. Unless he did what the cloaked figure wanted of him.

To retrieve a key, he claimed it as his own.

"What's a Drifting Dragon?" Heon asked with an even breath. He had stopped struggling and let the black tendrils wrap around his body. Once he did that, they stopped squeezing the life out of him. Even if he couldn't move apart from his head.

The cloaked figure looked slightly up, but Heon could not see anything past his high cheekbones. His chapped lips were pulled wide, smiling like a real freak. "I believe you've seen some dragons flying above the terrain, yes?"

Heon remembered the one he saw on the walk to the harbor. "You want their tears?"

"No, that's just a normal dragon."

There should not be normal dragons, Heon thought to himself. Dragons shouldn't be real in the first place. This was just nuts.

However, he had no choice but to say, "So, what differs them from your Drifting Dragon?"

The cloaked figure continued. "Drifting Dragon always fly, they never lands, unlike the normal ones. It always drifts in the sky, forever and ever."

"And you want the tears of a dragon that always flies and never lands?"

"Yes, yes. That is very correct. I am glad that we are in the same page."

"How can I get it?"

"I am not a picky person. Use your creativity, I do not mind."

Heon gritted his teeth, and annoyance started to settle in once again. "At least tell me about it."

"Oh? Curious, now, are we?"

"DO you want me to succeed or not? Because I can just ignore you and forget about any of it if you want me to."

"Now, now," the cloaked figure pointedly held a hand. "No need to get so riled up, alright? We are having a civil conversation here. For once, that is."

Stifling a growl, Heon merely narrowed his brown eyes in response.

"There used to be three Drifting Dragon's Tears in this world. Given by the Drifting Dragon itself to three siblings several thousands years ago. However, due to their greed, they fought amongst themselves. The Drifting Dragon's Tears have the magical ability to make the one who drank it have one of the Drifting Dragon's abilities. But you don't really need to know about that, do you?"

Heon clenched his jaw. He wanted to get every information from the cloaked man, but he still preferred the man to talk immediately. Because, unlike what everyone thought, he tried to get it done immediately so he could go back to his own world.

"All you need to do is to get the Drifting Dragon's Tear and I will bring you back to your own world."

"Oh, let me guess. The Drifting Dragon is floating away in the sky above, right?"

The cloaked figure completely ignored his sarcastic remark. "Correct."

Then again, he asked, "Do you need me to remind you that I can do no magic? Let alone fly to the sky and look for the Drifting Dragon."

"But, of course, you can!"

"Of course, I can't– wait!" Heon contemplated it for a moment. "What do you mean I can? Like, I can do magic?"

"Why would I make a deal to a non-magic user to retrieve a key for me? That would be a very foolish move on my part, would it not?"

But he had tried. He couldn't do any magic. The least he could do was to stop a huge tiger and summon a fish. A freaking fish. Oh, and a Kraken, too–

His left hand burned. It was black. Always right after, he miraculously used his 'magic' power.

"What kind of magic, is it?"

"Hmm?"

"What kind of magic did you give to me?"

"Catching up, now, hmm?" The cloaked figure chuckled again. "You called it beast taming."

"Beast taming?" Heon repeated, testing the word on his tongue. He remembered what Sunny babbled over and over again. 'You can control beasts.'

He wanted to laugh at that. So he did. That was until his mind truly did catch up to things.

"I called it beast taming? But I don't know anything about it," Heon murmured, eyes narrowed again in suspicion. "I take it the me of your world is the one who can tame the beasts, huh?"

A vicious smirk stretched on the cloaked figure's half-covered face. "Was."

"I already dead?" Sounded so strange, he repeated, "The me of your world is already dead?"

"Unfortunately."

"What did you do?"

"Me? I didn't do anything, if you're wondering."

"You're lying."

"You killed yourself," the cloaked figure added without any hints of emotion except glee.

"That's impossible."

"I am saying the truth. You killed yourself because you did not think you can escape from the consequence that followed you."

"I'm not that weak."

"That is dependable."

"I don't believe you."

"You do not have to," the cloaked figure said. "You only need to do the end of your deal. Simple, is it not?"

"There is nothing simple about it," Heon growled, glaring at the cloaked figure in front of him. "Even if I have this power to tame beasts, my hand always hurts and burns."

The cloaked figure tilted his head to the side, humming to himself. "I made sure all of your nerves and magic pathways are connected. There should not be any trouble."

But then, the cloaked figure turned on his heel, saying it to the one behind him. "You really like to make it hard for yourself, do you not?"

It was only then that Heon caught who he was talking to.

On the otherwise empty seats of the infinity train, a corpse that dreamt of a happily ever after.
