Sparring with William

Lin Cian was very eager to spar with William after returning to the Beginners Knight Academy. The same goes for William.

They stood opposite each other. William chose the forward stance. Lin Cian also stood in his forward stance with his dagger in his forwarding grip.

Both of them stared at each other for a minute until William decided to start. William rushed toward Lin Cian while his spearhead is pointed toward Lin Cian's chest.

Even when William was very close to Lin Cian he didn't make a move. Once the spear reaches very close which is a moment to thrust his chest Lin Cian switched his dagger to reverse grip and pressed the face of the dagger in his forearm to parry the spear while tilting his body to let the spear pass without hurting him and he holds the spear with his left hand. He again switched the position of the dagger to the forwarding position and put it near William's throat.

These things happened in a blink of an eye even William didn't expect that. Lin Cian smiled at him and released his grip on the spear and took away the dagger.

William came to reality after a few seconds and they started once again. Either Lin Cian or William both were very fast and they actively looked out for the loopholes of others to exploit their weakness.

Both of them have improved a lot. Other students who saw them spar were literally stunned by the way they fight.

Lin Cian is good at controlling the fight but William is good at suppressing the opponent. So both of them were equal in the view of others.

Speaking of which they were been sparring for more than two hours. The ground was filled with more and more students but no one started to practice because the scene of Lin Cian and William sparring was a feast for their eyes.

Many students were stunned and many were looking as their eyes widened and their jaws dropped. There were also nobles in the group. They have never thought that William is so powerful because they used to mock William for not having skills but the way William and Lin Cian sparring each other without any skills made them ashamed of themselves.

But no one knew what awaits them after that moment. After two hours passed the phase of the training still didn't seem to be lower suddenly William's spearhead shined with golden light. He sliced using his spear in the air in the direction of Lin Cian who widen his eyes.

A golden-colored crescent-shaped blade formed out of thin air. It soured towards Lin Cian at a breathtaking speed. The first form of the profound art of spear; 'the golden slash'

Lin Cian focused his energy on his legs and started to move as someone would glide over the ice. A self-made skill of Lin Cian to help its user to maneuver quickly with less energy depletion. He called it 'Glide' and was his second self-made skill. Lin Cian can move for five meters in one glide at this level.

He glides himself to safety but what awaited him is a surprise. William pointed his spear at him which shot a ball of light towards him at a high speed. Lin Cian immediately found that William have mastered the skill which he gave to William.

'The profound art of spear' is adopted from a high-level single attack skill of Lin Clan and also 'soul spear skill' which is a foundational skill. Lin Cian assumed it to be a low-level skill but to his surprise, it was pretty powerful.

But the way William use the skill was pretty awesome because he had many forms to fight with. After a while of playing with the light ball and the light slash, William raised his spear over his head and rotated for once, and a halo with the diameter of the spear formed above his head, and when the spear descended towards the ground the halo descended from towards the ground and in an instance, it exploded everything around him. It happened in a blink of an eye. The actions made by William don't seem to be focused but he did them casually. If Lin Cian didn't act fast enough he would have flown over a few feet before landing.

After that William doesn't seem to stop. When Lin Cian looked at William after the previous attack he was standing straight with his left hand free and the spearhead is pointed downwards while the shaft is pointed upwards behind his right arm.

Lin Cian shot a water bubble because it was very suspicious to see William stand still so Lin Cian assumed something only to get shocked when his assumption is true.

When the water bubble reached William he stretched out his left arm towards the water bubble suddenly a layer of light covered him and blocked the water bubble.

'Targetted attack, crowd attack, and defense? He is a monster now!' Lin Cian screamed at himself the more and more William displayed his power the more and more Lin Cian was excited. But he was unconscious about his smile.

Both Lin Cian and William stared at each other for some moments. William stood with confidence but Lin Cian smiled at him with a cold stare. In a blink of an eye Lin Cian

Disappeared

The whole crowd was shocked at this moment with no one to be an exception. The staff of the academy was stunned; they were stronger than Lin Cian but they couldn't sense his presence.

The sparring session of William and Lin Cian was not very quiet to avoid the attention of the staff. Even the principal of the academy was personally present in the area to watch the match but also to supervise and avoid accidents.

William didn't change his stance as he stood straight while holding his spear single-handedly. In a minute or so William waved his spear at thin air and Lin Cian came into the view leaning against his slash of William.

Suddenly William sensed something near his neck and it emitted a cold aura. William couldn't believe it as his eyes widened as he realized something. Not only him but the whole crowd went crazy witnessing the scene.

Lin Cian who is in front of William suddenly disappeared. It is a body double. The real one was the one who pointed his dagger in William's throat. It was the fourth skill of Lin Cian; the doppelganger that allowed him to produce body doubles.

William turned and saw his small brother retracting his dagger from his throat. William dropped his spear and hugged him and whispered as his eyes filled in tears and joy flowed in his heart.

"Thanks"

Lin Cian didn't expect that. But he was happy too.

"Thank you too" he replied.

Then both stared at each other for a few moments while their hands didn't part.

After a while, they walked out of the training ground as the students of the school looked at them with their mouths widened because none of them could get through this kind of spar without a serious injury or at least the mental depletion but both of them seem to be fine.

"They were monsters" the students started their rumors and fantasy about the strength of William and Lin Cian but the principal of the academy ordered them not to reveal anyone about the strength of William or Lin Cian and will be punished if disobeyed; thus shutting everyone.

While returning to the room Lin Cian shout at William excitedly "I thought 'profound art of spear' is not even a 1st-grade skill!"

"Yes it's not," said William with a smile.

"What?" asked Lin Cian with a confused look.

"The skill a low-level skill as you say but the profound way it teaches to guide the soul energy let the skill to evolve," said William in a very calm manner making Lin Cian drop his jaws unconsciously.
