The five bald elders of the Hachiman clan looked at the scene in front of them, after the junior elder had finished clearing all the natural resources from the surrounding area a black swirl formed.
In a few minutes that black swirl kept growing bigger and bigger until it became two meters tall and a meter wide, it was called a dungeon gate.
Dungeon gates did not just suddenly appear somewhere but they could spawn practically anywhere.
This gate had disfigured the plants in the surroundings giving them their black color.
A dungeon could only be found by a professional beyond its level, for example a rank 5 hunter couldn't find a rank 5 dungeon.
Though, the effects would be visible to his eyes if he dared to excavate it he would suffer poisoning that would slowly kill him.
A rank 0 dungeon was even worse, because there was no rank higher than rank 0 a special suit needed to be worn when excavating it or death would be wide-spread. Since dungeons could appear around anywhere, it wasn't an unknown case when several people in a specific area died.
This what made dungeons very terrifying, and if only dungeons were this terrifying.
One could only image the perils of the war humans were fighting against.
"Who is going to supervise the little brats?" One of the elders said suddenly.
All of them looked maliciously at the weakest of them all, he couldn't help but gulp when he felt the pressure coming at his back.
Even though he was the weakest it didn't mean they had to pick on him like this!
"Calm down, let's do this like civilized men. How about we duel it out on a five way and the first to drop loses?"
"No, that will severely damage this place. We need to use a method to ensure that the youngsters will not faint once they see the damage."
The four senior elders began to ponder, these days their head was filled with if not destruction, then training. There was no room in their brain to accommodate any other ideas.
"What do you think?" One of the elders asked.
The person he was talking to looked in shock, the junior couldn't believe he was given a chance to decide.
He was excited to say the least.
"What about rock, paper, scissors?" He suggested suddenly.
In an instant all of the senior elders laughed.
"When was the last time I played that game?"
"65... 70 years? It's been a long time."
Originally he had thought it would be a good idea if they played the non-lethal game of rock, paper, scissors.
But he felt like screaming once he saw the full implication of his words, indeed, he should've kept his mouth shut.
The way they played it was unreal!
First the two oldest went, they both picked up a stone.
And they stood a bit far away from each other.
"Rock."
"Paper."
"Scissors!"
One of the elders threw a stone forward, his eyes almost widened when he saw the other participant throw up a scissors.
Boom!
A shockwave was heard after the stone moved forward, it found its way between the man's fingers.
The same fingers he had used for rock!
Was the power of the elder in front of him that strong, he was sure that if that stone had been lodged in him instead those two fingers would be unmovable.
"You still got it Alzbet!" The man who had chosen scissors commented.
"Really? I feel like I was slightly off in my aim." The elder named Alzbet smiled modestly.
'Are these people serious, that was strong enough to destroy a rank 2 boss! Am I really in the shallow waters compared to them.'
Although he could take on a rank 2 boss and come out unscathed he couldn't do it using only simple rocks, he had to at least use his fists! Like the rest of the elders he was a rank 0 but the difference between them was so wide.
The pinnacle of rank 0 was never found so it was believed that all rank 0's could grow infinitely.
"Next up, come right up!" Alzbet declared.
Another bald elder came up.
This time Matthew picked the scissors while his opponent chose paper.
Nothing unusual happened, the night sky was still peaceful.
'I thought they would use ancient magic.'
It turned out that the random bald elder lost, just like normal rock, paper, scissors, it was only when one chose rock that it got out of hand.
The rules were still the same, paper would beat rock, scissors would beat paper and rock could beat scissors.
After they had a few rounds and Matthew eventually lost it was finally his turn.
"Junior, what is your name?"
"Croix sir!"
"Croix..." The man began thinking as if he was imprinting the name into his memory.
"Junior, we made a mistake. You were supposed to go first, but now I guess you will be defeated either way."
Croix frowned at the old man's words, what he saw in his vision was an annoying, old man with a long beard yet bald.
Even though Croix himself was bald, the old man's baldness looked more natural.
"Rock."
"Paper."
"Scissors."
…
Jason looked at the potion in his hand, he was solemnly walking on the road. Sometime had passed since he had started training the attacking set of offhand and he could he was probably close to mastering it.
The defensive parts were the problem, he couldn't see himself mastering it without entering the dungeon. And even if he entered the dungeon, would he spend his time dodging blows from Goblin.
He doubted if he even had the patience for that!
Jason drank the potion in his hands, the potion disappeared subtly.
Since he became 10 years old in this new world he had nobody to talk to, his only companion was the bottle in his hand that he used to disappear for 15 minutes.
Unfortunately, he currently owed the system 600 P because of his uses.
Zane had been picking up on things he didn't master, hence they weren't registered as talents and his bills had been racking up.
If there was anything he feared, it was called a bill.
Jason had already become very familiar with layouts and with his enhanced speed he could run there in five minutes.
'I've never actually gotten my answer for that question.'
Jason thought as he observed the guards, as usual there were some that were out in the open and some were in odd hiding positions.
He had a few ideas but he discarded all of them.
Inadvertently, he looked at the timer.
[1:00]
'Timer's almost up.' Jason thought.
He had spent too much time pondering on useless things.
He sprinted, arriving just 0:01 seconds before the timer elapsed.
Jason wasn't feeling tired even though he had been moving, his body had been enhanced past the peak of human capabilities!
His purpose of visiting was to see if Zane had mastered any skills and they became talents, and also to have an opponent to practice offhand with.
But suddenly, Jason felt it.
He knew someone was watching him...
A dagger moved through the air, Jason turned his head and dodged the weapon by tilting his head, it had been specifically aimed to kill him.
But that was if it could hit him.
Jason's hand shot up and caught the dagger.
He looked at it for a second, before he was a bit alert but not now. He had noticed something unique about this weapon.
"I see you finally decided to visit."
