Chapter 1: What is your name

The world has been plunged into chaos as mysterious rifts began appearing in every corner of the world bringing fort monsters of unimaginable strength that devastated multiple cities, trampling on everything the human race have built into rubble and ashes, but before everything was destroyed before the humanity last hope is lost a brilliant pillar made of crystal fell from the sky.

The crystal shined brightly as it fell from the sky encompassing every human that have survive giving them a blessing which was in form of a rune that appeared on every human's wrist, and with the rune's help, every human was able to gain strength from killing the monsters that have once tried to destroy their world.

On the outskirt of a mountain, several fireflies were flying around the mountain, and with all the fireflies gathered and moving in every direction the darkness of night seemed to not exist in the mountain as fireflies illuminated the mountain like Christmas lights on a tree.

Inside the mountain, beautiful fireflies were flying around seven kids were chasing the fireflies, clumsily trying to catch them in their nets.

"Let's go home, sister Mary might scold us if we go back late." Said an Anxious Kid that wasn't trying to catch fireflies and is just standing close to the other kids.

"Come on Lucas no need to be scared, and if you think about it sister Mary might become happy if we bring these fireflies back to the orphanage." said one of the kids with a basket with 3 large fireflies inside.

"Jonathan is right Lucas sister Mary said fireflies back in the day were small and doesn't shine as bright as this, I'm sure sister Mary and the other kids will love them." said the kid as he grabbed Lucas in the shoulder and comforted him by putting a large firefly in Lucas empty baskets.

"Thanks a lot, Phil," said Lucas as Phil opened his basket and put one of his fireflies, leaving Phil with only one firefly too.

The kids continued playing as each of them tried to catch more fireflies in the mountain competing as to who will get the most of the fireflies and bring them back to the orphanage, however in a distance that is not too far away from where the kids were playing a shining red light started to appear and kept on blinking nonstop.

"I think we should go home now." said one of the kids as she started to get afraid of the ominous red light.

"yeah I agree with Lucy, I really want to go home now. " Lucas said with his hands trembling while looking at the Red light.

"Let's go, everyone let's go home for now. " Phil said signaling the rest of the kids that were with him, but looking at the two other kids with him Theo and Teresa whispering at each other, Phil made a headcount and noticed there were only 6 of them.

"Theo, Teresa where is Kite?" Phil said looking at the two with a frown on his face.

"The last time we saw Kite he was drawing one of the fireflies but we were too busy catching our own so we lost track of him. " Theo said unable to make eye contact with Phil.

"Sister Mary is going to kill me, this is all my fault. " Phil said as he already knew that he will get a punishment of some sort the moment they get home because he was the oldest in the group and the one who agreed with Jonathan's Idea of catching fireflies in the outskirt of the mountains.

Thinking about the current situation Phil got a strong feeling as to where Kite might have gone off too, Phil sighed as he slowly look in the direction of the red light that was flickering from afar.

"I think I know where Kite is. " Phil said looking at the flickering red light.

Drawing a large firefly that was sitting steadily on a tree stump, Kite looked at the creature like he was looking at the stars, he have heard a story from sister Mary on how the firefly back in the day before calamity struck humanity look like.

Comparing it with the current firefly that was sitting idly in a tree stump right in front of him right now the difference was immense the current firefly's size was immense compared to that of the past and its body was built like a light bulb that shined so brightly at night.

Kite was mesmerized by the creature that is shining brightly as he continued to draw the firefly and the surrounding around it with great details but At a distance not too far away from Kite and the other children.

Seeing the red flickering light from a distance, Kite's eye's shined with curiosity as he looked at its general direction like how would one look at the starry sky.

Without a hint of hesitation Kite's body started to move on its own without caring about the surrounding, the other kids besides him wasn't able to notice him who started moving in the flickering red light direction.

The kids weren't able to notice the red light as fast as Kite's and by the time they notice the red light and tried to return home, it was already too late Kite have already left the group by instinct as he ran toward the flickering red light.

Finally reaching the source of the flickering red light, Kite saw what it seem to be a black and red orb floating slightly above the ground emitting red light.

Kite sat as he looked at the orb floating above the ground, he immediately took out his notebook and pencil and stared at the orb mesmerized as he started to draw what was in front of him.

Mesmerized at the movement of the orb, the orb slowly began to contort as its circular shape began to be disfigured like something was trying to come out of the orb.

Sitting steadily a hand grabbed Kite by the shoulder, It was Phil who was looking at the orb as he slowly tried to pull Kite from his shoulder.

The other kids were a few meters away afraid to get close to where Kite was sitting alas, Phil took the courage and was the one that went to get Kite.

"I don't usually curse but let's fucking go. " Phil said as he looked at Kite with a contorted face which can be described as his annoyed face.

Kite looking at Phil stood up and move to where the other kids were standing, however before they can leave the orb that was contorting its shape started to branch out a bunch of tendrils that look like roots that in an instant grabbed the group of kids and any other living thing that it can reach.

Phil, Jonathan, Lucas, Lucy, Theo, and Teresa all the kids were now screaming in terror as they have been ensnared by the tendrils that came out of the orb except for Kite that is.

In the midst of the terror of the other children, Kite was calm and unmoving as the tendril ensnared and grabbed a hold of him, he just look at the orb which was now starting to form into that of a human shaped like creature.

The orb that was flickering a glowing red light was now gone and was now replaced by a slim humanoid creature with no facial features.

All seven of the kid were now witnessing a humanoid creature with no mouth, eyes, ears, or any other facial features that are until in the supposedly face of the creature with nothing to be seen an eye started to form as the creature started to look at it's surrounding.

Looking at the surrounding the creature seems to be uninterested as the screams of terror of animals and the kids was echoing in the surrounding.

However the creature began to notice Kite who was calm and silent unlike the rest screaming in terror like there was no tomorrow, Kite garnered the curiosity of the creature as the creature felt like the kid was staring into his soul.

A red glow began to appear in the creature's body as it quickly transferred into each of the tendrils shutting everyone that was ensnared by him by making them unconscious except for Kite.

The tendril that was ensnaring Kite slowly brought him to the ground and let him go, with this chance to run in fear and ask for help from the adults, Kite just sat on the ground as he pick up his notebook and pencil and tried to draw the creature in front of him with focus.

Looking at Kite the creature was wide-eyed as this situation shocked him, the creature slowly walked toward Kite, who was trying to draw him.

The creature sat in front of Kite with both the creature and Kite looking at each other with curiosity.

Staring at each other, the creature's face started to rip apart as a mouth slowly formed with sharp teeth being shown to the kite.

"What is your name?" the creature said as he talked to Kite with his newly formed mouth.
