"What the hell just... happened?" Kael was even confused from the unexpected result. He had finally made a connection with the abyssal heart, but that was only the first step. The glow resonating around him slowly died down as Kael rose from the ground, heading outside the cave.
"Just how many days have I been here?" He thought, staring at the distant darkness. Since his coming here, he hadn't once seen the light, just total darkness. The thing bothering him was that he wasn't even worried. Rather, he felt as if he was home after a long holiday. The darkness had now become his close companion.
[Congrats on connecting with the abyssal heart]
"Yeah, thanks." Kael muttered, disappearing from his spot and appearing below the cave. 'Now, the next step is to sense the abyssal energy from the abyssal heart and become familiar with it.'
Closing his eyes, he began breathing rhythmically, his breath coming out in short bursts. "I can feel it now," his eyes shot wide open and stretching his palm a dark purplish energy with a tinge of red was beginning to form.
BOOOOM
Just before the energy could fully morph into a tennis sized ball, it exploded.
ARGGHHH!
Kael screamed loudly. Pain! It f*cking hurts! The pain he felt was strange as if his mind had also been wounded by the attack. He managed to rise from the ground and felt his whole hand had been destroyed just from the attack.
"Shit! This is deadly dangerous," he thought. "Just a little of the abyssal energy had caused this?" He wondered what would have happened if it was a large ball of energy he had conjured. A slight chill ran down his spine as he realised he had just escaped death.
"It would have been so foolish to go that way. Thank goodness I was careful enough not to conjure a large ball of energy." He noticed two things just from his first try of the abyssal energy.
One, the energy was highly destructive, more destructive than the nuclear weapons in his previous world. Those were just toys before the abyssal energy.
Secondly, he realised the energy was extremely hard to control. The energy was chaotic and, if not handled properly, could even harm the user. Just like what happened to him minutes ago.
The bleeding from his wounds soon stopped and he watched in amazement as his flesh and muscles joined back, regrowing his lost limb.
"Alright. Let me try it again." He thought, closing his eyes this time around. He quickly channelled the energy within his heart to his opened palm. Once again, a dark purplish red energy was beginning to form, shaping into a tiny ball.
BOOOOM
Once again, he failed terribly in the task. "Ughhh," he groaned, bearing through the pain. The next hours he spent trying to control the abyssal energy, each resulting in failure.
"ARGGHHH!" He screamed loudly in frustration, collapsing to the ground. He could feel the energy within was depleted and needed to refill. Though he had failed all through, his control was slightly better than before.
"Hey, system, do you have a name?" Kael asked all of a sudden, placing his hands behind his head as he stared at the swirling mist above.
[...]
"I wonder if you're an AI, you don't act like one."
[Tsk. I'm not an AI or whatever you call it. I'm something far beyond your comprehension]
"It's okay if you don't want to talk about it, not that I'm forcing you." Tsk.
[You! I'll have you know...]
"Yeah, yeah, whatever," Kael said, rolling his eyes. Sitting upright, he began filling his heart with the abyssal energy over the surroundings, leaving the system to fume silently.
Soon, he had refilled his energy and rising from the ground, he continued his journey. Along the way, he would try practising the abyssal energy and then later on switch to his space and gravity ability. During the time he carried out various tests, some of which harmed him in the process, but thanks to his abyssal regeneration, he was fixed back in no time.
"I guess theory time is over, time to test them out in battle." A few metres away from where he stood, he saw some group of beasts fighting among themselves. "The abyss is truly a chaotic place." He thought.
His form disappeared from his previous spot appearing above the beasts, which were battling furiously. With the gravity aura, he could control gravity around him, which made it possible for him to hover above.
He had reduced the gravity around him, making him slightly weightless. If one would look closely, they would instantly realise he was slowly descending but at a very low speed.
"I guess it's time to upgrade my rank." Clenching his fist, his speed slowly increased steadily as he descended towards one of the beasts locked in a fierce battle with another.
BOOOOM
The ground shattered with the head of a beast digging deep into the ground. Stretching his hand, the second beast suddenly felt a force dragging him towards Kael, who had already thrown out his clenched fist.
BOOOM
The beast was sent, hurtling backwards, crashing into another beast. "Great! That's right, you guys should be worried about your survival."
The beasts all stopped staring at the figure who had interrupted their fight. Seeing the two beasts on the ground, they roared in fury, neglecting their previous grudge, and all charged at him.
"That's the spirit," Kael said, stretching his hand out. About six beasts were heading towards him, and not once did his smile fade. 'Although I don't have much understanding yet, the little I've already grasped would be more than enough to take care of you all.'
His form disappeared from their view and appeared behind. He had already picked his next target. A large beast with dark furs and two Crimson horns on its head. Leaping high, he landed on the head of the beast and then grabbed both horns. He pulled with force ripping them off.
Blood spurted, dying the beast nearby in blood. With the sharp edge now hovering above the beast, Kael thrusts with pure force driving them deep into the eyes of the beast.
ROOOAAR
"That's another one down." Leaping from the body, he was just in time to avoid a claw, which struck the beast down, further sealing its fate.
"There's no need to get excited. You're next. You should know that." His eyes revealed a dark glint as he pulled his hand to himself. The beast, a snake-like beast with forelimbs shaped into claws, was suddenly pulled forward.
"Die!" Kael roared, swinging his hands down. Blood splattered down splashing across his face. His movements were quick and fluid, leaving no opening.
Two beasts of the same type charged forward, their hooves, causing the ground to tremble. Kael weaved through their midst, his hands spread widely and shaped into claws.
SPLATT!
The beast continued, running past him a few paces, leaving a trail of blood before collapsing to the ground.
"Hahaha!" His form once again disappeared from the view of the beasts left.
THUD~
Another beast collapsed to the ground, its head completely ripped off by the figure standing atop its body.
ROOOAR
The last beast roared, not the least bothered by its fallen comrade. It charged forward, swinging its claws widely. "You have to do more than that to land a hit," Kael said with a yawn, easily avoiding the beast attack.
"Alright, I'm bored," he said after a few clashes easily toying with the beast. Stomping the ground, he threw out his fist, matching the beast claws. The beast claws were abruptly crushed by an invisible barrier, and it was sent hurtling backwards.
"Gravity repel, huh? All the skills are truly amazing." Appearing before the beast, he easily landed a finishing strike, causing the area to become silent.
Ding!
