Chapter 1

50 years ago, six pillars of light hit Earth and terraform Earth into completely different planet. Earth's size increased ten thousand times than before. Earth seven continents gone and 20 new continents were formed. Every living thing on Earth undergoing changes including animals and plants.

Animals and plants mutated. Animals became magic beast while plants either becoming a magic beast or magic plants. There were also animals and plants that did not went any mutation.

Many humans died. The past human countries were gone and human survivors did their best to unite and formed many new countries. However, humans found out that they only occupied the smallest continents. Due to the disaster, human cannot go out of their continent because they needed to strengthen themselves first.

The magic beast was a huge threat to humans. Humans tried their best to fend the magic beast off their city but, their weapon proved to be not much effective against the magic beast. Human was on the verge of total annihilation when a human found a way to fight against the magic beast.

Apparently, human also mutated but not on the same level as animals and plants. Human brain mutated a bit that allow human to form a contract with magic beast. This power will only awaken when a human was in between 14 to 15 years old. They can use the contracted magic beast to fight for them. Everyone who formed a contact with magic was called the Contractor.

Later, humans found out there was more to the contract than they thought. Some humans can also go further with their contracted magic beast, they can borrow the contracted magic beast power to use by themselves.

There were three different methods to borrow the contracted magic beast power. The first two methods were mental synchronization and physical synchronization.

Mental synchronization synchronized the contractor and magic beast on mind level. The method had high stability and can be used for a long time but their power was reduced for a bit.

Physical synchronization synchronized the contractor and magic beast on physical level. The contractor will fuse with their magic beast and their physical appearance will change based on their contracted magic beast. This method had great power but it cannot be used for a long time as it was unstable.

The third method was called Full synchronization. The third method was the hardest to achieve but the most powerful out of the three method. It was the combination of both mental and physical synchronization. The method can only be achieved once the contractor and their magic beast understand each other at high level.

Not everyone can use the synchronization but the one who can be was called the Synchronizer. Synchronizer was far stronger than a contractor thus their standing in society was high.

There was one more type of human that was precious to society. Ability owner. Ability owner was human who gained special ability. The special ability can be any kind of thing that was impossible to be done by humans without synchronization for example like breathing fire. Once ability owner used their ability with synchronization, their strength will be much stronger than a Synchronizer. However, not all ability was offensive. Some of the ability cannot even be used in battle.

Zane will become a high schooler in a few weeks. Zane was currently patiently waiting for his power to awaken. Most of his friends already awaken their powers and started contracting magic beast. Zane's friends all aiming to become a synchronizer and fought to protect their city and their country against the magic beast but not Zane.

Zane wanted to live his life peacefully with his contracted magic beast. He wanted to find a normal job and live a normal life. He wanted to contract with magic beast because he wanted them as his pet. He did not want to get into fights or anything that involved fighting.

Zane cannot wait to awaken as he already had a magic beast he wanted to contract. The magic beast that he wanted was a tamed, cute and fluffy magic beast. This magic beast was popular among girls due to its cuteness and fluffiness. It was also the first choice among people who want a magic beast pet. The magic beast than Zane wanted was called the Cotton Sheep.

The cotton sheep had the same size as normal sheep but their fur was smooth and fluffy. Looking from the back of the cotton sheep, it looked like a cotton ball. The cotton sheep's leg was hidden by their fur and only their head was visible.

The cotton sheep was the most normal magic beast. It did not look like a magic beast at all. Cotton sheep meat also taste good and as such it was also treated as a livestock. Just like normal sheep, their fur was used in many things and it grew back faster than normal sheep.

Zane's family was an average family. Zane did not have any siblings and he lived with his mom. He did not know who his father was and his mother also never once mentioned about his father. Because Zane love peace the most, he did not ask about his dad even once. He did not want to ruin the peace life he had and he had a feeling that the topic about his father was a taboo.

It was December and it will be spring in a few weeks. After Earth changed, many other things changed. Human found out that every season went longer than usual but then they found out that a day in a year had increased.

A month now had 35 days and the four seasons happened all around the world without any exceptions. The four seasons will happen at the exact time and stopped at the exact time. Spring will happen from January to March, Summer from April to June, Fall from July to September and Winter from October to December.

Zane was inside his room reading comics. There was nothing else he can do besides surfing the internet or reading comics. He already prepared everything for his first day in high school. So, he just lazed around on his bed reading comics.

He wanted to hang out with his friends but they were all busy with their contracted magic beast. Zane was a bit jealous but there was nothing he can do. He will wait until he awakened and his situation will be the same as his friends.

While Zane lazed around on his bed, his body suddenly glowed. He was on his way to awaken his power. Seeing that his power awakened, Zane was super happy. He waited until the light dimmed before he checked his stats.

However, before he started checking, a virtual screen floating in front of him installing something. Zane was in a dazed when he saw what happened. It did not take long, about 15 seconds and it finished installing.

'Congratulations. User obtained the farm system, the ranch system, the mine system, the storage, formula system and the processing system' appeared in the screen in front of Zane.

"What is this??" said Zane. Zane quickly checked his stats

Zane looked at his stats and his mouth wide opened. "I am an ability owner?" said Zane and he went silent for a bit. Zane seemed to be thinking of something, "This is not good if other people find out about this. I will lose my peaceful life and people all around the country will try to recruit me."

"Let's keep this a secret to everyone including mom.," said Zane. Zane then used the ability he got. He looked through it and easily understand it.

"Hmm~ the system is good and I got it at its best ability. The farm, ranch and mine are basically for me to grow plants, animals, magic beast and minerals easily. I just need to get the things I want to grow and put it in the system and the system will grow them without much problem. Whatever I grow inside the system will grow faster than outside the system. There is no limit at how many things I want to grow but there was a limit at how much I can grow at a time."

"The storage is basically a storage. It looks the same as the storage from games. Unlimited slots and unlimited amount."

"The formula system can automatically create formula that I want. It can create formula to strengthen my contracted magic beast, formula to mutate my magic beast, formula to create medicine and many more."

"The processing system is for me to create what I want with the right formula as long as I have enough materials."

Zane was looking at his ability. He was not smiling and said, "So… this is a cheat ability. This ability is too over power and too good. Sigh~ I really cannot tell anyone about this." Zane showed a worried face.

Zane wanted to test if people can see the screen that he saw and he stood in front of a mirror. The mirror did not reflect the screen and he felt relief a bit. He went out of his house and walked to a convenience store while activating his ability. He passed through many people and he confirmed that they did not see it.

"The system works the same way as the stats screen. Only the user can see their own stats. Unless other people obtain the appraisal ability, it is impossible for them to see my ability," said Zane. He did not worry about people with appraisal ability as there was only one person in the world that was known to own the ability.

Zane walked out of the convenience store. Its currently winter and snow were piling up at the side of the road. Zane went out with his saving in his hands. He wanted to contract a cotton sheep as fast as possible. So, instead of going home, Zane went to a magic beast shop nearby.

But he stopped at an electronic store first to buy the commlink bracelet. The commlink can only be used by people who awakened. It was designed specifically to use by contractor. It has the bank function to keep money safe, the communication function (call, text messages, MMS), internet, virtual world function and summoning function.

Virtual world was a place that contractor can visit to buy and sell materials they found when they went to explore outside the city. After Earth change, there was so many places in the world that had yet to be explored by human.

The continent that was currently populated by human was still not fully explored by humans. Only 30% of the continent managed to be explored by humans. The outside world was too dangerous and human was still not strong enough yet to explore more places.

Once Zane finished buying the commlink, he went straight to a magic beast shop. Zane can actually use the virtual world to buy a magic beast but Zane preferred to see the magic beast by himself. He wanted to get the best cotton sheep he can find as it pertained his peaceful life.

Zane was inside the shop and many people were inside too. Although it was called a shop, it was actually a huge ranch. Magic beast sold in a shop was not wild magic beast but a carefully breed magic beast.

Since cotton sheep was bred also for its meat, there were many magic beast breeders bred the cotton sheep. It was the most common magic beast that can be found in the market.

The shop employee showed Zane the way to the cotton sheep ranch so Zane can choose the cotton sheep he wanted. Zane arrived at the cotton sheep ranch and saw many cotton balls on the field. Zane's lip curled into a big smile.

"This feels like a fluffy heaven~"
