It suddenly made Adeline wonder what it would be like to have a family with Caesar. What would kids with him be like? A smile prickled at her lips at the thought of it, and she pulled a chair out for herself to sit down, however, her hand was snatched by Caesar, who'd hurried up to her.
"Sit next to me," he said, and he didn't even give her a chance to respond before pulling her along with him to the head chair at the table.
Adeline watched him settle down and pat the chair next to him.
"Caesar, I'd like to sit-"
"You'd prefer to sit over there than next to me?" the man asked, his voice low as if he were hurt.
And Adeline slapped a palm over her forehead. "Not at all," she said, taking a seat down with a smile.
A soft breath of relief fled from Caesar, and he folded his arms, fixing his gaze on her. Adeline darted her eyes around, wondering why he was peering so intently at her. Wasn't he going to eat?
