So It Goes

After what happened in the living room, Selena decided to visit Alejandro alone. She took the first taxi she saw in the street. 

After getting out of the taxi, Selena entered the hospital. She went straight to the receptionist and asked for Alejandro. 

'Can you tell me if Doctor Dane is busy?' she asked, putting both arms on the reception counter. 

The place was cold, shivering her naked arms. She was wearing a sleeveless dress, an outfit perfect for a hot place yet the moment she entered the hospital, her skin started to shiver. 

'Mr. Dane is in the operating room right now. Are you a patient?' the receptionist asked. 

Selena shook her head, her lips curved a smile as she said, 'No, I am his girlfriend.' 

She could see the shock on the receptionist face, but soon her face wrinkled. 

'I am sorry Miss but Doctor Dane's mother is with his fiancée right now, in her office. Please leave the hospital premises before I call the security.' 

Those words came to her as a shock, her lips parted as her feet moved backwards. 

She took in a long sigh, her hands started to tremble as she took the phone out of her purse. 

She unlocked her phone with her heart pounding uncontrollably, she had never felt so tense as she was right now. She felt as if a rock was in her throat, making it hard for her to breath and swallow. 

Her fingers scrolled on her contacts, with her lips quivering with emotion, she pressed the call button. 

Soon, a man answered the phone and with a broken voice she spoke.  

'Barney. Could you – pick me up?'  

She hangs up her phone, her feet were weak but, she was able to find her way out of the hospital.

In the operating room. 

Alejandro had just finished his operation when a nurse told him that his mother wanted to see him. He removed his gloves and proceeded to her office. 

As he entered, a familiar woman scent entered his nose. And immediately, his eyebrows creased. 

Seeing his mother talking lively with Tiffany has made his mood ruined. He was in rushed today so he could surprise Selena after two weeks of not seeing her but then, his ex-fiancée suddenly popped in the hospital. 

'Alejandro, you are here,' his mother said cheerfully. 

Alejandro shook his head and took a step back before his mother could embrace him. 

'Mom, why is she here?' he said pointing at Tiffany. 

'Oh! Come on honey. She's here to visit me but, you might want to stop by at the reception area later. I accidentally said that she's your fiancée,' then his mother giggled. 

Alejandro shut his eyes, without saying his greetings to Tiffany he left his mother's office. 

He still has patience but, his mind was urging him to visit Selena. 

With that thought, he rushed to his office. As he picked up his phone, he found all of her miscalled and messages. 

His heart pounded and immediately dialed her number but, it was out of coverage which he finds strange as it always on every time he calls her. 

His assistant came to inform him that another patient is here for a checkup, Alejandro sighed and put his phone down on the table. 

Seeing a boy with his mother entering his office, Alejandro sat on his chair. 

His assistant was about to leave when she told him, 'There was a woman in the lobby earlier. She said she was your girlfriend but, they throw her out.' 

His hand frost from picking up the stethoscope, heart which had settled down pounded again. 

The missed calls, messages and her phone which was out of coverage area, everything suddenly makes sense to him. 

Without saying a word, his body rushed out of the room. He didn't walk, he ran as if he was being chased by someone. 

Heart pulsating uncontrollably, his mind started to picture Selena and what she must be feeling right now. 

As his feet ran, his hand keeps on dialing her number. 

He stopped in the basement, in front of his car, he was out of breath, mind was in dazed. 

He unlocked his car, as he was about to get in, he heard a voice from behind. 

'Oh, my little brother! what's the rush?' there was a smirk of disgust on Killian's face but Alejandro ignored it. 

'Where is Selena?' he asked. 

Confusion filled Killian's eyes, he walked closer to Alejandro and stopped in front of him. 

'What do you mean where is Selena? She refused to ride with me and took a taxi here. 

'Yes, she was here but, she was thrown out after telling the receptionist that she's my girlfriend.' 

Killian's' head tilted with confusion, 'That doesn't make sense.' 

Alejandro swallowed hard, as he put the phone on his ear, he said, 'It is when mom is here with Tiffany.' 

At that moment, Killian's sudden laugh echoed in the quiet basement, amusement was shining in his eyes. 

'And I thought I will need to put so much effort on stealing her. I actually just need to stand and watch. Oh, derie me! Well, I guess I should just wait until Selena gives up on you.'  

Hearing those words, Alejandro pumped a fist on Killian's cheek, making him to fall to the ground. 

Killian wiped the side of his lip with his knuckles, eyes shimmering with disgust and disappointment were staring at Alejandro. 

He got up; bitterness was aching inside of him. 

'I will get her Alejandro. I will get her,' saying that, he turned his back. 

'Why Killian? Why would you take her from me? Can't you just leave her?' hands on his side were clenching with anger. 

He wondered why, since childhood, they have been closed. Killian is his older brother, he always gives him all he wanted, pampered him more than he deserves but after finding out that he was a bastard, Killian started to act strangely towards him. He was cold, and always talked to him like a low person. 

'Why? You bastard! you asked me why?' saying that with anger, Killian placed a hand on his shoulder - pushing him backwards. 

After Alejandro felt the impact of bumping his on the car door, he looked straight at his brother. 

'Yes, Killian why? Is it because I am a bastard?' his voice was deep as a well and full of pain, lips were shaking as he stared at his brother's fists in the air. 

'Are you really going to deny it? Huh? Do you think I still don't know what you have done? You are my brother Alejandro. Why did you do that?" as he yelled those words with anguish, his fists dropped on his cheek. 

Blood flowed from Alejandro's nose and on the side of his lips, but seeing the blood didn't change the anger in Killian's eyes. 

Killian took a step back, fists still clenching with anger. 

'That was my baby but, you bastards killed him. So yeah, I will take her away.' 

Alejandro blinked; body has turned statue as he accepted all of the punch Killian was throwing on his face. 

When Killian was done punching him. Alejandro's face was painted with blood. 

'So, she was just a part of your plan huh? A pawn? You don't care if she will gets hurt as long as you can take your revenge on me,' Alejandro scoffed to mask the pain on his face. He wiped the blood on his mouth as he tried to remove the guilt in his heart. 

'She was never part of my plan until I met her at the airport,' Killian shook his head. 

'And she's not a pawn Alejandro. She's my price and watch me as I take her away from you.'
