Chapter 79: Lancelot and Galahad

Jay was chilling in the lounge with Louis next to him. They were watching the last battle of the whole competition. The remaining two teams that were fighting all had higher points than Corinth, so it didn't really matter who won or not. They had 28 points, the two teams that were fighting both had more than 30.

On the battle grounds, the knights of Carleon were battling fiercely against the elves. Lancelot, the leader of the teenage knights was wielding a glistening blade. "Sequence," roared Lancelot, as his sword emitted a similar aura as Arthur's Excalibur. Two dark elves attacked Lancelot, riding on two black drakes. The drakes were powerful beings, both being Colonel-graded lesser dragons. Dragons were one of the most powerful types of monsters, even a lesser dragon could fight beings that were one level higher than itself. The two drakes could probably take down a General-Graded beast.

"Galahad! Take the right one," Lancelot ordered. Lancelot and Galahad were the two young prodigies of Carleon. A golden glow blinded the audience. A floating stone appeared in front of Galahad, with a saber that had a bright red hilt embedded deep inside the stone. Grabbing the hilt, Galahad easily pulled out the saber, leaping at the right drake. The dark elves on top of the drakes each casted different spells to try and stop the two knights. Dark butterflies flew at the two knights, containing corrosive dark mana. Lancelot slashed each of the butterflies with attacks so fast that even Arthur's eyes couldn't keep up. Galahad just straight up tanked the spell. Being known as the Pure Knight, these tier three dark spells had no chance of hurting him. The dark butterflies just turned into sparkles as they came into contact with Galahad.

Seeing the puny humans dare to challenge their might, the drakes were not happy at all. With powerful jaws, they munched down on the two knights. "Secace!" shouted Lancelot, as his sword shapeshifted into a much larger form. Grabbing the now two-handed sword, Lancelot swung at the drake's powerful jaws. The drake didn't want to back down, deciding to crunch both the large sword and the small human in one single bite. When the drake chomped down, he was instantly met with pain. Saliva sprayed all over Lancelot as he teared right through the drake's gums. Two large fangs fell to the ground, blood still dripping from the drake's mouth.

The other drake shared a similar fate. Unlike Lancelot, Galahad decided to stab upwards, puncturing the drake's jaw. He then pulled the sword towards himself, almost splintering the poor drake's mandible in half. The drakes roared in pain, their pride of a dragon not admitting defeat. They're powerful tails lashed out, aiming at the two knights with incredible speed. Lancelot smirked, preparing to slash the tail in half. But just before he could brandish his sword, he felt something pierce through the air, coming straight at him. "Sequence!" he shouted, his sword shape-shifting into a light one-handed sword.

Without even looking, he stabbed his sword towards what the audience thought was just air. "He missed?" wondered Arthur out loud. The drake's tail slammed right into Lancelot's chain mail, sending him skidding across the sandy floor. "No," said Connor, pointing at two holes I the ground right next to Lancelot. "An elf silently shot an arrow at his head, he somehow managed to directly split the arrow in half," Connor said. As an archer and hunter, he fully understood how deadly that shot was. He was pretty certain that a combo like that would definitely severely damage Arthur, perhaps even killing him. The way that the arrow flew in a completely straight line meant that the projectile was definitely empowered with a fair bit of mana. The precision that was needed to predict such a swift shot and to cut it in half was insane, not to mention that there was also a drake simultaneously attack him. In the few seconds, Lancelot managed to not only notice the arrow, but also analyze the situation, deeming that the arrow would deal significantly more damage than the drake's tail.

Galahad also received the same combo, with the sneaky arrow aimed at his blind spot. However, he didn't seem to care. He still continued on with his attacks, completely ignoring the mana enhanced projectile that was coming his way. "Watch out!" screamed Arthur in his heart, holding his breath. Just before the tail and arrow could reach Galahad, a glistening white armor covered his body. The arrow was easily deflected by the white armor, and the tail was cleany lopped off the drake. Viscous dark blood oozed out from the section, sizzling as it dripped on the ground.

Lancelot stood back up, patting the dust of his armor. Looking at Galahad, who was easily overpowering the drake, Lancelot took a deep breath. He rushed towards the drake, this time dodging the sneaky arrows that were aimed for his head, feet, and heart. He leaped upwards, dodging the drake's powerful tail. Midair, he yelled loudly, "Sequence!" The small sword in his hand instantly became a large sword. He slashed down, aiming straight at the drake's neck. The dark elf that was riding on top of the drake saw that this was a good chance to attack. She launched multiple spells, fireballs, lightning, and dark butterflies. Lancelot rotated his sword, using it to shield the incoming attacks.

Lancelot shot down like a meteor, brandishing his sword just as he was going to fall to the ground. The drake's tail lashed out, trying to sweep the human away. But just before the tail slammed into Lancelot, he twisted his hips. Swinging his two-handed sword like a baseball bat, he chopped off the drake's tail.

Because drakes were large lesser dragons without wings, the needed their powerful tails to help balance their large masses if they wanted to make sharp turns. Without their tails, the drakes were like two drunkards fighting. They stumbled around, losing their balance. Lancelot and Galahad ran under the large reptiles, hacking away at their tough hides. The two holy swords that they wield were the perfect tool for the job, still keeping a perfect edge even after tearing through the scaly skin. With a swift slice, Lancelot managed to slit open the heel of the drake's hind leg. The drake lost balance, toppling over. The other three knights were keeping the other elves busy, and Galahad and Lancelot were doing swift work on the two monsters.

Suddenly, Lancelot noticed a red smoke rise behind the audience stand. Red smoke meant that they needed to surrender. Although Lancelot wanted to win, as a knight, he couldn't and shouldn't disobey direct orders. In a loud voice, he shouted, "We forfeit." The spectators were puzzled, the knights clearly had the upper hand. Were they afraid of a hidden trump card? Leading the knights out of the arena, Lancelot brought them to their lounge. Uther Pendragon, the King of Knights was sitting there, waiting for their arrival. The five knights knelt down on one knee, awaiting their king's orders. They weren't really satisfied with the surrender, but orders were orders.

"The surrender was necessary. The Holy Grail would cause war to break out," Uther said, holding a crystal ball. The crystal ball showed several different armies, all surrounding their borders. "What is the meaning of this?" whispered Lancelot, looking at the large armies. "They are all here for the Holy Grail. A recent prophecy said that the Holy Grail would provide protection against Ragnarok," Uther Pendragon explained, sighing. Their national treasure brought disaster to their country, so he had to make the hard decision to give it away.
