Chapter 50: Wargs are Really Not Welcomed

"Why?" whined the warg, as it unwilling carried Jay on its back. "Shut up and walk," said Jay, not joining the warg's slapstick. While Jay was walking down the streets, he felt everyone glaring at him. He felt that it was a bit weird, but decided to dismiss the thought. "You are wondering why people are staring at you right?" asked the warg. "Nope," replied Jay, keeping his expressions calm. "I'm a demonic and malevolent wolf, of course they'll have some thoughts. Wargs are known to hunt and murder humans for fun," it laughed.

To the people that were walking near Jay, the wolf's words all sounded like howls and barks, making them cower in fear. Seeing the pedestrians shaking, Jay knew that the warg was telling the truth. "Hurry up," Jay said, not wanting to get into any trouble. As the warg rushed down the streets, the yales and horses pulling the carts all trembled in fear, even knocking some more timid horses out just by its mere presence. Ignoring the swear words that were constantly thrown at him, Jay just wanted to get out of the city as fast as he can. Arriving at the gates, the guards tried to stopped him. But the warg didn't slow down in the slightest bit, turning both itself and Jay into a shadow, it ran straight through the gates. Rushing down the dirt road, it ran faster than the guards' shouts.

Phasing out of the shadow, Jay almost suffocated to death. Taking a deep breath, the dizziness caused by lack of oxygen started to slowly fade away. "What was that for?" asked Jay, catching his breath. "That was interesting, it seems like the shadow phase is void of all matter, even air. Traveling through people and walls should be possible," Malum said to both the warg and Jay telepathically. "Traveling through most stuff is easy, but when fighting powerful mages that are proficient in holy or dark magic, Shadow Sneak is not a good idea," replied the Warg. "Appraisal," casted Jay, intrigued by the spell.

[Skill: Shadow Sneak

Description:

Allows the caster to temporarily phase oneself into the shadow realm, skilled casters can even phase others. While in the shadow realm, physical attacks are all rendered useless. The caster can freely travel through the shadow realm, but is unable to interact with the real world before phasing out. Can not phase out while traveling through solid objects. While in the shadow realm, can be hurt by light magic or dark magic. Takes double damage during the process of both traveling through the realm or phasing.]

"That is quite cool," said Jay, imagining the things he could do if he obtained the skill. Thinking of that, he tried something.

"Beast Contract," casted Jay.

[Warg gained skill: Shapeshift]

[Fen gained skill: Shadow Sneak]

Feeling power surge through itself, the warg stopped and turned its snout around. "What did you do?" it asked, surprised. "I tried to bound you to a Beast Contract, but it failed. It then automatically added you to the pack of my alpha werewolf," truthfully replied Jay. "An alpha werewolf?" replied the warg in a shocked tone. "Anything wrong with that?" asked Jay, surprised by the warg's tone. "An alpha werewolf! It basically is the powered down version of the Contracter. Gaining power by recruiting more and more subordinates while simultaneously strengthening them. Do you understand how powerful that can be?" the warg exclaimed.

"The professor that teaches us bestiary didn't make such a fuss when she was introduced to it," replied Jay. "Of course she doesn't! I bet that she is a beast summoner, only understanding a small part of us beasts, wasting our true potentials. Always summoning those so called "tamed" beasts that are nothing more than a meat puppet," the warg spat in disgust, clearly recalling the scenes of the beasts slowly losing their sentiment. Feeling the warg's rage, Jay laughed. "Why are you laughing? Is the suffering of beasts so funny to the mighty Contracter?" barked the warg. "Nope, I'm just laughing because you were lying," said Jay, holding back tears of laughter. "What did I lie about?" asked a furious warg. "That all wargs are evil and malevolent beings," replied Jay, suddenly turning serious.

"Is that what you wish for?" he asked. Looking at the warg's puzzled look, Jay rephrased his question. "Do you wish for an oasis where all beasts are free, where no one is looked down upon, where beasts are not misunderstood and mistreated? Do you wish for an empire where we reign supreme?" asked Jay in a serious tone. Shocked by Jay's sudden change of demeanor, the warg replied softly, "Yes. Yes I do." "Then you should join me on my venture, we shall crush anyone who dares to stop us. We will build an empire where we will not be bullied. I will grant you your wish," replied Jay. Although the words sounded absurd coming out of a teenager, the determination behind the words clearly indicated that Jay was serious.

"Why?" asked the warg, curious about Jay's original motive. "It's a long story," replied Jay, staring into the distance. "We still have a couple of hours before we reach the next town," replied the warg, as it quickened its pace down the dirt path. Jay began to describe all the events that happened after he was transported to this world, putting much emphasis on the battle with the demon. Even just hearing the story made the warg's blood boil, it didn't regret following Jay anymore after feeling how much he cared about his tames. "We should see the next village in no time," transmitted Malum, who was acting as an guide. "Stop," Malum suddenly said. "Why?" asked the warg, still maintaining its speed. "Listen to him," said Jay, senses sharpened. Although still not understanding why they needed to stop, the warg still paused.

"How many?" asked Jay. "About twenty," replied Malum. Finally understanding the situation, the warg said, "Should we go help?" "If we rush in, we might be seen as enemies," said Jay. He was riding an evil looking wolf, and he himself was wearing a large cloak, covering his skeletal arm. "What if I shapeshift?" asked the warg. "That could work," replied Jay, brain running at max speeds. Jumping off the warg, Jay asked Malum if he could make him a mask. "Why?" asked Malum, puzzled. "I don't want to expose myself as the Contracter, wearing the mask I could cast more abilities freely," Jay said. "If that is what you wish for," replied Malum, creating a wooden mask with nature magic. The mask was just a plank of wood that had two holes for his eyes that fitted Jay's face perfectly. The warg activated Shapeshift, slowly turning into a human.

As it finished transforming, Jay and Malum were shocked. "You are not a male?" exclaimed Jay. The warg turned into a beautiful woman, long black hair with a seductive look, and a slim but curvy body. The warg's pelt shapeshifted into a black gown that highlights her alluring body, with a black shawl covering half of her upper body. "When did I ever said that I was a male," said the warg, confused. "Maybe it's just that I've never had a female beast before," said Jay, stunned by the warg's beauty. "How do I look?" asked the warg, being her first transformation, she had no idea how she looked. "Very pretty, but you'll have to cover up your face or you'll end up with all the hearts of young men," said Jay, staring at the wargs beautiful face. "The battle is still going on you know?" said Malum, interrupting the two. "Let's go," said Jay, as he put on his mask.

After a while, they could see the villiage, where they saw the battle happening. A gang of goblins were slowly pushing forwards, slowly breaking the villagers defense. The men were all fighting fiercely to protect their wives and children, who were hiding in the village that they were protecting. Walking forwards slowly, the shawl on her shoulders slowly shapeshifted into a thin veil that covered her face. "Time to test out this form," said the warg, as she conjured some mana in her hand. "Dark Domain," she casted, as darkness covered both the men and goblins. "Let try some things," she said, as she smiled devilishly.
