Mole

[Note: Guys, so I was thinking, should I add my thoughts on the chapters as well at the end of each chapter. Because I'm noticing that some of you guys are getting frustrated with Damian's passiveness. It's like when Daryl Dixon was introduced, he wasn't that popular but as the story moves on, he started rising up due to his skills. I was thinking of the same thing for Damian, so, it doesn't look that unnatural.]

A week passed by and it was Tuesday. After some cardio and workout, Damian washed himself and came out of his house and walked towards Nathan's. Few days earlier, Nathan suddenly fell unconscious out of nowhere. Damian asked Kayla about it and she said that it might be because of the pills Steve gave him. Steve apologized to Nathan's family and put blame on the guys who brought the medicines back. This put the people in another confusion as someone might have deliberately switched the pills. Although, direct suspicion was on Cleveland, but there might be someone else trying to frame him as he was one of the two doctors we had. Other person to be suspected according to Damian was Matt as many people saw him arguing with his father on many occasions over the past month, but he kept this to himself.

"I'm telling you, Matt, it's not me who made the mistake. I just give over the pills that are already in the mini bottles. I never thought that there would be a need to check the medicines first. That there would be wrong medicines in one of the bottles", He tried to put his point.

"We don't know that", Matt said.

"We don't know anything", Nathan who was lying on his bed, weak, said. "Leave it. What's done is done. Make sure this doesn't happen anymore", he told Cleveland and he nodded. "Now, I want everyone to leave except Damian", he looked at Damian, "You stay. I need to talk to you about something", he said.

People emptied the room leaving only Nathaniel and Damian. "Come sit", Nathan said.

"I don't understand. You were as fit as everyone a month ago. How did your health deteriorate so quickly?", Damian asked.

"That's what I wondered too, before I fell unconscious", Nathan pause and continued. "They are coming Damian. I can feel it. I should have listened to you back then and did what you said. I was just afraid for my son's life", Nathan said.

"No. What you did was not wrong", Damian said.

"Yet we can still feel the enemy amongst us even now. And we don't know who he is", Nathan said.

"It could also be a she. or they", Damian said.

"You're right. Everyone is in danger here until we find out who they are. Except for my children, I only trust you. Matt is too immature to handle this and Libbi, you know her, I can't tell her. So, I can only ask you", he said.

Seeing his trust in him, Damian accepted the responsibility. "I will find out, sir", he said. Soon, he left the room as Nathan kept a smile on his face.

The whole day, Damian accompanied by Christian, asked around about people, trying to figure out if someone had been acting strange. Or if there are two different opinions about the same person. As they met people, they figured out that everyone saw others in different light. For some, Matt was a good son, who was trying his best to fill his father's shoes while for some, he was not fit to lead after his father. For some people, Nathan is a good leader and they felt grateful to him for letting them in his farm but for others, they thought that Nathan was too soft and wasn't making good decision. Some even put forward other people for leadership as they were doing good work. All in all, everyone had different opinions on others. Except for one person. Dr. Steve Cleveland. Even though people were accusing of mismanagement that morning, overall, everyone said that he was good and important in the farm.

Damian had some doubts about it, although it was possible that the doctor could actually have a good reputation. Damian went to talk to Kayla about the Doctor and found him even more fishy as no one, not even Kayla who worked this whole time with him knew about his past life or what he did before he came to the farm. She said he just told her that he was lucky to have come to this place. 

Damian now had a true suspect and he was going to know everything about the man in question.

Damian and Christian were walking towards the infirmary where they expected to see Dr. Cleveland. 

"Doctor, are you inside?", Christian asked before entering but Damian just entered without an answer.

Inside, Steve Cleveland was looking at some papers in his room. Looking at Damian coming inside, he put on a smile, "Damian. I thought you'd come sooner". 

"What?", Damian asked with confusion.

"Oh. Sorry. Mrs. Myers told me that you were questioning people. So, I expected you to come here", he said amusingly. 

"Mrs. Myers", Damian remembered, and asked again, "Do you have some time? We have some questions for you", Damian then looked at Christian who was not there. Damian asked a moment and went out. He stared at Christian for a moment before gesturing him to come inside. 

"But he didn't say come in. That's not good manners", Christian said but entered anyway.

They sat on the chairs and started questioning the doctor. Slowly and steadily, from his life in the farm, they moved on to his past.

"Steve, did you have a family before this?", Damian asked.

"I was married once. It didn't work out", he answered.

"Where did you work?", Damian asked.

"Well, it was a hospital, of course", he said laughing, but seeing Damian's serious face, he added, "Louisiana South Hospital. I was a surgeon there".

"How did you come here", Damian asked.

"I was on a trip with my brother and his son. We were travelling back when all hell went loose and I got here", he said.

Hearing this, Damian felt a little apologetic for asking about it, "Oh, I'm sorry".

The questioning went on as Damian started asking about the incident that happened few months ago. He asked if Steve talked to Allan and knew something about him and in the end they asked him about the wrong medicine incident.

Steve answered all the questions calmly and made sure that the duo were satisfied. 

"Thank you for giving us your time, doctor", Christian said as Damian was leaving without saying goodbye.

"Yes. Take care", Dr. said while waving at them.

While walking on the unpaved road, Damian said, "I don't know why but there is this thing in the side of my brain that tells me not to trust Steve", he said.

"I don't know. Dude felt legit to me. Although he smiles excessively", Christian said.

Damian smiled at the comment and saw Elizabeth talking with a girl. He then remembered Christian asking him about her. So, he thought of repaying him.

But before he could wave and say hello to her, she waved at him and paced to his direction, followed by the other girl. "Hey", she said and Damian was about to wave back when he suddenly heard someone responding to her. 

"Yo. What're you guys up to?", Christian asked. The familiarity between them made him feel a bit strange.

Damian looked at them and asked, "You guys know each other?".

"Yes. She's Elizabeth. You know her, right?", Christian asked Damian who looked at him strangely.

"And that's my sister, Lily", he added. Only then did Damian figured out how he knew her.

"Where are you guys coming from?", his sister, Lily asked.

Christian became serious and talked like a detective, "We were just questioning Dr. Steve. We found out about him. I bet we know more about him than anyone in this farm now. Right officer Wolfe?", he said. Damian looked at him strangely but noticed Libby laughing at his antiques.

"Okay, so tell me this without his help", Lily asked, "where did he work earlier?".

Christian became quiet for a moment before saying, "Oh. I know it but does Officer Wolfe know?", he then looked at Damian, asking for help.

"I think he said he was a surgeon in Louisiana South Hospital", Damian answered.

"Hmm... right. See, he knows it too", Christian said.

But instead of punching him on the face, Lily said, "Isn't that the hospital which came under scrutiny because someone was organ trafficking in that hospital. I remember it clearly. They said there was a whole racket and the ringleader was a surgeon who did all this with his brother who had connections in the black market but they escaped under their noses".

Damian was flabbergasted listening to her. "How do you know all this?", he asked her.

"Well, I was an aspiring journalist and this was quite the talk among my circle for some time", she said.

"Do you know who was the person running that illegal trafficking?", he asked.

"Well, I don't remember correctly but his brother's name was something like Robert England or Greenland or-", she said.

"-Cleveland?", Christian said as he looked at Damian who also looked at him and they thanked Lily before running back to the infirmary.

Inside, they saw him sitting in leisure while swirling around on the chair. Opening his eyes, he saw Damian and Christian looking at him.

Seeing them out of breath, he asked, "Did you guys forget something?". 

"Yeah. Dr. we forgot to ask. What is your brother's name?", Christian asked.

"Why?", Dr. asked.

"Just tell us", Damian said as he already looked at him with suspicion.

Steve sat seriously for the first time before putting on a smile and suddenly pulled out a gun from under the table and pointed at Christian. 

"Holy shit. oh shit, shit, shit, shit", Christian closed his eyes in fear and repeatedly spouting slurs.

On the other hand, Steve saw Damian also aiming his gun at him. "You think you can run away from here?", Damian asked.

Steve looked at him with a smile and dropped his gun on the table. "I guess, my cover is blown, huh?", he said as he put his hands up in the air and Damian instructed Christian to tie him up.

[Thoughts: Guys, In this chapter, we see that our guy Damian is given a job to find out the person who might be sabotaging the farm. We all know who it is, but Damian uses Christian who knows almost everyone in the farm for questioning. I am thinking of keeping Christian's character for further chapters. It's going to get crazy in further chapters. The doctor got caught so simply without resisting because he wants to live.

I have few questions for you guys. I want your opinions:

1. Should I introduce a variant in the walking dead.

2. I am thinking of bringing Jenner back. Should I? I have a great villian arc set for him btw.

3. Who should Damian end up with in the end?

a) Maggie Greene (after you know who dies)

b) Kayla Miller ( accessible 24x7 to Damian, for now)

c) Camilla Woods (his school-time girlfriend and fiance, before he was declared dead)

d) Olivia Wilde (will find her some time later)

e) Claire (may come back in season 6)

f) Beth Greene (but 10 years later)
