Power comes to a price

The first thing that I did once i came here was searching for the Ancient One whereabout, but unlike Dottor Strange no one came to meet me to lead me to Kamar-Taj, is that I am unlucky or is that I don't have a plot armor? I don't know...

Either way it will be more complex to find them than what I have anticipated.

I spent some days searching through all the city and used all the money I had to buy informations and to rent a good place, it will be a safe base for the time being, I can't go to a normal hotel, I have something too valuable with me.

I am close to Kamar-Taj I know it, but I know too that if the sorcerers doesn't want to be found it will be impossible for me to find them, but I didn't lost hope and endured.

---third Person POV---

"Where is him?"

"he is in the market asking some questions, he is searching for a place named Kamar-Taj.."

"Never heard of it, but it makes no difference, tonight we will end him, our client offered a bonus if we can recuperate the case with a red vial in it, let's follow him"

Arthur didn't know, but Killian had put a tracker on him a long time ago, when the previous Arthur started working on the [Extremis] project, it was a safekeep and every one involved has one, obviously without them knowing.

When Arthur disappeared, Killian started suspecting something, he was able to recreate Arthur's movements and realized what he did.

He couldn't let him go, not with a sample of the virus, so he hired specialists to do the job.

That night the assassins raided Arthur safe house, Arthur had no choice but to run in the safe room when he noticed that something was amiss, but he knew.. be was only buying time.

--- back to the present---

Inside the room Arthur was going through great pain, he was feeling like every muscle and fibre in his body was set ablaze, from the outside his heart and blood vessels were visible with an orange glow.

" What the hell is he doing in there??"- one of the assassins was visible confused.

Obviously Arthur was screaming...the men outside the room that were trying to open the door could hear him, they exchanged a questioning look, but continued with their work notheless...only one of them, maybe the most sensible one, got a really bad foreboding with cold sweat on his back.

"make haste our boss doesn't like to wait"

--- MC POV---

I don't know how much time has passed but finally I stopped screaming, I can feel the power inside me, it is chaotic in nature, heat and some flames are coming out of me, these flames are resisting my will.

It took me sometime but in the end I was able to control it partly.

'Well that was something..."

traumatic to say the least.

calming my mind and body I look at the door, they are still cutting the lock, they are almost in..i didn't waited for the door to be opened by them but instead i charged towards it..

" WOOOOH!! "... *BOOM*

the door lock that was already weakened with my body slam broke down, the thugs were taken by surprise...the first one to fall was the one that was operating the flame torch, he was sent flying through the room, the second one wasn't fast enough to take out his pistol, i grabbed his neck with one hand and raised him from the ground.

The last two man readied their gun and opened fire, instinctively i used the man in my grip as a meat shield..i could feel the life leaving him when the bullet collided with his body...i was disgusted and threw him on the remaining men.

They weren't fast enough to avoid the body, they fell badly on the ground and stopped moving.

"mpf...that hurt!" I was the only one left standing...a bullet found his way to my shoulder but the pain lasted only for a moment...

"Amazing.." I couldn't help to say it, the wound was closing right in front of me and the bullet was already liquefied and was flowing out my body.

'this is wonderful! I feel so powerful, it is easy to be addicted to it... I can understand why Aldrich is so fond of this power...well, I am lucky to be alive as the possibility to blow up was pretty high...' the relief feeling was soon to die, he started paying attention to the bodies in front of him, blood was everywhere on the floor, on the walls and finally it was on his body, the stench of burned meat was in the air, this was the first time i had ever taken a life...i feel sick.

The only thing i wanted to do was to going out of here and take some fresh air, but I can't...not yet.

I went to one of the assassins, the only one that was still breathing..

"you...monster!" he cursed while spouting blood.

His word fell heavy on me, I knew that I need to become something more than human, it is the only way for a normal guy like me to survive this universe...i am someone that know what is coming and knowledge sometime is a curse, I can't stop...not now... not ever.

"Speak!!...i know that Aldrich Killian sent you here, how were you able to find me and how were you to communicate that the mission was successful? don't try to lie to me, I can tell when you lie" I was bluffing, but there his no way for him to know that right?, my eyes were still glowing in orange due to [Extremis]...

It was successful I can tell from the panic in his eye.

"... O..ok, I'll tell you, but please spare my life..."

"you have my word..."

The process was more complex than I anticipated, they were well organized, but thanks to that I was able to gain a little extra.. the data for bank account used for the payment... my eyes popped out when I saw the money : 250k$

seems like Killian really wants me dead.

I was surprised to know that he out a tracker on me...sly bastard, the good news is that the heat from my body destroyed the cip that I had under my skin, so I don't need to be worried.

"thank you.." I said, then I raised one of their gun to his head

"y..you said.."

"I am sorry, but no one can know my secret"

*Boom*

Walking out the building a hooded figure welcome me

"I heard you where searching for Kamar-Taj?"

"Finally...yes! and where the hell have you been? if only you showed up earlier I wouldn't have risked my life!"-Arthur

"everything happen for a reason, now follow me, if you want an answer"
