The Reception Party

On The Reception Day: 

Shen Yu Han secretly admired Feng Xi, who looked no lesser than a jade beauty for the evening's reception. Feng Xi, who was standing in front of the mirror, ended up noticing Yu Han's penetrating gaze at her. 

"I didn't wish to buy such an expensive dress, but Aunt Yao insisted that I should buy it," Feng Xi said. She felt if Yu Han was angry that she purchased an expensive dress from his black card. 

Shen Yu Han walked up to her and stood behind her. He didn't utter a single word and lifted his hands to the zipper of her dress. Feng Xi found her breath hitched when his fingers brushed her cold skin. "You didn't tuck the zipper full," he whispered and their eyes again met through the reflection of the mirror. 

"Since you are Shen Yu Han's wife, you deserve all these dresses and jewelry. I'm glad you spent well on the dress. Also, the black card is yours now," he stated, causing her heart to flutter. 

Shen Yu Han had the urge to kiss his wife at this moment. He couldn't resist her temptation. Her red rosy lips and cheeks stirred something in his heart. He was still trying to comprehend the weird feelings when Madam Yao knocked on the door.

"Young master, Madam, the guests have arrived. Please, be on time," Madam Yao said and waited for their response.

"Aunt Yao, we are coming in a minute," Feng Xi replied from inside the room and turned her head to look at Shen Yu Han, whose gaze was already on her.

Lu Feng Xi was mesmerized to see the man in front of her but she shook her head and said, "Shall we leave?" 

"Hm, let's go," Shen Yu Han pronounced and extended his hand toward Feng Xi.

They both arrived in the garden of the Shen mansion where the reception would occur.

"You two are finally here," Grandma Shen approached them and took Feng Xi's hand in hers. "Come, I will introduce you to the other family members, Feng Xi," she said, completely ignoring Shen Yu Han's presence.

'Grandma, am I really your grandson?' Shen Yu Han thought. Despite that, he decided to follow them and greet the guests together with his wife.

"She is your aunt, Shen Li'an," Grandma Shen introduced her daughter to Lu Feng Xi.

"Hello, Aunt Li'an." Lu Feng Xi greeted Shen Li'an with respect. She had recognized Li'an as she was Zhan Ji Xuan's mother.

"Where is Ji Xuan? Why is he not here yet?" Grandma Shen asked 

"He will be here soon, Mom," replied Li'an. She then gazed at Feng Xi, telling her, "Your sister almost ruined the Shen Family reputation. I'm glad you took her place."

Feng Xi sensed her tone was a bit angry when she heard Yu Han speak, "Auntie, why don't you just enjoy the reception? Also, you should focus on your son's activities rather than someone else's."

Grandma Shen told Yu Han not to speak in such a manner with his aunt. Shen Li'an was irked by Yu Han's response, but she chose to remain silent for her mother's sake. 

Later, Feng Xi was introduced to other important guests. She looked toward the entrance of the garden, wondering where her parents were. Shouldn't they have arrived here early today? Feng Xi thought. 

Meeting so many guests exhausted Feng Xi, so she decided to find a corner and take a breather.

"Yu Han, I want to take a little rest," she whispered to Shen Yu Han, to which he took her to Feng Xi to a quiet place.

"I guess you must have been exhausted," Shen Yu Han pronounced, glancing at her tired face. He asked a waiter and asked him to bring Feng Xi some drinks. "... And don't forget to bring something for her to eat."

Soon the waiter came back with some drinks and snacks for them.

"Thanks, Yu Han," Feng Xi genuinely thanked him. "Why aren't my parents here till now?" She queried. 

"My secretary has gone to your house to fetch them. They will be here soon," Yu Han informed her. 

Suddenly Yu Han's cell phone vibrated, and he told Lu Feng Xi that he had somewhere to go. "Get relaxed here. I will be back soon."

Just as Shen Yu Han turned to leave, Lu Feng Xi held his hand and asked him to come back soon. "I only know a few people here and I am very awkward, so come back soon."

"Hm," Shen Yu Han replied. He patted the back of her palm and left.

Lu Feng Xi took a deep breath and started to munch on her snacks when she heard an unfamiliar, yet familiar voice.

"Look at this shameless bumpkin! She even had the guts to come here even after her sister ran away!" Alice Yang scoffed and advanced her steps toward Lu Feng Xi.

Lu Feng Xi's eyes grew bigger to see Alice at the party. 'I don't think she is related to the Shen's family. So, why is she even here?' She thought as she frowned.

"Why are you here?" Feng Xi cocked her brows and asked.

"Why am I here?" Alice snickered. "This is where I should be! Young Master Shen personally invited me and my dad to this party, so why shouldn't I be here?"

Alice's voice was loud enough to attract everyone's attention toward her. "Both the Lu sisters are trash. I guess, Mr. Shen wishes to humiliate you and your family for what Yun Xi did to him. And not to mention, I belong to an elite family, unlike your trash family. That's why I'm here."

"Excuse me?" Lu Feng Xi was irked by Alice's words. She wanted to step forth and slap her. However, she didn't want to lose her temper in front of so many guests and prove Alice true for being a bumpkin.

"Hah! Why am I even talking to you? Young Master Shen must have invited you here to humiliate you for what your family did to him," Alice didn't stop there and continued to talk trash to Lu Feng Xi. Even her father did not bother to stop her.

"What's going on here?" Grandma Shen interrupted. She first tried to understand the situation but when she understood something was wrong, she meddled in.

"Greetings to Madam Shen. Nothing much. My daughter was just showing this trash her right place!" Mr. Yang remarked as he looked for Shen Yu Han to give him the expensive gift he had bought for her. 

"Did you just call my wife trash?" Shen Yu Han's cold yet intimidating voice reverberated in everyone's ears.
