Promise Me

Steve held Joan in his arms as she cried, he gently patted her on the back, whispering soothing words in her ear.

"I don't want my father to die," Joan cried into Steve's shoulders.

"He is not going to die," Steve said to her in a small soothing voice.

Joan raised her head to look at Steve, her makeup was smudged from tears. 

"Ayo please I don't want my father to die, I'm sure there is something we can do, anything, something. But please I don't want my father to die." 

  "The doctors are trying their best to see that he doesn't die. My father is reaching out to some of his contacts so a private jet can be arranged to fly your father to receive medical care outside the country. We don't want to give up hope yet," Steve said calmly as he gently used his thumb to wipe away tears from underneath her eyes. 

"Okay, thank you so much! Thank you so much Ayo," she said with a sigh of relief, a gleam of hope shining in her eyes.
