Chapter 18
“Are you gonna do this or not?”
“All right, but you have to let me do it my way.”
“Yeah. Okay,” the man said, throwing the costume aside. “Just get out there and do something before we all get fired.”
Phoenix didn’t know why he was doing this, but he quickly changed his clothes. By the time he was through, he looked like he was going to someone’s apartment to unplug their sink. He was just about to go out when he felt someone yanking on his clothes, and looked down to see the stage manager with a pair of scissors in his hand, cutting his jeans so short he almost felt naked.
“What the hell are you doing?”
“You gotta give ‘em somethin’ to look at. This is burlesque, for God’s sake. Have you seen anybody go out there fully dressed? Of course not.”
