Chapter 2

Jaxon couldn't help but scoff in shock. He didn't except her to accept that thing over him. It seems he was now pushed to the side.

"Fine, a baby. So tell me, what will the industry say after finding out about it? An actress who got pregnant out of wedlock? An actress who got pregnant by a random guy? What will you tell them?"

Kaylee couldn't think straight at the moment as her eyes were still closed tightly in grief.

In the long silence, Jaxon didn't get a reply from Kaylee. 

Kaylee slumped on the seat utterly speechless. After a long silence, Kaylee was about to utter a word when she caught a glimpse of a slender figure walking into the hall.

"Hey Baby! I have been calling so many times and you didn't care to return my calls. What's wrong? Didn't you receive my calls?" The slender figure lamented childishly with a frown rested on her face, moving to him.

When Jaxon saw the lady, he gulped down dry and scratched the back of his head in discomfort. He felt like the ground should open for him to enter and hide there from his secrets.

On the other side, Kaylee was confused about what was happening and who was the young lady calling 'Baby'. Is Jaxon cheating on her? No the lady must have misken! She shifted a questioning eyes at him but he looked away from her eyes.

The lady went to Jaxon and affectionately took her hand. "Baby, you know today's supposed to be a memorable day in our lives." She paused as she noticed the beautiful scenery inside. "Wow, so beautiful! Is this the place where we are celebrating our anniversary? Tell me?" The young lady questioned, impatient.

Perplexed, Kaylee muttered. "Anniversary?" She stood up, looking at Jaxon who still now had his eyes buried. "W- what D-does she mean by anniversary? Do you guys know each other?"

Kaylee wanted a negative answer. It don't have to be what she was thinking. She knows him to be loyal and honest partner in their journey of love. She acknowledged that she had fail him by her selfish act and her mistake is justified which can't be forgiven easily but as for him, he isn't the kind of a playboy to stabbed her behind.

When the lady heard the confused Kaylee shuttering as if learning how to speak for the first time. As she walked in, she didn't recognize Kaylee's presence probably because she was here for her man and their anniversary to be celebrated. She thought Kaylee might be one of the customers as well.

"Yes. We have known each other for a long time. It been a year right?" The lady asked Jaxon who nodded without uttering a word. she looked away from him and continued. "We are engaged alreay. so our wedding will take place after our graduation."

The room grew more creepy and time seemed to stopped for a moment.

"How long did you plan to hide this from me?" Kaylee questioned softly but there was a trace of broken heart speaking.

Jaxon put on a remorse expression which wasn't from his heart as he took a step closer to her. "I never wanted to hide it from you. It's true, we have dated for a year now and got engaged. I was actually going to tell you about it tonight but I first got to learn about the test." He declared nonchalantly.

"So what about the promises? They were all lies? Why do you want me to get rid of my baby when you already got yourself a partner? Tell me, Jaxon?" Kaylee burst into a depressed cry.

The young lady seemed to comprehend the downbear atmosphere. "Is she the Kaylee you told me about? Your ex who got pregnant by a random guy. What a pity." She shook her head as if feeling sympathy for Kaylee. Meanwhile she was enjoying the scene.

Seeing his secret had been known and can't be hidden anymore. He thought to turn the table on his side. Jaxon frowned and said indifferently. "Is there something wrong to be engaged with her? I can't keep to my promise because you have nothing to afford me. You're a low class girl living under my prestige. Well my parents wants us to be couples and I didn't tell you doesn't make me a bad person. If you can sleep with a random guy, is it bad for me to have her?"

So this is what it is now? Kaylee shut her eyes tightly if it would stop her from hearing his words.

At first, Kaylee thought she is the only one he had and would spent his life with her like he promised. In addition, Kaylee thought, she was the bad guy in their relationship while he was the righteous one. Who would have expected Jaxon to fool her all this time without him even showing a red flag?

Her mistake wasn't a sin! She isn't going to accept her baby to be a sin!

There was a sudden psychotic laugh that escaped Kaylee's lips. She didn't stop laughing for a long time before she finally stopped.

Kaylee glanced at the lady. "No. It is not bad for you to have her." Her lips pursed and then forced out her words. "Even to keep her forever."

She picked up her small handbag on the table and moved from her spots but stopped in her tracks when she heard Jaxon saying.

"You have to make a wise decision. Even if we can't be together, we should think about the industry. Kaylee, they won't let you in if you keep that baby but don't worry I won't let you struggle to raise the baby." Jaxon went to her.

"This Cheque is worth 5,000 dollars, you can have it." Said Jaxon, extending a piece of paper in his hands towards Kaylee.

Kaylee didn't turn around to glance at him nor the cheque. "I don't have to be greedy anymore. The love and affection you have given me all this time, I am already grateful for that. And for the Cheque, I don't need it. I can raise my baby on my own." Kaylee said while she tried to makesure the tears in the corner of her eyes won't drop.

Kaylee stopped at the exit when she heard him again says. "Without me, you wouldn't live well and you know that Kaylee! You are going to regret this If you get past the door then everything will surely end! Even your career!"

"Baby let her go and focus on ourselves. You said she's your ex, then why care about her?" The lady felt upset on how attentive Jaxon was with Kaylee.

The lady could feel the love sparkle which had been there for a long time has ended now. However, she was scared that if Kaylee changed her mind she might lose him and everything she had planned hard to get today.

"Baby I'm famished. Let's make an order." The lady said and pouted like a cute spoilt child.

Kaylee said nothing. Did he think she was in the relationship for his wealth? So that was his thoughts.

Kaylee took a deep breath, opened the door and finally stepped out of the restaurant.

Ambling across the street, Kaylee was swimming in her own thoughts.

Tonight was meant to be joyous night, having a slow dance with her first love in their third year anniversary but it seems the universe jinxed it.

It all started four years ago when Kaylee the freshman had a secret crush on Jaxon Travis. He was the hottest and popular guy in college back then probably because he was the most handsome guy who came from a prestigious family.

Kaylee's dreamt to work in the entertainment industry after getting her degrees in her hands. Fortunately, it happened through the help of Jaxon since one of his relatives owned one of the biggest entertainment industries in town. She did her first audition and luckily she was fully accepted as she got her own manager.

It wasn't up to two years, Kaylee rose up to fame with thousands of fans by her talent that most industries seeks for collaboration with hers.

Since then, everything was going perfectly between them with so much sweet memories but tonight she learned that someone else had already took over her place.

Did her misery start because of a night's fun that only turned into a one-night stand or did it start a long time ago? Kaylee wasn't sure.

Was my choice wrong?

She will soon be a single mother from a family whose name is not well known and financial unstable.

Kaylee was lost in dazedness and care less about the chilly breeze, assaulting her skin. She appeared like a lost puppy under the pouring rain.

After a long walk in the street, her eyes caught two lovely couples under the lamp post. The young man pulled off his long-sleeved coat and wrapped it around his beloved. 

Seeing this, a bitter smile twirled up her lips at the lovely couple. Of course, she had experienced this so many times but now it wasn't going to happen again.

She rubbed her arms gently, trying to warm herself from the chilly night although the chilly atmosphere was growing stronger. As she rubbed her arms, she felt the other arm which Jaxon gripped harshly earlier.

Kaylee looked at her arm and saw the place was red as if it was toasted by a hot rod. It was still unbelievable for her that Jaxon who physically hurt her. He always pampered her like a kid, treat her like a queen with his smile thats filled by love and warmth he had for her.

Did he sudden change because of her pregnancy? Kaylee exhaled deeply. Her head was aching badly. She tried to suppress the pain but it wasn't helping at all so she let the pain take over her head.

Kaylee opened her hand bag and brought out her cellphone. She dialed a number and it was going through. After some rings, the person received the call.

"Hello, it's been a long time, Mom." Kaylee said calmly, trying not to let her sorrowful heart leak in her voice.

"Yeah, it's been a long time. How are you doing, Kaylee?" The person asked asked over the phone.

Kaylee's lips curled up in faint smile before. "I'm fine, Mom. I'm sorry I have hurt you all. I have lost the light and now I'm just stranded in the dark. What shall I do?"  She couldn't control her tears anymore, she could not as she broke down into tears.

She sobs profusely and wiped off the tears on her face with her palms. Her nostrils were also pouring as she snuffed.

"Did something happen?" The person asked.

"Yes," Kaylee replied

"It's Fine just come back home and everything will be fine." 

"Thanks, Mom." She said as the call ended.

Kaylee looked down at her tummy, placed both hands on the tummy, and then muttered.

"Don't be scared, My baby. Everything will be fine. I promise to be the best mother to you, it's just me and You from now onwards. A new life." 

"I will try to forget him and leave everything behind."

She raised her hand to clean off the remain trace of tears that still lingered in her eyes.

Now she must focus on herself and her unborn child. She must work hard to provide a comfy life for herself and her child once the baby is born. A life where she wouldn't struggle to give her child whatever the baby request and share a memorable childhood throughout her baby growth and not in another's prestige.

Kaylee took deep breath for the fourth time and gathered her shattered self to continue her walk on the street to her apartment miles away.
