"Calm your ass before I stop the car," Carter snarled. I finally shut my mouth, keeping my eyes locked on the road.

We were going to Nadia's father's workplace; an FBI base. Sure, we were going to trespass on government property, most likely to get arrested, whatever. I just wanted to get Aurora out of there, without letting them investigate her more.

Of all the things that could've happened, the damn government decided to get involved. How was I going to get out of that?

I was terrified for my life for going there in the first place. All that came to my mind was 'follow them' and, well, I didn't think this far ahead.

It was a stupid idea. More than stupid. Outrageous, maybe a little more than that.

What am I doing?

My hand slapped my cheek to focus. I'm saving the love of my life.

"Would you like to tell me why you just slapped yourself?" Carter asked.
