Chapter 59 He’s crew.

The fleet took more than two weeks to reach the border,it was faster because they had tankers with them this time.

When they jumped out in the coalition space Tommy saw something that he really didn't want to see.

The border guards ships were getting ready to defend against the bug forces that they were suspecting to come out of the forming wormhole.

He immediately opened communications with them.

-Captain Zieliński, nice of you to drop by.

To his surprise it was the same border patrol captain that escorted him last time. 

-Can we offer you some assistance?

-It would be appreciated.

-Then please move your forces away from the event horizon and we will drop some mines for the incoming guests and also i want to try something on this wormhole.

-Be my guest captain.

The border guards retreated to the maximal range of their weapons and the three ships from the mercenary fleet started dropping the mines.

The earth dragon and the Boom dragon were over the moon getting another opportunity to get some kills and to use their new toys.

After all the mines were set the other two ships left the area.

The Star of Vengeance on the other hand turned all of her MAC's into the wormhole and started firing.

A moment later the wormhole stabilized and the last two of seven salvos went through an already stabilized wormhole, after that they micro jumped away.

-Captain Zieliński what did you fire into this thing?

The border guard captain asked as soon as the channel was open.

-Kinetic weapons and it was just an experiment to see if they will go through without being destroyed.

-Whatever helps is appreciated, especially that the station is right behind us and we are buying time to evacuate it.

-How long do we have to hold out?

- Around two hours.

-That's a tall order, the last time we fought them we barely got out after an hour.

-I heard that they sent massive fleets into the empire but they only sent around 5000 ships into space so far.

-If that's the case then we might stand a chance.

The moments later they saw the first explosions.

The mines were doing their job and the whole exit of the wormhole looked like a fireworks display.

This time they had an accurate count and the class of the ships that were getting destroyed.

The final count this time was far better than the last one,they managed to destroy or heavily damage over 350 ships ranging from heavy cruisers 3 destroyed to corvettes 196 destroyed.

But there were still more ships coming.

The fleet opened fire and it was a slaughter,Ships exploded into the balls of fire, damaged ships rammed their allies ,other ships just went adrift.

The border guards watched this display of power and destruction in disbelief.

This wasn't even a battle, it was a massacre and they were a part of it as all 35 the ships of the border guard unleashed all their weapons. 

After an hour of this turkey shoot the ammunition stores started running low,the energy weapons did not use ammo but there was no way that they could hold position with just them.

But suddenly the wormhole started destabilizing again.

Command went out to hold fire.

Within 2 minutes the wormhole was gone like it was never there.

The only proof of this battle were the remains of hundreds of ships that they just destroyed.

This battle also pointed out the best way to stop the bugs.

In the draco system they had made a mistake of letting the bugs get out of the tunnel once they were out they overwhelmed them with numbers.

This time they opened fire before the bugs could even leave the exit point and they won.

-Status rapport.

Tommy asked.

-Our shields went down 23%, no damage and no casualties.

-Our ammunition is running low but Garry is already on it.

-No casualties within the fleet or border guards.

-Total enemies killed 6345 starting from a battleship class 2 destroyed to the fighters 2376 destroyed.

Everyone gave their raptors.

Tommy was happy with the results but he didn't let his guard down. The two battles with the bugs ended with one retreat and one victory but if the enemy sent another force now then they would have to retreat again.

He talked to Daniel and the commander of border guards,all of them had the same problem 

they were almost out of ammunition and energy weapons alone wouldn't stop the bugs.

It would take more than a day to restock on ammo and after that they would need to restock the materials.

The decision was made that all of them would go to the station for now,the border guards left only 5 ships to monitor the area with orders to retreat if another wormhole appeared.

Before they reached the station it was already evacuated. The only people aboard were the station master and some of his workers that decided to take some of the bugs with them.

To the station master's surprise the border guards returned and were accompanied by over a hundred warships he didn't recognise,wait he knew one of them.

-Captain Zieliński you have a knack for coming to help me in my hour of need.

The station master said, greeting his guests.

-Gladi could help. Station master and let me introduce you to Daniel O'Neill, my boss and a good friend.

-Welcome to my humble station Black dragon and thank you for the assistance.

the station master said.

Commander Pushkin, it's also good to see you alive and well.

-Thank you station master.

-Sit down gentleman .

They all took a seat.

-Can i offer you all a drink to celebrate your victory?

They all agreed and soon they sipped a cold vodka with ice and a slice of lemon.

They discussed the battle and the station master offered to refuel their ship and he also sent orders to deliver all the available materials and ammunition to the ships that could use it.

He didn't care that most of the warehouses had goods from the merchants, if it wasn't for the help the border guards got from the mercenaries this station would be destroyed by now.

So he sent all the useful materials he had on hand including food and medicine.

The station was doomed to be destroyed but Tommy and the commander of the border guards managed to convince all the people remaining on the station to evacuate especially when Tommy informed the station master that they will use an automatic system to make the station defenses open fire on any bug ship.

To his surprise,Tommy found that all of the people he left here,stayed to defend the station and now that they were evacuating they wanted to return to the Star of Vengeance.

He agreed without hesitation,they were his crew and they always had a place on board his ship.
