Soulmate

For the past few days, things haven't been going too well. My desire to distance myself from everyone and everything stems from the fact that many members of my armies have died on the battlefield. When I got out of my office, the only thing I wanted to do was go and do some hunting, but I ended up finding a human attempting to commit suicide. It was nothing new to me because these people typically attempt suicide when they are grieving or going through a difficult time in their lives. But once I understood who this person really was, my previously critical perspective changed. I found it hard to believe that fate could be treating me so unfairly.

Even though I may have a huge amount on my table right now, I do have to make an effort to get to know my mate. I need to be there for her to support her, get the healing she needs, and provide the comfort and safety she deserves. By that time, I knew exactly what I needed to do, which was to bring her out of the cold and get her into the comfort and warmth of the house; she didn't deserve to be treated the way her father and stepmother treated her, and things had to change right away.

I was caught up in my thoughts. I didn't notice her standing up and attempting to go, so I had to act quickly; I couldn't risk losing her so soon after obtaining her. And where are you going? I queried after gaining her attention. Her response was, "I don't know," which made it very easy for me because she was not going to argue with me taking her to my place. I took her small hand in mine and led the way. I enjoyed the way her hand fit perfectly into mine. The sensation of wholeness and tranquility her presence brought to my heart was unlike anything I'd ever felt before. I'm not letting her go.

Because I wasn't attempting to scare her, I immediately talked with Earl through the bond link and told him to bring the car over. I'm not stupid enough to use my vampire speed with her in my arm, and I'm afraid she won't let me carry her, as this is her first time seeing me. We emerged from the dark forest to find a car just waiting for us, and that was a great thing since I do not enjoy waiting or being compelled to do so. I assisted her by unlocking the passenger-side door and double-checking that she was wearing her seatbelt.

My lovely new soulmate fell asleep immediately, which irritated me. The nerve she had to fall asleep next to a stranger did not sit well with me; she could be murdered or assaulted while she was probably asleep. She was asleep for the entire forty-minute ride. She seemed so peaceful and adorable in her slumber that I had to tell myself over and over again to keep my eyes on the road in order to avoid any accidents that might result in her being wounded.

When we arrived at Rollencia, I pulled up in front of the chateau and attempted to wake her up. That was difficult. Finally, one way helped, and that was to blow air at her ear, which was easy as she was facing the window. I assisted her outside and led her inside, where we encountered some of the maids, which was odd because most of them would be in bed by this time of night as they are expected to fulfill their chores early the next morning.

They lowered their heads, and the head maid, I believe her name is Martha, stepped forward, smiling. This girl is insane; the only time we shared a bed was the first time I got here, which must have screwed her up and led her to believe that we were more than just boss and employer, which is very amusing. 'Good evening, your highness; your supper has been prepared and is ready for serving.' She said this while smiling at me, which was weird because my mate was standing there quietly watching the encounter.

I simply nodded and walked straight past her with my mate, upstairs. I very much wanted to take her to my room because I didn't want her to sleep in the other rooms, seeing as I don't trust the safety of other parts of the house. But she has the right to privacy, and since she doesn't know who I am at the time, I'll let her. I don't want to make her feel caged or forced to be with me. Before progressing to the next stage, I want her to be in me; besides, I wouldn't want my soulmate to despise me.

After getting her situated, I headed straight to the office since I intended to make a really important phone call and therefore get to work with my assistant to reschedule the entire calendar and make some changes since everything has to be altered from now on so I can find time for my mate. I don't want her to feel lonely in this building because I am the only person she knows.

Sitting at my desk, thinking about the scenarios, the war, and the minor attracts on my country, these were not complicated because my people were well cared for, but the mate in the picture, this could get messier. And my mate could also be a casualty in this catastrophe, something I must prevent at all costs.

Since I can't risk putting her in any danger due to the possibility that she will be drawn to one of the many enemies I have made over the years, I had to start making plans to end this war as soon as possible. The first enemy I have to contend with is none other than my own elders, who occasionally irritate me. They could have been dealt with if my brother had been around, and I have no doubt that they are to blame for the chaos in my empire right now.

However, someone has recently been a bad girl and deserves to be punished before doing that. My nose was immediately assaulted by the smell of fresh blood as soon as the guard opened the dungeon door. Although it wasn't as tasty and sweet as my partner's, someone had to pay for it because I was unable to go hunting My thirst has to be satisfied, and my mate doesn't have to deal with that problem at hand, but with the woman who was sent to spy on me. People can be so stupid at times, and because she made such foolish decisions, she is now beginning to pay for everything in the worst way imaginable.
