Chapter 113: Miquella

(I did not realize until today that I didn't post this chapter. It's just been sitting, and waiting. I apologize to all readers)

"How long have you known?" Hui Mie and the other godkings ask Poseidon after witnessing him purify Asura.

"Since his soul fragment returned hundreds of years ago. He had begun to act strange since then. More volatile or conflicted about certain matters that weren't complicated. But I have never had a complete solution until a tiny soul fragment hijacked a portion of death energy that the young death god before us had given to me in hopes of convincing me to undertake my successor trials. This soul fragment had doubted the actions of Shade during his time in another world under another name and only recently has it gotten the answer it sought." Poseidon explains that another outsider had come to their world through Xue Tie and had a conflict with Shade/Mohg.

"So what does that mean to us? Is there hope for this one" Sheng Ming the goddess of life asks and the Sea God nods whilst saying.

"It's possible to end Shade once and for all. It requires us to merge our powers into a type of energy that this soul can use to fight against the Shade and the corrupted river in his body. It's a mental battle so as long as Xue Tie himself can stay safe then he will survive."

"How can we ensure this other soul won't doublecross us as well and take over his body as well?" Asura god questions even if his suspicions aren't high due to just being saved after Poseidon proclaimed that the solution was given to him by this soul."

"The fragment of information also contained a part of their soul which was formed out of memories. I had triple checked this before absorbing it to learn who this mysterious figure was. I discovered a being known as an Empyrean[1], one eternally stuck as a child who selfishly worked to assist his siblings and hopefully allow himself to grow. But he was thwarted by Shade in his new life. A beacon of hope was brought down into hell and chose to isolate himself before realizing a part of his plot and sending a fragment of his soul over to this world with the reborn god before us. His name is Mi…"

MEANWHILE…

"MIQUELLA. How are you here? How have I not detected you for so long." Shade yells out in rage as he sends out a torrential wave from the river of reincarnation in hopes of squashing him into dust that would be dragged away by the river itself.. The young boy with pale skin and gray eyes and pale red hair that stands contrasting to his sister's Melania's bright red hair. The young Empyrean Miquella stands calm upside down on what seems to be considered the roof of the current space.

As the river approaches Miquella, he waves his hand sideways which comes in contact with the river and seems to flow around him before being sent back towards Shade. Miquella's body has also grown rosy as if energized by being in contact with the river.

Shade is shocked at this development as he just reabsorbs the river. "What did you do?"

"You think the love and compassion I elicited in our old world from the countless denizens only applies to the living. You who have possessed the river for so long are ignorant that the souls in the river which have not been properly purified due to your lack of care seek a new end. As such, they shall bless me with what little strength they have. I am eternally grateful as it gives me a better chance of breaking down the falsehood behind you. I have grown tired of your charade and lies. You who have halted the haligtree's growth and prevented me from saving my sister shall pay" Miquella calmly explains though his attitude grows more aggressive as if he remembers Shades' atrocities once again.

Miquella jumps down with a downward axe kick at Shade who retaliates with a punch at his leg. Yet at the moment of collision, a shocking turn of events happens as Miquella completely negates his action and uses the extended arm from Shade to serve as a platform for him to reposition and punch Shade in the face. Knocking him away.

Miquella then waves his hand to shoot out a beam that ricochets around, breaking all of Xue Tie's chains and freeing him. Xue Tie rubs his arms from being suspended by the chains for so long. He might be in soul form but this is still affecting him due to the effect of the river upon his mind.

From observing the whole situation thus far, he has figured out that this is a proper mind battle and the limits of power are reflected upon the user's imagination and whatever limits his mind places. Since This is his mind, he holds the greatest power here. As such, he envisions the chains of Heaven, otherwise known as Enkidu. Utilized by Gilgamesh and how they could even defeat someone like Hercules. While he cant use them to go back in time like with the unlimited blade works version of Gil did against Hercules, just providing a strong binding would work to give Miquella an opening to strike as he is uncertain about his own capabilities to defeat Shade as he has already been mentally defeated many times throughout his life.

Yes, he has built up a sort of trauma due to this situation and fears retaliation from him but his own anger meets this fear and calls upon his wrath to fall upon Shade. The silver chains of heaven spawn out of the babylonian gates, streaking throughout the area and wrapping around Shade who tried to disregard them by either shattering or knocking it all away but with Xue Tie fully focused on the anti-divine property of the chains. The river is no more than paper as the chains pierce through and wrap around Shade.

Miquella takes his chance to accelerate before unleashing a flurry of punches and kicks that would make a Street fighter player excited. With Shade sealed by the chains, he has no hope to combo break.

Suddenly a new change occurs in Miquella as his body suddenly glows golden and rapidly matures until he becomes an adult. Xue Tie can clearly feel his power has risen and is quite worried about this turn of events.

Miquella takes in his new appearance. His red hair has grown silver and elongated to his waist, his face shows signs of maturity and is naturally good looking. His clothes has changed to a simple colorful robe, he still emits an aura of compassion and kindness but stronger and with more clarity.

He ends his amazement as his eyes regain their 'fire', restarting the onslaught against the bound Shade.

[1]: it really is a coincidence that I named the empire the same thing as Miquella's race, I truly had not properly envisioned this far into the story. The actual last event I had 'envisioned'/foresaw, was the wedding crash. And that was a while ago-like 40 chapters ago, before 69..
