'What is this?' I thought, looking at the blue-lit message. I just woke up in this clearing earlier and found myself surrounded by a forest. After standing up the message popped up.

'If I was correct this is a system' I thought before reading the message. 'Reach New York or face death or worse? What is going on? Am I still on my earth?' I thought. I know that I am possibly in a world similar to mine as I have to go to New York, but why is it a must?

Was I thrown into some kind of conflict? And also, why am I here? I have practically been abducted. "System, where am I?" Wait... my voice sounds different. Also, the system didn't answer.

Why is my voice different? Was I... was I transmigrated? I have to be. "System, what is going on?"

No answer. Is it not sentient? "Show me status." The blue screen is altered and it shows.

[System unavailable, reach New York or Complete a hidden objective.]

'Well, that's just great.' I thought before thinking for a bit. I looked at the sky to see if it was a little before or after noon. 'I guess going to New York is my only option. I need to find civilization first, hopefully, tonight.'

I may know the time but I don't know the directions. From my position, any path was good enough. I'll choose right, cause right is always right. Or maybe forward since New York is north. Or left until I see the coast… if the left is east. Oh boy...

Hopefully, I find a town or something soon, I would much not want to waste time if my life depends on it. I walked to my left and began my journey.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I felt like I had been going nowhere. The sky has darkened and I am nowhere near any sort of shelter. Overall though it was a nice walk, which worries me as I might be being hunted.

'Should I increase my paces? No... I don't even know where I am and I might need the energy.'

I let out a sigh. This whole situation is bizarre, but hopefully, when I get to New York I'll get some answer.

I need to survey my surrounding to see if I'm nearby a city. But with the trees' long branches and the dark sky, I couldn't see if there was a higher elevation.

'I could climb the trees... but can I do that?' My legs were sore from all the walking. I sat down relentingly. Now resting, I realize that I was more tired than I thought I was.

I want to sleep, but that death consequence made me unyielding. After a couple of minutes pass, I found a tall tree that looks easy to climb. I wrap my hands around it, feeling its rough bark, and held on to this. It was uncomfortable, the bark scrape my knees and point at my unprotected chest.

I grab a branch to lift me up but-

SNAP!

'What?'

Gravity took hold of me and I pummeled to the ground. I rub my butt as I recover from the stunning fall.

I look at the tree, rethinking my life choices. However, the thought of clarity of where I was overwhelm it. I grab onto the tree again feeling a fiery determination as I climb up.

My shoulder was bleeding a little and my hand hurt like hell as I reach the last branch. Stepping on it, I look around seeing no sign of light other than stars. I sat on the sturdy tree branch in exhaustion, upset with my efforts being for nothing.

Being up here, I guess there's nowhere else safer than here. I rest my head on the rough tree and close my eyes.

"Where is the child?" An eerie voice enters my ears. I open my eyes to look down but I saw no one.

"He's close… I can smell him." Another voice replied.

"Oh, I wonder how his flesh taste." Another one.

And that was a red flag, cancel my search lean back, lessening the chance of getting caught.

"Find him quick… my mouth is water."

I heard some rustling above me when a dark silhouette appeared before me before it stretch its limbs and flew in the distance. Two more appeared joining the first as they got out of my line of sight.

Seeing them leave, I quickly drop down, falling to the ground floor as I ran in the opposite direction of them. 'They were going to KILL ME. They can SMELL ME. THEY CAN FLY. I need to put as much space between us as I can!' I thought as I dodge the nearby trees.

"Hehehe." Sounds of giggling emerge. I looked behind me to see three figures flying.

"Come back, Foodie." My face was bleached as I ran faster.

"Oh, I just love it when they run."

I was out of my mind right now. I just wanted to get away. I have to get away. I stumble into a tree before tripping, washing up to a river.

"HEHHEHHEHHEH!" The horror sounds of laughter in their voices echos as they drop down. They were hideous, their raggy face looked like a vulture with a fistful of moles. They weren't human. They had feathery wings and bird legs for legs. They started to approach and I backed up.

"W-why are you doing this." They pause before smiling.

"You don't even know." They said at the same time, smiling widely as if it was a joke. "It's because you are a child of a God, Foodie."

"We don't which but you are."

"Please, can't you let me go?" I begged, a part of me felt disgusted but I wanted to live.

"No." They flash their teeth and were about to pounce when something emerges behind them. Suddenly, the monsters were flung and something rapidly approach me. I was flung upwards before landing on a moving object.

I grip on tight as I peered into what was in front of me. My eyes trail up its furry hide and land on its two horns. It was a pig. No, not a pig. A boar.

I worried about why it appeared however it was clear this boar just saved my life. I watch as it speeds through the forest, adjusting myself so I don't fall off. I tried not to get on the boar's bad side as I don't want to anger it.

Suddenly, I yawn conquer my mouth and I found myself falling onto its hide.
