Chapter 7 Martial Spirit, Silver Swordfish

Ru Chan was at a loss. Nonetheless, he was pleasantly surprised that not only was he able to see his stats as well as the stats of objects. But he could also see the stats of other living people.

This made him start to wonder about the origin of the system. Meanwhile, Tang Ning's stats also caught his eye.

"1st Phase, Dantian establishment!" Ru Chan raised an eyebrow as he saw this. However, after seeing her innate core, he realized why.

Innate cores were divided into several colors to represent the cultivators' talent. The lowest level of innate talent was a Red core while the numbers behind it, Ru Chan figured, was the intensity of the talent.

With a red core talent, Tang Ning would have probably taken years to be able to advance to 1st Phase Dantian establishment. Especially with the trashy basic Qi gathering technique she was using.

But what caught his attention next was the line of words right before her skills list. Tang Ning actually had a Martial Spirit, not to mention the fact that it was actually a Silver Swordfish, a peak Rank 2 Martial spirit.

Martial spirits were also known as Spirit beasts and could only be obtained at birth. However, just like affinities, not everyone could possess such martial spirits. In fact, the majority of people weren't born with one.

Ordinary people could train hard and become high-level cultivators, but there was no way to obtain a martial spirit through training or any other way for that matter.

Just like Mythic bones, Martial spirits were extremely valuable and could increase the combat strength of its holder significantly. When their cultivation reaches a high enough realm, they could fuse with their martial spirits and take on the form of a humanoid beast.

This would bring about a massive increase in combat prowess, as well as granting them their own innate skills and special abilities.

When it reached the ultimate level, these martial spirits could become real life Powerful beasts that could come and and during battles. Basically, they could be summed up in one word.

Pets!

So among cultivators of the same level, those who owned Martial Spirits were usually one foot ahead of the rest in terms of combat power.

The Silver Swordfish Martial Spirit could be considered a top rank 2 Martial spirit and was excellent for practicing swordsmanship. However, it hadn't awakened yet and was lying dormant within her body.

What a waste of heaven's talents. Ru Chan thought inwardly as he shook his head. If she had awakened her martial spirit, her speed of cultivation would have been 10 times higher than it currently was at the moment.

There was even a chance that her innate potential would increase based only on the potential she could obtain from the Martial spirit. It had the same potential enhancement effects of the pill he was about to give her.

Added on top of her potential, if she had been cultivating for 6 years, she would have already made it to the 7th Phase Dantian establishment even with her trashy cultivation technique.

This further strengthened his thoughts of how hardworking this girl was.

"Looks like the heavens sent me her way to help her on the Martial path. We must be fated!" He said with a slightly conceited smirk.

"Wait! What's that extra word at the end?" Ru Chan wondered as he looked at the writing of her Martial Spirit. At the end, it stated the word Upgradable.

"Upgradable! What the hell does that mean?" He wondered inwardly as he observed the word at the end of her Martial spirit.

As his gaze grew deeper, a notification appeared.

<< Silver Swordfish Martial Spirit (Unawakened)/ Conditions to upgrade can only be seen when martial spirit is awakened >>

<< Conditions for Awakening: 1 Silver Swordfish Beast Core of any level, 1 Silver tail grass matured above 750 years, 1 Heart moon Flower above 1000 years of age, 30 grams of Sword salt>>

"Shit! What kind of demand is this? If you want all this stuff, why don't you just ho rob a bank?" Ru Chan roared inwardly as he looked at the ridiculous materials needed for her martial spirit to undergo awakening.

Just a casual item there would cost more than anything a normal person could afford. He doubted that even the top clans of Raincore continent would be able to gather the materials needed to awaken it.

Heartmoon flower could only mature after 5000 years of basking in complete darkness or 1500 years under the moonlight.

As for the Silver swordfish, let's not even begin talking. A swordfish was a sea beast and not the type that could be found near the shore. Not to mention that every single beast in the world needed to reach a certain level of cultivation known as the Core Formation realm to be able to condense a beast core.

Just finding a silver swordfish was another matter on its own, much less killing one. Even powerful cultivators wouldn't dare venture into the deep ocean surface, miles away from sure much less the sea depths.

The powerful creatures laying down there were no jokes and had lived for thousands of years without being disturbed by mankind. Their cultivation levels were not something to joke about, and even a Martial Lord would have to think more than ten times over and ultimately still decide against provoking them.

Anyone who went on such a perilous journey was guaranteed a funeral without a body.

Ru Chan shook his head vigorously. He had just started cultivating,, and he really wasn't ready to die yet. Who actually wanted to die? Maybe those lonely immortals who had lived for thousands of years and lost all their friends and loved ones.

But he certainly wasn't in that category to do something so suicidal for someone he barely knew.

"Forget it! I can just pass her a suitable cultivation technique that can increase her cultivation speed tremendously. When she is strong enough, she can get it herself".

Ru Chan thought inwardly as he began to search through his memories for a suitable cultivation technique. Besides the Primordial sovereign affinity technique, Ren Lao also had numerous techniques of different kinds and values.

What he cultivated was an affinity technique and although it was the best in Ren Lao's arsenal, he was certainly not going to give it to her. Besides, the technique was a firm and domineering dao that wasn't suitable for women. If he gave her the technique, it could possibly do more harm than good.

Plus, there were always people with greedy eyes. Giving her an overly powerful cultivation technique would surely benefit her, but at the same time, harm her greatly.

As they say, a regular human is blameless, but add a treasure to him, and he will incur the wrath of the world. Ren Lao's powerful techniques were definitely something that powerhouses on a continent like Raincore could fight to the death over.

It would simply be looking for trouble.

"Yes! I got it! Since her Martial spirit is suited for the way of the Sword, then the Connate Sword technique is the most suitable. And the previous cultivators Ren Lao encountered using this technique were mostly women. Despite being of a much lower quality than My Primordial Sovereign Affinity technique, it's still an Advanced Rank cultivation technique".

What Ru Chan had said was the truth. For the grades of martial arts, there were basic tier cultivation techniques, Intermediate tier and Advanced Tier techniques. Each level of the technique corresponded with how high a certain individual could advance with the said technique.

The one being used by Tang Ning currently was a Basic tier cultivation technique and one of the low level trashy ones at that. It was basically worthless in the cultivation world and would be given to servants or slaves for cultivation.

A Basic level cultivation technique would allow someone to reach Qi Apprentice realm 1st stage at most, and that was after many brutal years of cultivation.

By the time one reached that level, they would already have one foot in the grave if their innate talent was poor. Following which, there would be no hope of advancing to the higher levels of cultivation.

After Advanced level were king tier techniques. These levels of techniques were much rarer than those below its grade, and only high powers in Raincore continent could obtain one.

However, Ru Chan didn't think much of it as in the Dao Martial Lands, King Tier techniques were common and basic and intermediate tier techniques had practically gone extinct.

"Yes, this Connate Sword technique is suitable for her! Just right!"

"Ahem, Ning'er!" Ru Chan called out slightly. The only reason why he dared to call her out was because he could sense that she hadn't entered a deep state of cultivation. If not, he would have waited and let her be.

In the Cultivation world, interrupting someone while in the midst of cultivation was considered a taboo that would bring hundreds of years of bad luck. Although this was never proven.

"Brother Chan!" Tang Ning opened her eyes and was startled to see Ru Chan appear in front of her. Judging from his position, he was most likely standing there and looking at her for a while.

Thinking of the scene of being watched under his gaze, her face had a hint of red on it as she became embarrassed. However, that embarrassment disappeared when she took a proper look at him.

She was stunned speechless. The person in front of her didn't have the slightest resemblance to the pale and sickly youth that looked like he could be tipped over with a slight breeze.

Instead, he looked elegant and refined and his very presence gave her a sense of deep pressure. His bearing and temperament were a vast contrast to the one a few hours ago. This discovery brought an even greater shock to her.

How did he change so much in so little time? Not to mention his handsome appearance, her face turned a darker shade of red. It almost looked like it could drip blood.

"Brother Chan! Why, I mean... You have changed."

"Hmm?" Ru Chan raised an eyebrow with an inquisitive gaze concerning her words. However, he quickly ignored them as if she never spoke at all.

"Sister Ning'er, I want to say a big thank you for what you have done for me. Indeed, you have saved my life and helped me recover to a much healthier state. This is a debt that cannot be easily repaid".

He said solemnly and added.

"I have already tempered my mortal body and I am officially a cultivator, just like you now. So now, it's my turn to help you out. Since you have been so good to me, I will naturally not hold anything back from you".

Ru Chan then took out the Hundred meridians cleansing pill that was amplified by the system abilities. His face carried a serious expression as he spoke.

"This is the Hundred Meridians cleansing pill. It's a Grade 5 Medicinal pill that cleanses the meridians and expels impurities".

"Not only will it cleanse your body, it will also enable your cultivation speed to rise greatly for a certain period of time. There is also a chance to increase your innate talent".

Ru Chan said with a straight face. Although precious, this medicinal pill had no use for Ru Chan and might as well be used to pat back a favor. Tang Ning was about to register to join a sect.

Although he wasn't sure about the way the examinations were taken, he was sure that innate talent was a factor that took up more than 80% when looking for disciples.

No one would want to take in an untalented nobody as a disciple unless they had something extraordinary about them. Tang Ning was from a simple background with low innate talent lower cultivation base.

If she didn't take this pill, she would certainly be rejected in three days time.

Ru Chan handed over the pill and Tang Ning took it from his hands with a shocked expression on her face. She didn't know whether what he was saying was true or not, but the rich medicinal fragrance that wafted to her nostrils told her what she needed to know.

"Where-where did you get this?"
